Eric Boothroyde looks just like he did when he rode for Oxford in the 60s...
-
Sorry Kev, It was I think between 93-96 for just 1 season! My memory of dates is clouded, I just recall events and riders!!
-
He rode for Oxford as well...
-
He also rode for Norwich in the 60s

I think you have hit it on the head. Isn't it great to have a problem who to choose? The past couple of years we have had little choice. I just wish Bridger could stay on his bike, otherwise it woukd be an even more difficult choice!!!

-

Steve I have sky and + but not HD. Does this mean it will not be transmitted on my Sky system then? -
Olsen Must Go
Brian Hamilton replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I am not really advocating getting rid of Ole Olsen, but merely emphasising the resposibilities of the organisers to ensure that the safety of the riders is paramount and on saturday there was little or no regard to their safety at all. The holes/ruts were there to be seen by everyone in the first 2 or 3 races!!!! -

As said in previous posts her, the GP was a 'Horror Show; and the organisers are totally responsible for it!! There were numerous crashes and countless near misses (Greg Hancock). To continue with the meeting with the track known to be in the condidtion at was, was a perfect example of gross negligence and should be addressed with immediate effect. -

Well I go for the speedway, but I really think that some of the entertainment hass been great(sometimes better than the racing). Tony hadley was good, Bonnie Tyler great, Bjorn again good. Chas & dave Crap. Come on everyone, Cardiff is a great Day out (or has been, until cardif CC have tried to con us with the park & ride situation and Millenium Stadium officials tough on drinks containers and allowing the Poles to do exactly what they want in the stadium) so lets enjoy!! -
Thanks starghost and you other guys, but the chap who mentioned the name may not have realised that many dozens of enthusiasts had a go in those days and called themselves members of the tracks that they tried-out on.

I agree Sandie, Billy is great to watch and is greatly missed. Enjoy Sweden -
Sorry norbold it wasnt Danny. This guy may have been just a novice or second half rider!
-
No, It wasnt Danny, I saw him ride and Promote at Oxford.
-
This is a long shot, but can anyone recall a rider with a surname of Dunphy of Dumphy who rode (not sure what level) at Harringay around the late 1940s and early 1950s?

I was very dissappointed with the racing, or lack of it. The build up was fantastic and they kept saying(or words to the effect) that it was the greatest racing trck in speedway!! I am afraid that I don't see the Polish tracks like that because it seems that you have to make the gate and then keep the throttle wide open! It was certainly not a GP for the marginals... -
Starghost, I did not realise that Eddie Reeves went to KL from Oxford after they won the title!!
-
He wouldn't have been a relative of former rider Pete Seaton?
-
Bobbath, I feel sure you are right, but I am sure he was amiddle order rider for a team not mentioned previously here. I will have to get in my loft and do some research.
