CARDIFF to be or not to be?
RPNY replied to lbw's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It annoys me greatly that Poland get so many GPs (even before Covid) and we get 1. They would easily sell out a Manchester GP in either May/Sep while still getting good numbers for Cardiff in July. -
CARDIFF to be or not to be?

I think the BSPA fail on many fronts however as a total package I struggle to see how they can upgrade from Cardiff. Wembley? Too big. Spurs, not a great area, nothing to do round the stadium. And of course neither of those have a roof. Olympic stadium possibly. I believe the roof would cover the track and at least theres the mall, bars n restaurants near. On the whole Cardiff ticks most boxes tho -
CARDIFF to be or not to be?

It amazes me that Cardiff has averaged around 40,000 from 2001 to 2019 and yet its popularity is being questioned. -

Negative people on here moan about the track but the fact is that there wasnt one bad event a cardiff. As a live spectacle it was brilliant. I went every year except 2017 was always a great atmosphere and Id be suprised if there was a single person at the stadium who went home dissapointed. Loads of people who arent Speedway regulars go to Cardiff. Madness if they dont have a Staduim in the UK. Yes Belle Vue is a great track and I wish it was also in the GPs. But the Stadium events are something else. -
Hows the weather in Manc?

He and Paul Bellamy were very close so I'm sure he would have been waiting to find the right words rather than rush a statement out

Still so sad, we've lost a superb man there.

Absolutely devastated to hear this. First met Phil back in 2012 and he was an absolute Gent. Not only tremendously helpful and generous whenever I would travel over to watch GP's but always a great laugh too. He may have been almost 30y years my senior but he was as good a company in the pub as anyone you could ever wish to meet. We've lost a passionate supporter of our sport, a wonderful writer, superb story teller, but most importantly a lovely, lovely man. I'll miss our chats, I'll miss his stories. I'll miss my buddy. Sleep easy my friend, I'm glad you’re not hurting anymore.

Awful, been about a month now hasnt it? Not even highlight shows. Not exaclty prmoting British speedway as we need it!
-
They ever gonna bother showing anymore matches?!
-
Only an armchair viewer but quite the opposite. Belle Vue Sheffield was great, Peterborugh Wolves ditto. SEC round 1 was very good, Glasgow GP qualifier was brillaint.

RPNY replied to Speedway fan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not being disrespectful but thats never happening so the solution is just prepare the track properly... -
Why hasnt the Eurosport money been used to help try and save this great venue?

2021 GP Series Dates
RPNY replied to therefused's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If this is sadly hre case, Manchester/Sheffield probably 2 best for tracks/stadiums/travel -
Have to agree with all of this. I know people got of up of Poland Winning but last 4 seasons of SWC there were 3 different winners. Now we've had Russia win 3 times in a row and they will be favorites next year with these 2. SWC threw up some outstanding racing. Was madness to change it IMO. Maybe Pairs one year, SWC the next. But Just rolling out the SoN every year isnt that much fun anymore...

Whoever made the U21 rule, its crap. And Robs us all of decent races because 9 times out of 10 they come in and finish last by a distance...
