If you are British and want to get on in speedway but you are not that great or short of money ,best thing to do would be to change your name to Shane , and get some acting lessons on how to speak like an Aussie , then you will have a van sponsors , and promoters falling over themselves to offer you team places , best thing about this approach ,If you are not an instant heat leader it wont matter you can just cruise along improving at your own pace while being paid , if theres an english rider at the same place on the learning curve ,it's them who will get dropped ,while you happily continue under achieving

There are still people holidaying in the IOW who dont know the speedway exists , had a friend go recently and |i said you can go to speedway on thursday ,he came back and said I never saw anything about speedway , he could be walking around with blinkers on .or there may still be work to do ?

Awards have bog all to do with deserve .otherwise Chris Hoy , Bradley Wiggins etc . would still be just that , while Nigel Boocock would be Sir Nigel . and the remaining 2 members of the Who would be sir Pete and sir Roger ,, Pete and Rogers charity work has so far Brought in 10 million for teenage cancer wards , what has Wiggins or Hoy done that makes them deserving ?

here's my suggestion , kids should start out practising , and also ride in the junior classes at amateur meetings , then when they are sufficiently skilled and comfortable , should join the British youth championship (Competitive racing in meetings with kids of similar age and ability ) these meetings are all at weekends not interfering with school or Their main sponsors at this point , mum and dad's work , Once they are 15 and not before , they should be riding in MDL, NJL,or SDL on 500ccc bikes , competitive racing in a structured team atmosphere , This final step of course ,will require a massive change of attitude by the promoters ,SCB and BSPA , because at the moment all 3 leagues are being treated as another income stream by the BSPA , and as if it's something nasty the promoters have trodden in , all premiership and championship clubs should have a team in one or other league , where curfew may be a problem ,run the junior league event before the main match , junior leagues are subject to all the rules and a few extra regulations of professional leagues , yet are treated as some sort of sideshow ,to be cancelled at a whim of track staff or any other reason , that has to stop , these are the stepping stones to the national league and beyond and need to be shown the same respect as the leagues they are feeding , then we might see some future mainstays of british speedway coming through , not getting to 17 and quitting the sport Chris Morton MBE , Kelvin Tatum MBE , Ivan Mauger MBE

Kid wants to think himself lucky he has a team place and the IOW stuck by him ,not exactly a world beater .only in his own mind , but wants to negotiate contracts ,you couldn't make this stuff up ,

I would like to see a lot more detail , heat results and everybodies score from this round and the whole championship . all the kids went and did their best and all the kids deserve to see their name in lights , not everybody can make the top 4 ,but they all deserve a mention if it's only their overall score

has Jim lynch ever been successful ?, I can only really remember him at Peterborough. but don't know his track record ,, certainly has to be better than Norrie Allen , or Hemsley being operated with his wifes hand up the back of his jumper

making your way in British speedway is no fun at all , it costs far too much and the fun is drained out of it by jumped up nododies and Billy no mates , thinking they are king of the world and pushing kids to take risks they wouldn't dream of taking themselves for a couple of hours a week

I used to supply Alf Weedon ,with T shirts for his track shops , he always had a story to tell and knew everybody who was anybody in speedway , i said to him a few times you should write a book Alf , but he never got round to it which was a shame because it would have been an interesting read to say the least ..

so if you don't have rich parents who also have the time to take you everywhere , and you reach 25 ,you should just take up bowls ? what about the lads who are happy to ride in the Nl and have no ambition to become professional riders , or the ones who are realistic enough to know that speedway is never going to pay the bills so it has to be fitted in with fulltime work . lets take them out as well . maybe the NL season could be run from the end of June till the end of August ,so as not to interfere with school terms , lets attract a lot of Kids Like Josh Bailley . or Jack Parkinson Blackburn , chuck a team place at them the minute they are 15 and have them burned out and quitting at 17 , or maybe lads like Chris Hay ,shaun Phillips , adam extance , cameron hoskins , james whyte williams , give them all teram places long before they are ready and when they are not GP standard in a few weeks , demoralise them by dropping them in favour of the next wonder kid .

So now we know , Tai's massive project , is to find out who robbed his house while he was racing in prague and see if he can get his world championship medals back

Don't get to see much of the city from my television , and I'm fast losing interest in the GP series with no British representative , I'll only bother with this one if I'm at a loose end , haven't watched any this year after the qualifying races anyway ,

I havent seen any foxy stuff on jacks bikes , his wheels are very special though , anodized with orange and black splatters , they would be immediatley recognisable ,
