  1. another of my heroes, however since poole have become the best team in the country, his posts are not so amusing. i sense that poole need to be struggling for us to see mr shovlar at his best
  2. your own thread subedei,i am so jealous. you really are a forum star any chance of a signed photo?
  3. hope to see andreas back soon,he is a very talented, very exciting, brave rider
  4. must have drunk too much, struggling to keep up,who is cute and cuddly?,andym, subedei or lindback?
  5. so the man winning by the proverbial country mile, who gets an e/f and comes last,is considered worse than the man tailed off at the back. ok!
  6. prior to my marriage,i had very low standards, but thats for a different thread. if lindback a man just into his twenties and into his 3rd? gp series,a guaranteed selection for one of the worlds top speedway nations is not world class by your standards then, fine. i would love to hear who you think is world class in football or cricket
  7. surely subedei, that depends on your definition of a "world class rider"
  8. maybe its all the effort he is putting into the youth training scheme. does anyone know if jason has an asbo,or is doing a community service stint?
  9. i was monitoring stan james odds and after 20 heats their odds listed hampel, not andersen,so obviously they were confused as well(as was hans who was packing up)
  10. i have not bothered to read all the gp rules, because as i have said before i am LAZY LAZY LAZY,however i did think they were fairly basic and that i had the full grasp of them. but was completely shocked, when hans got 2nd choice in the final, surely that totally flies in the face,of the"get what you deserve" rules, that appear to be in place.
  11. something kicked into gear with kennett after the match at lakeside,i saw him at eastbourne this year and was disappointed, but since the essex match he has been top class. if the stattos out there were to look at his average since lakeside(and include all guest appearances) his record takes a completely different stance
  12. would have to agree,at the moment, thats about as good as it gets
  13. i regularly walk around, the grassed over new cross track.
  14. must be,i just logged on,entered and then clicked on the blue and yellow european draw square, and up it came
  15. have a look at www.speedwayworld.tv race card there you can print off
  16. if you knew the man,and knew his wife, you would know there were extenuating circumstances, thats not to say his actions were in anyway justified, but we do all have very different breaking points. there are many people on this forum who disagree with my viewpoint, and given the serious nature of what happened,i would assume their thoughts are pretty much set in stone. and to those people i would say i respect your position and your opinions, and we will have to agree to disagree. regards your point i suppose his suicide is taken by many to express his regret, but it has to be said your scenario,is equally as valid, and we will probably never find the absolute truth. on a more pleasant note,do you live near perth?
  17. totally agree andym,of course i dont condone what kenny did,but you cant dismiss his achievements on the track.
  18. maybe you have a point but in the words of atticus finch, we shouldn't judge someone until we have walked around in their shoes. i am well aware of what happened 21 years ago,and there was certainly a lot more to it than many people know, however its not my place to judge him as a man one way or the other. as a speedway rider,he was first class
  19. the old new cross track is now just a field between housing estates, all that i can find of the old stadium is a couple of grassed over wooden steps, although there is a stone memorial on the ground. i am currently researching for a book on ron johnson, and would welcome the opportunity to meet with anyone and share information
  20. we are just coming up to the 21st anniversary of kenny's death. i know halifax very well and had many great times there, and was lucky enough to meet kenny on a few occasions,a tormented soul, but nevertheless the greatest british rider since peter craven. my two greatest memories of speedway will always be,terry betts (golden helmet) sportsmanship. and kenny carter with broken leg being carried to his bike and winning the british title. rest in peace kenny
  21. personally when i watch the gp's i just want to see the worlds top riders on show,we all have opinions on who are the worlds top 15,but surely most people would have gollob and nicholls in their list. the system of riders going through on final positions,a qualifying process and through selected wildcards, seems acceptable to me,as long as the system is not abused,i agree with subedei on the basic principle of his argument, that over the last two years it has been. ommiting hans andersen last year, and continually overlooking peter karlsson, are shocking decisions in my opinion, and clearly chris harris this year and lee richardson previously have been selected just because they are english, which is grossly unfair. however as hypocrisy comes easily to me , if chris finishes in the top ten this year,i will be happy to overlook my objections and welcome his inclusion in 2008. back to the topic of the thread, and whether the new scoring system is the "way to go" personally i think yes,but time will tell and at the end of the season,i might have a different viewpoint. i wonder how many of the detractors are visionaries, and how many are luddites
  22. my reasons for coming on a forum such as this salty, are that i love speedway, and am an opinionated bore,if we all waited for the outcome before we passed judgement, there would be very little to debate. in my defence however,i will always accept that i might be wrong in my opinions, and am always happy admit my mistakes.
  23. whilst i agree with you that any reference to other sports, and their competions, are totally invalid.we will have to agree to disagree over the new points system. however if the majority of speedway supporters agreed with you,and the system, reverted back, you would hear no complaints from me
  24. of course its theoretically possible,as are many things, and someone winning a gp and not being the nights top scorer,is almost a certainty. but your suggestion that the system has been brought in to benefit one certain rider,is too absurd to be true. and you dont drink?
  25. i meant sube, that the man who wins the gp is rewarded by being hailed "the winner", and everyone is rewarded by the points they score
