Somerset V Plymouth Pl 9/8/13 @ 7:30pm
Cliffeboy replied to RebelRebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
How?, The reserves race maybe, and he will nick a few thirds, but can you see him troubling Doyle, Morris , Josh and Alex on current form around our place, not forgetting Kyle is also going well at the moment. He will almost certainly get seven rides one way or another. Heat 8 may be awkward, it depends on what position Cory`s R/R will be covering. I see from the green sheet averages only Lemo can take a ride for R/R ,so Bech will only get five rides. Six starts for Lemo may be too much. -

Bech,Jensen have never seen the OTA, Lemo is going backwards these days, and I don`t rate Sticky. It should be a thumping win for the Rebels tonight, any thing less will be a disaster. We have put on some pretty impressive performances against very good sides this year when we have really been up against it,can`t really see the Devils getting near us. -
Good luck to Somerset tonight, first time in ages we have our proper fully fit septet on show. All the best to Lambo making his debut tonight.

World Cup Final
Cliffeboy replied to mothorsen's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The controversial decision with Bjerre was identical to the one between Josh G and Sneddon in the TV match between the Rebels and the Monarchs, when Deek threw himself down under minimal contact by Josh`s dirt deflector.Josh was thrown out and the Monarchs scored a match winning 5-1, some consistency please or we may find ourselves going down the football path. -
All the very best to Captain Fantastic Jason Doyle in the final, enjoy and stay safe.

Who Should Be In Gb World Cup Team?
Cliffeboy replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Oh dear, what a disappointing reaction from Craig. He must have realized that going from top gun in the Prem to the fiercely competitive World Cup was going to be a hell of a jump. Speedway is all about results mate, and you were poor last night, if you were included again and were poor again, the knives would be out. You are still learning this game and have come a long way in a short time to your credit , however it did seem like a step to far for you last night. If you carry on improving in the way that you have you will definitely be a fixture in this event in the future. Also it`s Team GB not Team Craig Cook, who are you to start running potential team mates down who have been in a similar situation to you i.e. didn`t perform and were dropped. If both these lads score well and they are both young, then surely the manager is vindicated. Keep doing what you are doing Craig cos I think you have the ability to go far in this sport, but keep it zipped, nobody likes a big head. -
Many a rider has been caught out by that over the years.

Is that not where Josh came off the other week against the Rebels.

I realize that DB , the first line of the post was for you, the second is a general response to all the disgruntled Comets who are using one heat as an excuse for not winning. I take your point though, next time I`ll set it out better. Did you have a good night? -

DB there you are ha ha ha, last night would have been perfect if you had been online till the end , gnashing and growling at the "lucky" Rebels. The whole lucky win revolves around ONE HEAT what about the other 29 over the two legs.................. -

Sour grapes mate, ask the riders if they can`t be a bothered with a cup win. Incidentally we dealt with two 5-0 `s last week plus umpteen races with only one rider in it, got beat but still scrambled a point. -

Sorry, don`t agree, Somerset started with three injured riders tonight who registered six last places in nine starts (at home ). Also in the first leg, Kyle locked up in front of Doyle, Doyle off 5-1 to the Comets and heat 15 rebels on 4-2 , Doyle`s chain off 4-2 to the Comets, swings and roundabouts mate, tonight we won, unlike last seasons play off where we lost by one.Sounds like it was a great match though. -

Don`t think Koppe has even seen the OTA, as long as the top 5 are at the races and no more injuries PLEASE, we should be ok. -

Also , the black and white helmet is called a "tactical", so you could argue I suppose that finishing third is a good tactic allowing double points next time, not sure if that is cheating, same for both teams. -

He "laid it down " right in front of me Shadders, I think he had too much speed and looked like he was heading for Doolan, we really didn`t want another crash. It almost happened on the first lap. -

Well what a long night that was. First and foremost , speedy and quick recovery is wished to Tom and Lewis in a horrific crash that happened right in front of me.I have read all the posts on here this morning with great interest and one thing I was not happy about was in the aftermath of the crash was when both boys were being attended to by paramedics. I think Lewis was receiving oxygen and a whole crowd of children and some adults were gawping at the events no more than 10 yards from the incident and were not moved on until the ambulance arrived. At Rye children are often playing around on the ground that used to be the greyhound track, on at least four or five occasions last night Rye supporters shouted at these children to behave and to go back to their parents ( where ever they were ), as they were ruining the enjoyment of the rest of us. I have nothing against children being at a meeting in our family sport, but I think it would be a good move to ban the public from this area. As for the meeting itself, how can ANYBODY not be impressed by the attitude of the Somerset team. In every race they were in they were busting a gut to get first place, I even go further to say that if Josh hadn`t come off in heat 6, it may have been closer, I do not know if he was hurt, but only two points from him after the crash. As usual totally impressed by Jason Doyle again, first one on the scene to see to the two stricken riders, and stayed with them till the ambulance came. Then in heat 13 where we could have done with a heat advantage and didn`t get it, he made a point of going over to the Rebel Army who had stayed till the bitter end, to say something, I don`t know what it was , but applause broke out as he returned to the pits.Todd Kurtz then beat Nelson ( who came past the Rebels supporters on one wheel before the race started ) meaning a 5-1 required in heat 15. Doyle and Morris won by ( as Statto would say "by a country mile"). Despite all the excuses the ambulance thing was an absolute farce and does our sport no favours at all, it was my 83 year old fathers` only meeting this year, but he stayed to the end. I `m not quite sure what will happen now with the Rebels a tough match coming up on Friday against Workington, carry on with the spirit of the last two nights work and we will be ok. PS Dread to think what time the Somerset supporters got home. -

Tough last night, but it will be tougher tonight with three Rebels missing, does Kurtz go well around Rye ?, With a full side the Rebels would probably fancy their chances in this one, I would be happy with a point now. Just hope there is no more injuries.
