  1. A great advert for the National League sees both teams keep intact their unbeaten run. A draw was the fair result and both sets of fans can be proud of their riders efforts in this match. It was just one of them nights for Brummies riders where we suffered a fair bit from bike issues and iffy gating at times. Darryl Ritchings rode well and was well supported by Danyon, Bacon (after his first ride) and JPB. The others im sure will want to show the form they have showed prior to this meeting next week and im sure they will. I said before the meeting that Danny Ayres goes well here and he looks to have come on quite alot since last season. Bowen has been around a while and you would expect him to be one of the best in the league and he certaintly proved that tonight. Shanes provided good backup to them two,. I was quite impressed with Thomas, first time ive seen him and he looked on the pace.
  2. I'm really looking forward to this match, gonna be a cracker of a meeting. Kent really have started the season so provide the toughest test we have had at Perry Barr yet. They have riders that can do well, Danny Ayres has had some good meetings here in the past and James Shanes is always one to watch. I think its crazy hes not riding for a Premier League club this year. Poole vs Wolves is definitely being covered tonight so I reckon they will have someone at Perry Barr but might not have live commentary.
  3. Only 2.6 miles from where I live and Perry Barr, sometimes I go to Monmore Green which is about 11 miles.
  4. Ryan Mcdonald was ill thats why he didn't ride on Saturday.
  5. I actually dont think this will be as one sided as some may think. I like Buxton, think they have a decent team. Top 3 is very strong and we can't be sure what Shelby Rutherford will do. So I think it will be a good match and hopefully not as one sided as last week
  6. Excellent all round effort from the Brummies tonight, but I was especially impressed with Danyon Hume. Two great meetings to start the season. Could he be one of the surprises of the NL this year. Totally different rider from last year. Rye House were poor, I was only impressed with Priest. Ben Morley who you would expect to be scoring double figures was non existent upto heat 13. Might be a long season for the raiders.
  7. Brummies made a profit last year I believe
  8. Hopefully this will be third time lucky for me, had to miss the Stoke Match and was going to go to Wolves Monday but it was rained off. Pretty much agree with the other posters on here, I can see this being a fairly big Brummies win, can only really see Ben Morley and Ben Hopwood offering any real resistance. Both as I recall went well here for Kent and Eastbourne respectively last season. 55-35
  9. Thinking of coming to this if the weather behaves, hope its dry in Wolverhampton like its is in Walsall at the minute.
  10. So sad I feel for all the devils fans, I know what your going through as a Brummies fan. I hope you find someone to take it on.
  11. So lets get this right, the EL and PL decide at their AGM that decide some National League teams cannot own their own riders and they just come in, pinch your rider, sign him as their asset which means you have to pay a loan fee? If thats right, were the National League consulted about this because as far as im concerned they are just s****** on this league from a great height! Before a smaller club like Buxton could have signed a really talented rider when he turned 15. He good have progressed to say the EL by the age of 17, then a club like Poole or Coventry could have come in and paid Buxton a nice transfer fee for that rider to become their asset. To a club with small resources that is like gold dust, now the EL and PL teams can bypass the NL. They dont have to pay a NL club for a rider, just pinch him and bring in a few £££ by loaning him out. Great for their leagues but it the fianacial cost on some of the NL clubs that is what I worry about the most but they dont care I suspect. There are some clubs like the Brummies that could race in a higher league like Cradley, Eastbourne or Kent. What kind of incentive are you giving these clubs because if they move up they wont have any assets. Most likely the already PL standard riders they have would have been signed by PL clubs so we will be going into that league blind. I dont want PL in 2017 after this, they can shove it. I dont blame Zach because like any rider he wants to ride at the top and when the big boys change the rules to suit themselves, he cannot turn them down. He will give 110% for the Brummies no doubt this season.
