Orion,
Having watched Danny King on numerous occasions on almost every track possible in the UK over the last few years and every meeting home and away over the last two years whilst he was a Panther, I can assure you that with what Rob Lyon had to pick from, Danny's place is more than justified in the Team GB side.
Scott Nicholls, and I'm a fan of his too - although most of the UK is pretending not to be whilst he struggles - does not ride Alwalton particularly well and although I admit Lee Richardson's exclusion was a tad harsh, I dont see that it's a case of Danny denying him a spot at all. Lewis Bridger and Edward Kennett can both be hit and miss at Peterborough as can Chris Harris to say the least, and on his day Dan can outscore the majority at the Showground, if not all, of the 12 man Team GB squad that got selected.
As for Danny being a 6-6.50 point man, well I'm no Mathematics Graduate - and I assume you use numbers too down Swindon way - but he currently has improved his 2009 starting average by about 1.30 this season and has a GSA of 7.42......all this in a struggling Witches side and away from a home track that Dan will admit he is most comfortable on in the UK......that track being the East of England Showground!!! He will also have Michael Lee in his and Tai's corner, and he knows more about what engine and set-up is needed for our track than anyone, even more so this year now he is the clubs Technical Advisor.
His 11 points in April when Ipswich came calling further highlighted that.
And Kelvin Tatum you ought to be reading this too...shock inclusion my a**e, it was a sensible horses for courses decision by Rob Lyon.
So think before you get your keyboard in gear, he may not ride the bumps of Blunsdon too well but then SWC Event 2 isnt being staged in Wiltshire my boy now is it?
