Berwick V Newcastle - Live On Sky - May 21st

Thoroughly enjoyed last night`s match, not sure if Newcastle were very good, or Berwick were very bad. The Diamonds were certainly out of the traps very sharp all night, but two of their number failed to beat an oppenant,so they were basically a four man team, extraordinary. Kozza was good entertainment as was young Kerr. Robbo played a captains role and Ritchie is looking a very good prospect. How good can Newcastle be when Lindgren and Tully are riding, happy days for the Geordies at the moment. -

Trying to coax around and protect an inexperienced and slower rider than yourself is much harder I would imagine at an unfamiliar track than it would be on your home track. -

A strange decision to go for Klindt to replace Doyley, a bloke who has never seen our place, I`m guessing he was n`t first choice, hopefully he can get a double figure score. If ever there was an opportunity for our reserves to step up to the plate this is it. On form Josh should go through the card, and should Alex make his starts, he should also be ok. I shall be looking to see how Tom does tomorrow, he needs a decent score I think to kick start what has been a bit of a slow start this term.If all goes to plan, the Rebels by about 10 I would think. -
On form Josh and Jason will possibly be the strongest pair we have had since Zorro and Emil Kramer. It is a Pairs event so Kennett will need a good partner.

Which would mean extra rides for Josh and the reserves, not good, as that combination would not score anything like the return you would get from Alex imo. -

So Nick out for at least four weeks, Alex also hurt last night, the Rebels injury jinx strikes again. It is so much more frustrating when they are riding for other teams. If both riders are unavailable on Friday is it r/r for Nick and a guest for Alex, if so it weakens the Rebels considerably. -

What about Davies concussion, Nielsen not finishing a race, Morris laying the bike down, and unbeaten Doyle (again) ef, thats a fair amount of bad luck in my book, which would affect the score in most matches. But hey ho s**t happens, hopefully we will make a better fist of it next time we play you.I take your point about the 70`s, my team then The Wembley Lions used to get 10.000 plus every week, my dad tells me that in the 50`s you were looking at 80.000 every week at the Empire Stadium, incredible. -

Oh dear, firstly I was not there last night so the following comments are only made from what i get from other people. We do not become an iffy team because of one performance.I agree Tom needs to up his game based on recent displays, give him time, I`m sure that once he gets a few decent scores for IOW and a bit of confidence going he will be ok. As I pointed out in a previous post,we have something to aim for tonight and I believe that all the boys will be on the money tonight especially the skipper, it would not surprise me if we won tonight. We were unfortunate not to get closer in the challenge, and had some pretty crappy luck at Ippo, but that`s speedway I suppose. As for the track, no matter what anyone says,it remains one of the best racing strips in the league, there may be some problems with it at the moment, which I`m thinking is probibly something to do with the up and down weather we are experiencing. Jason Crump no less described it as " a cool track, he enjoyed racing on" Love that post about being closer to the racing gives the perception of great racing, rubbish. -

Switch off the panic button OT, meaningless challenge matches are just that, meaningless,an opportunity to brush off the cobwebs, take no chances. I`m sure the Rebels that turn up on Saturday will be a different proposition to the ones that showed up a couple of weeks back. It will be tough, especially as Proctor is now showing a bit of form, and Cory is flying aswell, but hey we are quite decent ourselves. Three points a must on Friday, then a cup final Saturday, provided we don`t endure the crap luck we had at Ippo, I fancy us, try and enjoy your trip. -

Good result for the Rebels, I was a bit worried when Alex was deemed unfit, but Tom, Kyle and especially Josh stepped up to the plate to see the Rebs home.Nice to see Stefan among the points aswell which will do his confidence a lot of good. Don`t agree with the above about the League Cup being worthless, it involves all the clubs, and because in the early stages it is on a league status you can get away with a bad match and still maybe get through.By running it at the start of the season it allows the teams to bed in.Who is definitely going through from this group at the moment ? exactly , anyone of three.Ask any true sportsman and they will tell you it is all about winning trophies, and I for one hope the Rebels can make it into the next round. -

Just come up on the updates site, no Alex Davies, a massive blow to Somerset, changes the whole dynamic of the match now. I expect the rockets to let Doyle do his thing then attack the other partnerships.Hope Alex is not too bad, apparently it was a big "off" last night.Time for big performances from Josh,Kyle and Tom , if not the Rockets could well nick a point or two. -

Got the same problem Shadders, it really is just a little bit too far , for the round trip. When I go I normally stay over in a b and b,and have a couple of pints, come back next day. -

Rebels need to bounce back from the poor showing last night at Ippo. All three points are a minimum requirement, hopefully the 5-1 Doyle/Davies machine is fully functional. Reserves could do with a good performance especially Tom.