  12. 1. Oliver Greenwood (Buxton) 9.12 2. Ashley Morris (Cradley) 9.06 3. Martin Knuckey (Coventry) 6.78 4. Josh Bailey (Kings Lynn) 6.02 5. Charley Powell (Eastbourne) 3.00 6. Jack Smith (Birmingham) 3.00 7. JPB (Birmingham) 3.00
  13. We won't win the title cos of the nonsense play off system introduced by the promoters.Eastbourne title to lose
  14. Obviously not as much as you it seems but when I have, I have been impressed. He rides Perry Barr well
  15. Yes Heathens1984 a fantastic signing. He will provide great back up to Zach and Tom in the third heat leader role. Well chuffed
  16. Just read the story on the Brummies site of Graham just having a go at Kevin Jolly over the Tom Bacon signing. For godsake Graham just move on, we got the rider we wanted. No need for petty press releases like that!
  17. Welcome to the Brummies Tom, really impressive signing and I don't agree with some that he wont improve, On the occasions I saw him last season I was impressed, one of his appearances guesting for Kent saw him scoring 10+1 from the number 3 position. The last two positions will be interesting, do we sign a rider like Ellis Perks and another 3 pter or do we go for a more balanced look of a 5pter and a 6pter. I think the latter personally, if its true about Chapman then its a shame but I don't understand why he would take time out. He got better towards the back end of last season after that terrible injury. Impressed so far with the side we should be uo there, can defo see improvement in JPB, Jack Smith and Tom Bacon.
  18. I would be well chuffed if we sign Tom Bacon!!
  19. Im not too impressed with the AGM, pleased with the 40 point limit and the introduction of the IOW and Colts but a few bad decisions. Firstly don't agree with the scrapping of the tactical rule, I know its not everyones cup of tea but what happens if a team gets off to such a good start, more and more meetings will be over by Heat 8. Secondly and its what infuriated me the most is the introduction of the playoffs, I hate them with a passion. The Elite League has to have them because of Sky and yes they create a bit of end of season drama but they are so unfair. If a side is top of the table after 20 odd matches, they have won the league on MERIT. I cant understand why the promotors have bought them back, we only confirmed the league title in early September, when for a long while it was between 3 clubs and the gold cup was I thought was a success. Another thing, so if Peterborough and the Brummies are riding the same night, its Pboro who get to have Tom Perry. If so that is wrong because even though its great the best NL riders are getting chances in the league above, this league is their bread and butter. I can plenty of matches next year full of guests and R/R. Disappointed with the promotors
  20. Would love Tom Bacon and/or Aaron Mogridge but don't see either happening
  21. I thought Zach would have been annouced today and I wasnt sure if Tom would be back bearing in mind hes a Cradley asset. Still very pleased Mr Entertainment is back for 2016 and I suspect Zach will be the number 1. I dont have any problems with us being top heavy next year, we was last year and won the league!. We currently two of most promising 3pters around in Jack Smith and Jack Parkinson Blackburn so its hardly gonna be a poor bottom end. I'm not 100 per cent sure Sam Chapman will be back esp if the points is reduced.
  22. The problem last season was the limit was too low, many teams included 3pters which lets be honest were not good enough for league racing. At the Brummies for eample we had Adam Ellis who was the best Nl rider imo, in the same team as someone like Harvie Banks who struggled big time. If they reduce the points again even with the inclusion of Belle Vue and IOW, then theres gonna be a mad scramble for 3pters to fill the bottom end of teams and its inevitable some teams will have riders that arnt ready. One of the biggest problems with British Speedway in my opinion is the gap between the Premier League and the National League. There are currently riders that are racing in the PL that you can consider as Elite League heat leaders but how many NL riders would be classed as good enough as being PL heat leaders?. Its fair to say the PL is closer to the EL than the NL. Look at rider like Ben Morley, he is one of the top riders in this league that was banging in double figire hauls for Kent reguarly but when he rode in the PL he struggled to score. I think the NL top boys arnt tested enough and as a result they find progression to the Pl harder. Would decreasing the points limit solve the problem?
  23. Very pleased with the start of our team building, Jack Smith and JPB at reserve should provide us with strong reserve pairing.
