Top 10 Riders On Current Form
Cliffeboy replied to barrow boy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Doyle has been absolute quality this year for both Somerset and Swindon. I`m pleased for him after his injury woes over the last couple of seasons. It`s strange to think that at the beginning of last season nobody had signed him! -
One of my all time favourites at the OTA,and it was sad to see him not push on last season.I hope he does well , however I`m not sure a small track suits his style, gating not being one of his strong points as I said when there was a rumour he may go to Rye.One thing he will not do is quit if the going gets tough.
-
So Boxall`s done another runner, and been replaced by Cory, was there a text this time????I really do not understand him,he does have a talent, but obviously something isn`t quite right "upstairs". I think he will really struggle to get fixed up now, that`s Somerset ( who loaned him his equipment) Uncle Len ( who preferred him to Doyle for some reason ) and now the Devils who offered him a route back, all been let down badly. I think it`s back to being a gas fitter for him, probibly best for all concerned.
-
Might be wrong but I`m not sure Cory would be too keen on Rye`s tight strip, gating is not one of his strong points.
-
Better RACING will provide bigger gates imo, no matter what anyone tries to tell you it is still a big gate and go track at Rye which would not change whoever turns up to race.I personally think it needs to be wider especially on the straights, which are very narrow,I don`t think I ever seen three abreast there, too scary. We often discuss whether the track could be widened by using the dog track which I think is not used any more.It may cost the Rockets a bit of home advantage to begin with, but I believe once they are bedded in the racing would improve. For what it is worth I would certainly make more visits.
-
Here`s a little teaser for you Rockets,although it`s a bit late now I think,Cory for Luke......
-
Agree and disagree, yes I don`t think it is right to change a rider at this late stage just cos someone else is suddenly avaliable, however if the rider is Boxall,he ain`t exactly Mr.Loyalty is he? What goes around, comes around.
-
Your going to go to Plymouth rather than Somerset, who you going out with Miss World..............
-
I think you were fortunate to get Doyle last season, the Rebels wanted him but apparantly there was a snag over money, not sure though, and Jason found himself without a club,When Moose got injured the Rebels used Jason a couple of times and he was superb. The reason he went to Rye was probibly a case of nowhere else to go,it is well known that it isn`t one of his favourite venues, and the oppurtunity would not have arisen had Boxall not got "ahem injured".Doyle`s back as skipper this season so the chance of him ever going to Rye over Somerset is probibly a bit off the mark, and a Rye team with Doyle in it to be "favourites for the league" I suggest you look at the "2012 line ups" section of the BSF and think again.
-
Bunyan has developed a bit of a reputation for injuries of late,if he stays fit he could be a matchwinner.Nelson is a bit wild so the above could happen.......tricky.
-
I need to read posts better, still won`t be buying the prog though,it`s awful.I`ve noticed a lot of the local fans bring their own scorecard rather than puchase the prog.
-
I cannot believe they are now charging £3 for easily the worst programme in the league,it`s the one track I go to that I refuse to buy.

Ipswich 2012
Cliffeboy replied to cowboy cookie returns?'s topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I agree the side looks very useful, however I`m not sure Heeps and Tungate will be quite the match winners you are hoping for.I believe they are both 17,very young at this level. As the season goes on I`m sure they will do ok. Doolan can be a bit hit and miss as can Risager, however Dak,Taylor and Mat are solid signings imo, keep those three fit and you will be there at the sharp end. -
Sverre Harrfeldt Exclusive Interview
Cliffeboy replied to TonyMac's topic in Classic Speedway Magazine
Sverre was great in his one season with Wembley,he went from reserve that nobody wanted ,to a heat leader. His best action was when he was riding with Bert Harkins, electric out of the traps he would head straight for the dirt outside, and then Bert would sneak up the inside, easy 5-1`s especially around the Empire Bowl.It was such a shame that Wembley folded after that 71 season,I reckon if they had kept that team together, they would have won things in 72, Harkins,Haarfeldt,Nordin (Class),Clarke,Jessup,Collins and Leonard. -
As a Rebels supporter I was quite surprised when Jordan elected to go to Rye.I think the idea was to try to improve his gating which was the downside to his form for us.I think the experiment hasn`t worked for him,I`ve seen him a few times at Rye,when he gates he`s ok ( like most people ),however when he doesn`t it is not an easy place to get by other people, and this was most definitely one of his strong points at the OTA, where he used to chase people down and get past.He could do a lost worse than to return to Somerset where I think he was very happy and successful.

So Chris can depend on your support for next season,it NEVER ceases to amaze me how much some of the general public love to slate our people when they do well.So what if he`s "dining out" on his GP win in 2007,I tell you what, were you there ? I was, and that night was possibly one of the best experiences in speedway ,me and the 40 odd thousand Brits went potty when he went pass Hancock on that final bend. One thing you will always get from Harris is guts and determination and a fair amount of courage, there is never a lost cause.I would love to see him do even better next season, which will probibly be no good again for certain people.
-
Well done to Chris,6th in the world and scored over 100 points. In the second half of the series he has come from nowhere to get himself into next years event, and plenty of excitement on the way.He has certainly brightened up my viewing of the GP`s.I didn`t think he had a prayer yesterday, but typical Chris he pulls out the big performance when required, and but for a small error in the final could have won off the least favoured gate.Easily my Elite League rider if the year, seems like a bl**dy nice bloke to boot aswell, rarely complains, and provided one of the moments of the year when he was run over by Bridger, getting up running back to the pits, and then beating Holder round Poole, great stuff.Well done mate.
