There's no way you could have seen the world cup. hahaha I know.

He has valid reasons for all of the above. As did the other riders mentioned/. You just refuse to even acknowledge them.

I find it sad this is still even being debated. he's ridden for GB since 2008, never EVER let the team down. The year after winning the World Championship he promoted the sport in Britain like crazy. This year at the world cup he was faultless. As a rider, a captain and fan favorite he didn't put a foot wrong. I'm baffled people are still giving him stick. Yes he quit the EL but so have many others. Yes he's quit Team GB, but so did Lee Rico god bless him, Scotty Nic, even Bomber threatened to in the past. Yes he seems to be closer friends with the Aussie lads then the British lads, but that it's not his fault that Holder, Ward, Doyle, Batch etc were close in standard, age, popular culture to him than the British boys. And yes, he may not say stuff to everyone's liking but who in the public eye does? I happen to think for a kid who left school at 16 he's pretty eloquent and speaks well MOST of the time. I'm not saying the guy is perfect and last year in Melbourne signing the Aus anthem and not GB anthem was not a great move. Part of me thinks he was on the wind up to those who are constantly have a dig at him. However, I for one would rather think of him as the son a British Parents, born in Scunny, seen wearing and England football shirt as a kid in Life of Tai, came here at 16 with FA dough, rode his balls off everywhere he went. Raised 100's of Thousands of pounds for BRITISH charity's and most importantly has given 100% every time he's ridden wearing the Union Jack. Everythign pretty academic to me.

I'm a huge fan of Bomber. Obviously a very nice lad, good rider, genuine World Class a few years back and can never be faulted for effort and entertainment. However what I find incomprehensible, is that he puts all this effort in to staying in the GPs and then does little to no testing or preparation in the winter pre season. All the other riders announce what they are doing and Bomber goes into GP 1 every season saying he's struggling with his set up. Mind blowing to me.

Fair point but I still say it's not too difficult to read between the lines

He had a petulant moment on social media which is what the majority of 20 somethings do these days. Not my style or many others on here but it really isnt that un common. I'm not so sure why people are so perplexed by it. He "aint being mugged off no more" At an educated guess he's asked for improvements and they've said no. His poor grammar aside, nothing too controversial is there. Phil Rising did a big article in the SS not so long ago about the state of the BSPA. Riders, both former and current talk non too favorably about them. I'd say it's pretty clear that need serious improvements.

We can all agree to disagree on who is right and who is wrong. But the sad fact of the matter is after a Superb SWC final where Tai led the team superbly, we finished second and there was a brilliant feel good factor about it all, it's now come crumbling down. Very very sad. Let's hope someone with some common sense can step in and get this sorted.

Funny as a car crash you are

Wont disagree with you boss, but he was involved in the set up and had gripes...

Time For Teamgb To Move On Without Woffinden.
RPNY replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think you are missing the point. BSPA treat their riders like sht, even Bomber was fuming this year that he was made to ride in a qualifier which left him with no travel time for the GP. If they continue to do this no top rider will ride in Britain or want to compete in the SWC. Lamberts already had a lot of run ins with them and he's 18! -
Or cheer him on when he's winning
-
Shame we didn't get a full explanation from Tai but I think it doesn't take a genius to work out where the problem lies. Jim Lynch, Rob Lyon, Scotty Nicholls, Lee Rico (gob bless you bud) & now all Woffy have all been vocal with their criticism of the BSPA & there are many many others who do too. From the outside looking in doesn't seem to hard to see where the problem is..

One example, he wins a world championship, top scores for Britain in the SWC and plucks a girl out crowd to give her his Silver medal and therefore gets a full page spread in The Sun newspaper, which is read by 10s of millions of people. That whether you like it or not is an example of being a huge asset. Free advertisement of our sport to a huge amount of people. Riding in the British league, but coming middle of the field (at best) in any Speedway meetings of note, doing an interview on how you couldnt get the set up right and you need more big meeting experience does not get you in the national press. And unfortunately at present that is all our other 'top' GB riders do.. That is just one example of how he is good for Speedway in Britain.

I think this argument crops up among a lot of sports, I think in general people like to look through rose tinted glasses, think that it was always better in days gone by. I for one think the standard is as good now as it's ever been. I feel like although Greg has a healthy lead at the moment, theres still 4 riders who can realistically be WC this year. In the mid to late 80s it was only ever going to be Hans or Eric and that was in the one off format. The 90s had a handful of contenders fighting it out year on year, - but admittedly it did produce many different world champions. In the Early 2000's it was essentially only TRik/Crump/Gollob who were fighting it out. So I dont really go with it was much harder back then. What I'm trying to say there's always been the top few who were just a little bit better than the rest. Greg is 46 yes but he's so far of the game mentally and mechanically that it counter balances his age. I wouldnt say an 'old' rider leading the SGP s an illustration of a drop in standard.

When has he ever thrown his toys out the pram? And I'm not being all defensive I just dont member his ever throwing a tempter tantrum before. Seems like a pretty chilled out fella.

A Few Years Down The Line
RPNY replied to B.V 72's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It really is one hellava conveyor belt of riders Poland have. However never rule the Scandi's out. Plus the Russians have some good riders coming through. Seems the Brits that are struggling. We have some good riders but unfortunately seem to fall short when it comes to the world stage. In reality Woffy and Lambert are likely to be at that level for the foreseeable future. And they were Aussie & German trained... -
What a meeting that was. Racing was superb.

Nice input, very interesting thank you for that.

Darcy Ward Interview At Poole 3/8/2016
RPNY replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I have to say from what I've read and seen she seems like an absolute god send. Very few girls (particularly so young) Would have acted the way she has. -
I think they are good at what they do. I guess some fans don't like their over excited way of commentating however as I said on another thread, that is very much the Sky Sport way across pretty much all the sports they cover. I guess it's also unique to Speedway in that they are the commentators no matter what channel we watch it on so there isnt the variation that you get with other sports. Anyway all in all I think they do a good job.

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
RPNY replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
After very much enjoying riding in Manchester last week, I'd hope that he would be more keen to ride in the BF next year. That and some better planning from the BSPA, it SHOULD be easy to sort out. But when has it ever been easy in this sport. -
100% agree
