  1. I can remember a few seasons back when Ipswich went to another prominent club and had not been paid for their previous match away there a months previously . So sometimes it is not the fault of the promoters because they have not been paid either
  2. There has been a history of riders not being paid whether in Sweden where all the promoters virtually went broke Poland is also well known for that .One English rider was owed money there and his father demanded he be paid and they drew a gun on him Poland is and still is littered with riders being owed money. So UK are not the only ones
  3. The live tv league match between Arsenal and Man City ,the gate given was over 58,000.Looking at the gaps in the crowd I suspect Diane Abbott was on the turnstiles
  4. From the time Speedway was televised live attendances has never stopped falling at the tracks. TV is the worst enemy that Speedway can have.Attendances at the tracks will never go up until they stop showing it live. It does no favours for any sport
  5. Did you just make these odds up or are they available anywhere
  6. Is it not a terrible crime to say that somebody in not very good before he has a chance to prove himself
  7. there is another film about Speedway that hardly ever gets a mention and that is the 1951 film "There is another sun" It s about a wall of death rider who competes at the local speedway track to wine a top individual prize. It stars Maxwell Reed as Racer the wall of death rider trying to get a bike to compete at the meeting Laurence Harvey and Susan Shaw also starred and directed by Lewis Gilbert who found further fame directing James Bond films
  8. The attendances at the tracks have never gone up in all the time there has been regular televised Speedway
  9. I backed him at 16/1. Easy money especially as I knew he had already won. The first four heats were recorded on Sky but the bookmakers never knew that. Bloody awful meeting despite a good crowd
  10. BT gave me no notice that they would increase my subscription from £27.50 to £34.00 compared to Sky who sent me the following E Mail As your 12 contract in now up we have great pleasure to say this will be renewed for a further 12 months for the same cost of £34.00. This includes everything like films and sports channels all in HD. Slightly better value than BT I think if you have a contract like with BT is it legal to just raise the price when they feel like it .I thought I had a contract for 3 months no charge and 9 months @ £25.00. Then they never put anything in writing
  11. / So if there are four matches on a Monday night and one if televised the gates will be quite a bit down on all the matches. I would hate to be promoting any of those four matches. What's lucky about that?
  12. I was specificly talking about Swindon Speedway as Speedway will certainly still be in the UK in 5 years time
  13. how about where you could park your car
  14. Whatever happens in the future I would think there will not be any Speedway here in 5 years time
  15. amazing that is not one mention of whether League Speedway or GP's will be on BT in this weeks Speedway Star. All this waiting must be losing BT many viewers
  16. So it would seem that there will be no British League speedway on BT this season or there will be a very limited season which they will not start until around June and just show a handful of matches. BT are absolute useless. I took out a subscription with BT last year mainly to watch Speedway My subscriptions were 1st,2nd 3rd months £0.00 4th,5th and 6 month £25.00 a month Then 7th,8th and 9th month £27.50 10th month (now for February) £34.00 so 4 different prices in 10 months so I cancelled on Monday They could not tell me if there would be any League speedway and although I paid 34.00 on Monday it was cut off later on in the evening .I had the choice of seeing out my contract which would cost another £96.00 or cancelling now and costing me £60.00 so I took the latter. It is terrible that they and other internet companies can just raise the prices without any notification
  17. I have just been on to BT Sports to cancel my contract as it has jumped up this month from £27.99 to £35.25. That is the 3rd increase I have had in the last 9 months. Enough is Enough. I asked if there would be League Speedway on this season and after being gone for five minutes came back and said he did not know if it would be on this year. I had the choice of cancelling imiediately for £60 or paying £105 to the end of next month. They are con merchants as they have now cancelled even though they have taken £35.25 out of my account this morning I will now have no problem watching Mobdro or pirate screening in the future is any comes on
  18. On todays St. Petersburg ladies tennis semi final Petra Kvitova and Julia Goerges were led on court by 6 ladies in bright red tennis outfits and looked very fetching. So if you ban them you would also have to ban the players as they were wearing similar outfits I wonder what the politically correct people would say about this
  19. Also at Mildenhall Speedway which was next to the American Air base and nobody complained about the jets that were landing and taking off 24 hours a day/They were probably 100 times louder that a Speeday bike
  20. There are no objections so far from members of the public on the planning page.
  21. They do indeed play with sandpaper bats and use an orange ball.there is also a white ball that they can use once that scores double points that can be used at anytime. . They got the idea watching speedway
  22. Is that like table tennis or is there any difference?
  23. The fixed night's of Monday's and Wednesday's will be a complete disaster. For years Belle Vue have tried to get away from racing on a Monday night which is the worst day of the week for getting people out. then they are back there again. With live TV on a Monday night this will effect attendances at the other Monday meetings on that night, resulting in even less people at the tracks. Much better to have the old system of racing on different nights which has been in operation since the beginning of Speedway in the 1930's. I will be very surprised if this new system lasts for even one season
