Somerset v King's Lynn KO Cup final 1st leg 17/10/18

It’s going to be very hard for the Rebels to get anything out of this I think. Three riders down is too much , BWD and Jack are big misses , and Summers was showing good form when he got injured. If Lawson was on better form i think Gary may have gone for r/r to give Doyle another ride, not sure now. -
Very very unlucky Stars you had no luck at all I have to say, losing Iversen and MPT was the nail in the coffin. Pirates very fortunate but in this stupid way we run this league probably an apt result. See you in the KO Cup final next week , hopefully Gary can sneak in an over average rider ( with approval of course ) . PS very well done for finishing as table toppers, respect.

I am neutral in as far as I am neither a Poole or KL fan. I am a fan of speedway though and the play off idea is a bad thing in my opinion. I agree with you that Poole did ride well last night in the match but what you personally cannot seem to grasp is the bad decisions by the ref cost the table toppers dear. I do not believe for one second that you believe MPT could have stayed on in that incident. My gripe is with the play offs , it always was and is. I rarely post on other teams threads only if my team Somerset are involved. I will be cheering KL on tomorrow as you ask, but not through any hatred towards your team , but purely to see the top team get their recognition as the best team over the season.
-
And that my friend in a nutshell is why the whole rip offs idea at the end of the season is a joke. I am a neutral in all of this , the nature , danger and unpredictability of the sport make it a very unfair thing to ask a team that has toiled away all season to finish top to go through. Maybe losing with a full team is bad enough, but not getting there over truly awful decisions by officials and rule changing really is the limit. Come on the sport is dying on its feet, let’s not make it s joke as well.
-
I think that is just about right. The so called climax to the season is a joke. Been trying to explain this to a non Speedway sports fan. His face is a picture lol. So this is how it went, a team finished 9 points behind the top team . They then qualified for a two match shoot out with the top team, and then were allowed to field an over strength team .
-
So which of you said on here to me about the playoffs “ you all know the rules and signed up for them”, now because the hated rip offs have got s problem with rider availability ( in the middle of October, surely not), we change “the rules” so a team go into the final over the allowed average. That team is Poole. Rebels could not sign Harris because apparently he was 0.1 over the limit, fair enough. You really couldn’t make it , just watch Morris score a load now. It’s just made an already ridiculous situation even more barmy. Imo it should have been left as it was , at least the two teams average wise were evenly matched.

In the interviews has Zmarzlik been on the Helium lol

Woofy magnificent.

I thought Poole didn’t want Jack because of some disciplinary issue.

I was sort of half expecting you to pipe up Starman . Why on earth would I want to holla and scream at you????, not my style mate. What has my post got to do with how Gary took the defeat? I’m so pleased you hope we win something, it’s a KO Cup competition and we have knocked out teams to get to the final. We haven’t got there by some back door wink .
-
Yes good luck next week, you have managed to miss the point of the whole post. For what it is worth it would mean nothing to me if we had won the playoffs, because I know we have not been the best team over the season, can you not see that. Do I think we were beaten by a better team over two legs, no is the honest answer because you didn’t ride against a full team. However you can only race against who is up against you. You say my post is full of ifs and buts yet you say Brady “probably “ would have scored more points than Jack, ok , how do you know ? Remember Jack was past Brady in heat 4 and it was Brady’s error that bought them both down. Hasn’t Brady’s form been a bit off lately whilst Jack has been scoring well in Poland. As you say ifs and buts on both sides, but it remains that whatever happens next week we were the second best team and you were the third this season. I enjoy my Speedway like we all do and I will watch next week hoping for a KL win , nothing st all to do with yesterday’s result but all about the correct team being crowned Champions.
-
First sorry for getting the third and fourth mixed up, it is irrelevant tho. I was remarking in the luck last night, not anything to do with the season as a whole. The form you refer to is valid as the Champions should be the best team over the whole season, not the result of a little four match shoot out at the end. Poole were indeed rock bottom at one point and improved their team enough to finish third, not top. If you enjoy the same sort of fortune against KL that you clearly enjoyed against us you will be Champions apparently. As a sports fan does that not seem like a hollow victory?. I would like to point out again this is not a dig at Poole just this bizarre way of crowning our Champions. It has been suggested that the play offs are “good tv”, so if BT gong league action next season, why not gong the play offs as well so who ever finishes top of the pile at the end of the season are the true Champs. Any team would have struggled with five riders in any match, to run the third best team in the league away from home was a fantastic effort by the lads.
