I think the current format is fine, much better then a few years ago when there were 3 qualifiers & then a race off. Definetly need a change of venue tho. the Poles are strong & keep getting home advantage, that to me just doesn't make sense. Sweden should have a final soon, GB deserve a final & the way Russia are going they will be deserving of a final soon also. To keep alternating between Poland & Vojens is a) unfair & a wee bit monotonous... Tex

British Final And Semi Finals
RPNY replied to gypilgrim's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Well living on the other side of the world I only got to see a Sky re run last night & I have to say I thought it was a good meeting. No major suprises, but plenty of incident & passing, all in all a decent British final & I'm happy Scott is the Cardiff Wild Card as in my opinion he is the most likely to make an impact on the day. If I could change a few things about the british final, firstly Id like to see 8 seeded and then a semi final for the other 8. Half the field is a pretty fair split & means we dont get a situation like Tai & Lee again. Secondly I'd love to see it at a big fast track like P'boro, K Lynn, Sheff and on either a Friday/Saturday/Sunday. I appreciate that it's logistically not the easiest but I think it would add to the etertainment and attract more fans. My real 1st choice would be to have it at Coventry but that would be to unfair with the amount of Bees riders in the field at present... The interviews showed me that the riders all really still care for this title. Scott was devestated. I don't think he is not bothered about Cardiff, more that he just really wanted to br British Champion. All in all I thought it was a good meeting, well done bomber & Scotty, here's to Cardiff! -

Who Can Be World Champion 2010 ?
RPNY replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
When was a one off World Final one by someone who wasnt one of the top 4/5 pre meeting favourites? And that is a genuine question Im not trying wind anyone up. -
I do love the Cardiff GP, year in year out I think its a fantastic day. I also really enjoyed Krsko, although the year I went (2006) was widely regarded as one of the best GPs ever. Think its a shame that its no longer on the GP circuit. Copenhagen was a lot of fun. great stadium, good track and 20 odd thousand drunk out their mind Danes were v good entertainment. One I thought was awesome tho was Stockholm. It was a cracking GP, nice little stadium & a beautiful city to visit. Couldnt believe it was never used again.

I can accept Vojens staging a GP but the World Cup & the GP Challenge too... Unfair on a lot of other tracks. It ALWAYS rains there too!
-
So the final just rotates between Denmark & Poland now? This competiton becoming well and truely de valued. Why dont UK get another go? How about Sweden, havent staged it at all to my knowledge. Czech deserve a chance, Croatia I could go on...

One that we're gonna win this time.

Couldnt agree more WJM
-
is it better then the other 2 Polish venues?? Im not so sure. Poland having 3 GP's is a total P take imo.
-
Cannot be true!
-
IMO Lezno, Malilla, Vojens & the Itlaian round should either be replace with a better venue or not in the series.

It pains me to say it but there is not a single Englishman worthy of a seeded place in next years GP. However out of all we have at the moment, it would seem Richardson would probably do the best out of them given his form in the leagues/world cup this year. Thats just my opinion... I would love to see a return of the GP challenge with 8 qualifiers and the bottom 8 at the end of th current GP season fighting it out for the remaining GP places. Those meetings were immense.

World U21 Final 3rd October Gorican
RPNY replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Poor Tai, looks like he was very unlucky... -
Does anyboday know why such a talented rider was lost to British speedway at such a young age? And did he continue to ride in California after his European career was over?
-
I just hope Tai wins the World U21 final at least then they can use that as the reason he is seeded into the GP's...

Nordic Gp, Vojens 29-08-2009
RPNY replied to Peter S.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I thought it was an ok GP. Being on the other side of the world, I managed to stay awake till 5:30am watching it this time - fell asleep halfway through the last 2. Nice to see Crump not have things all his own way. Not so good that Tomas & Greg couldnt make up any ground. -

Any reason Bridger wasnt wearing his Eastbourne kevlars? -
IMO, BSI/IMG are saturating the market. 11 rounds are too many. They should have 8-10 rounds, build the series around the great stadiums/tracks like Cardiff, Copenhagen (crap this year but generally good) Bydgoszcz, scrap the places that are just ordinary at best such as Latvia, Vojens etc. Get some other new exciting tracks/places involved (LA, Tokyo, Sydney, St P'burg, Moscow, new Stadium in Torun to name a few posibilities) The bottom 2 should drop out every round, allowing for new 'form' riders to take there place. It would keep it fresh & more importantly mean that the best 16, or at least close to, riders in the world would be compting in each round. All academic as nothings going to change but just though Id have my say!

Doesnt suprise me, its always money which it the ultimate factor!

Definately not the best GP I've ever seen, which is a shame because Cardiff was very good & the World Cup was pretty Damn good from start to finish. I really dont see the point in this GP. Year after year its a bore fest. They only get a crowd of 10k plus its on TV at not such a good hour in the UK because of the time difference. If they have one in Russia, surely this one gets tinned? There are too many GP's at the moment, should be 10 rounds tops, but really could be cut down to 8 or so.
