Same problem every time I try to purchase a copy of the Star and use a self scan check out - the barcode not recognized. Tried purchasing at WH Smith in Carlisle and Workington and the barcode would not scan and staff had to enter manual code. They said always happens with Speedway Star! And it's not just WH Smith were the barcode for the Star won't scan. Same problem at Morrisons and Asda!!! There is definitely some issue with the damn barcode!!!

The Reds have been enjoying bumper crowds of late and are definitely on the crest of a wave following their promotion last season when they averaged nearly 800 a game for 8th Tier football. The recent pre-season friendly against Carlisle United attracted over 1500 fans in atrocious weather and I would expect their opening 23/24 NPL fixture will see a 1,000 plus crowd. With Comets choosing to run at the traditional 3pm kick off time for the Reds I think they will see a noticeable drop in their attendance. They will have the same problem when they go head to head with the Reds next Saturday fixture on August 26th.

Does anyone know what became of the proposed plans to revive speedway across the Irish Sea? Think a guy who was involved with Shelbourne speedway in the early 1970s was behind it(Trevor Redmond?)and he'd found a site in Dublin where he was seeking planning permission...there was also talk of a possible track in Limerick??

This was re-staged Round 1 which was originally rained off and was raced @ PORI

Finland seemed to have no trouble witht he silencers when they won the qualifying round, hopefully that will give them an advantage at Kings Lynn! Any news yet on a confirmed line up for the leijonat??

Wasn't there a track in PORTUGAL?? Seem to remember a Grand Prix qualifier staged there in the late 1990's

Kiitos F-S-P! I can remember that meeting being screened on Eurosport! What is the stadium normally used for? Trotting Racing?? Hopefully the speed skating arena may one day get the green light and jaa speedway will get the chance to return to Helsinki...

When was the last time ice-racing was staged in Helsinki and where was the track in the city? I know it's unlikely there will be any meetings there in the near future but would like to check out the track location on my next trip to Finnish capital!! Over to you F-S-P!

I live in Workington and haven't seen anything locally about a start date or even confirmation of this meeting And with Comets racing that same day and the night before at Derwent Park v Berwick it will hit crowd numbers...can anyone else confirm it is definitely on?
