Speedway World Cup 2017
RPNY replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The guy got drilled by a load of morons a week ago and is having a bit of an F U moment which although I'm sure he knows it would rile a few people, he makes a well deserved point. I don't know Tai that well but having spoken to him a few times about these sort of situations I can tell you that 'no comment' did not mean 'I told you so' Rosco and a couple of the boys (Lambert aside) all had their subtle digs at him during this week when they had winning a weak event 1 Swagger about then. But people are selective on who's out of order aren't they -

Embarrassing. It's Not 70s/80/90s where there was little to no way for inexperienced Brits knowing about an Eastern European track. They can YouTube it, visit it on Ryanair for less than 100 quid, speak to other more experienced riders... Not the same as riding it but at least some idea not to go into completely cold. This is nothing new, same last time we blitzed event 1 and went straight through to the final Madness Woffy wasn't there. Not just for his points. He's experience with big events, engine set ups woulda been have been invaluable. Rosco been walking around with a big grin since event 1. He should been game face, prepping the boys. Not talking about water slide races and what fun they were having. Like the rest of BSPA, jobs for the boys. I don't think rider for rider we were worse than the Russians - or much worse than Sweden to be honest. As per perpetration and and set ups were miles behind though. Face that we are applauding Bomber and Stevie for scoring 7/6 points (me included) is sad really -

Well they already went from 5 to 4, think it would be a shame to go even lower just to stop Poland winning. Stop staging the thing in Poland would be a start... I understand what you are saying, but I still dont think its a crisis for the Danes just yet. -

Yesterday was a TERRIBLE result for the Danes. However I wouldnt say it's crisis just yet. Plenty of riders to choose from, way more than GB in truth. Just a bad patch. They will be back. Individually and as a team. I think Alternating the pairs and and SWC is a good idea. Keep it all a little fresher and give a few more opportunities for other nations to win gold! -

The World cup Events 1 & 2 have generally been 2 horse race but still thrown up some great racing over the years. Just a shame (racing not result wise!) that this year In Event 1, the Aussies were off form, Brits road above themselves, USA were Greg-less, Czechs were awful & track not much better... -

SPOT ON. Like Soccer players from countries with lesser leagues, they learn their craft at home then go onto bigger and better things. Not the riders fault UK is no longer the #1 league... -
Thats the spirit
-
yea maybe right. I just cant see any Brit riders being better than him before he retires
-
Tai will be GBs best rider for the next 10 years whether we like it or not.
-
I think hes happy to ride for GB if there isnt a clown outfit running the show.
-
I understand your reasons for disdain. But he should be in the team. IF it is at Belle Vue next year, with Cookie (on current form) and improved Lambert and Woffinden, then GB could have a genuine chance of winning the thing. The first time since ****ing 1989!!! So egos need to be put aside for the greater good.

really hope this is true

Horsens June 24th 2017
RPNY replied to Wiseguy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I will respectfully disagree with this. I dont think the problem is the venue. Cracking little Stadium, correct capacity size for current climate. 3 years there's been 3 superb GPs. 2015 the place went bonkers when Danes finished 1st & 3rd, same last year Niki made the final. This year its hardly a surprise there was much less local interest then years gone by. No Danes in top 5 let alone pushing for a medal spot. And after 2 races each the Danish riders had maybe 7 points between them. So again the atmosphere would have been lessened. We cant judge all GPs by Cardiff's standard... -
Thank you Shads. Im hoping BMR know what they are doing with the Stadium and the team. The crowds seem to be healthy at the moment, be a crying shame if they let that slip.

Yes but they wont finish 4th. -
Well as we enter the halfway stage I have to say this is as good a GP series as I can Remember. They messed up the track for round 1, a shame as have seen some cracking GPs there in the past. Anyway since then its been unreal racing in the following rounds. I guess it's easy. Put the best riders on well prepared tracks and the racing will be great. Crowds look like they are good at every event thus far, the racing has been out of this world and its so competitive its borderline impossible to pick a winner in a race let alone an entire GP. Even Lindback who's bottom of the pile isn't riding badly. Interesting to see if Dudek can hold out down the stretch. Will Woffinden, Hancock, Holder be able to come good in the 2nd half of the season. Will Lindgren, Vaculik tail off... So many possibilities.. One Gripe, Poland shouldn't have 3 rounds. UK could easily have a 2nd round in Manchester.

Why no A Laguta for Russia, any idea? I cant comment on the GB team, its too painful for me... -
Horsens June 24th 2017
RPNY replied to Wiseguy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It was still a pretty decent crowd I bet they weren't too upset with that at all. Must have been 10k there. Not too shabby. The Danes performing so badly this year certainly would not have helped tho. I for one really hope Horsens stays in the SGP calendar. Cool little stadium, served up 3 belting GPS thus far. Id say with current old guard although off form at moment still all more than capable on their day & Madsen (very underrated IMO) Jepsen Jensen, Thomsen & a few others the Danes are not a spent force just yet. -
How do we all asses our first season in the op flight? From looking at the results and watching a fair few clips on youtube looks like its been preety good thus far. Would be better with an outright #1 of course. But on the whole seems ok.

Grand Prix Challenge 2017

I can only imagine that the GP Challenge was put in Russia with the hope of more Russian presence in the GPs next year. It's a logistical nightmare staging a meeting there! -

Still shocked G Laguta wasnt chosen. I assumed this track was picked as a venue for that very reason -

Why on earth hasn't G Laguta been given a Wild Card?!!!
