  1. thThank you for that Lewy. Just a couple of questions for you. Is the reason the rebels pay more money to the riders is that they can. When the Rebels first started the track was just about all that was there,it is doubtful that they were paying "top money" then.Over the years the club has grown has a healthy fan base,an excellent clubhouse and a track the majority of riders enjoy. If I was a rider and an employer offered me good money and work on a track I liked I think I'd take his hand off.The only clause for me as a rider ( not unreasonable) is that I perform to the required standard or else I maybe replaced.I'm not sure loyalty comes onto it tbh because the rider is quite happy to take the money while it is there surely. At the end of the day this is a sport and you sink or swim by results, start performing badly and you will inevitably lose a bit of your support, most of the clubs that are not performing well at the moment are the ones that are not or haven't got the money. You are right it isn't rocket science after all.
  2. Explain in greater detail please as to how this cheque book speedway works and which riders are we talking about? This is a genuine request as I would like to know, thanks.
  3. Think you made a bit of a rickett there Cliffeboy old chap, Tigers absolutely battered tonight 60 again for the Rebs.
  4. Potential banana skin for the Rebels here I feel, with a half fit Allen and r/r for Aspgren. Mad speedway rules has an Elite league second string Palm Toft at reserve.Massive pressure on Morris and Brady Kurtz. If Allen comes off early the Tigers could be on for their first away points.
  5. Just had a quick look at Nicks stats for this season so far. His Green sheet is up from 8.96 to 9.44. At home currently 10.20 and away 7.64. Not a bad return for the youngest No 1 in the league.
  6. Careful BM I think the panthers thought they could swat the devils.
  7. Well done Ippo, you did a good job on us in the first leg,bit like us against E/Borough last season.good luck in the semi's.
  8. Vissing for Worrell definately improves your team at the Ota. The heart says Somerset but the head says Ippo.
  9. As a Rebels supporter I quite enjoyed myself last night, an excellent performance at a place we do not generally do well at.It was good to speak to Shadders and a few other members of the crowd. I don`t really want to be drawn on which direction Rye should or should not go in, just give my opinion on the match itself. Kennett - He looks to me like a rider bereft of confidence. Only two firsts for him and the heat 15 one Brady was right on his tail pipe until he did a 360. He also grabbed a second from Brady in heat 10 when he lifted slightly coming off the forth bend lap3. In heat 13 he was a distant last. Bowen - Double figures from reserve in the April fixture with three wins, in the main body one point and a fall. Hawkins - Good replacement for Tres, massive jump in heat 9 saw him hit the first bend one bike length in front, but he was always in the mix. Boxall - One point from four starts. If his bike was so poor , does he have a spare, or maybe come out on someone elses bike. Simota - Three points all 1-5`s. Bunyan - Good FTG in heat 7 with a hard charging Brady Kurtz behind then three distant lasts. Morley - Sorry, miles off the pace. Finished in front of Boxall in their private race at the back in heat 14. Robbo - Denied a max by a good effort from kennet in heat 15, very classy in the other four races never troubled.Great replacement for Nick. Wrighty - Continues to impress at number 2,some super fast starts. Brady - A delight everytime I watch this kid, he wants to win every race, really had a go at Kennett in heat 15, Gary`s heart must have been in his mouth....mine was. Aspgren - Said an early hello to the safety fence in heat 3 but stayed on, missed the gate in heat 7,then beat Kennett by a mile in heat 10 and ditto to Ritchie in heat 14. Allen - Wanted to show the Rockets what they were missing I think, great battle with Ritchie in heat 9. Todd - Struggled , not sure if he had bike issues. Starke - MOM for me, paid max and not all points won from the gate.Passed both Rockets in a race twice. Perfect answer by the Rebels after the catastrophe of thursday, can`t wait for next friday`s return against Ippo.
  10. Could really do with some info if this is on or not, should be the rain stopped about 11.30.
  11. Take away the tactical and the Rebels would have won by 42, the perfect answer to last nights critics. next week could be a cracker.
  12. Look on it as a challenge,if we did manage it would it be the greatest come back in a 2 legged speedway fixture ever ? There`s a thing does anyone know what IS the greatest fight back to win in the Prem
  13. Enjoy yourself tonight,I`m going tomorrow ( if it`s on ) and I think I might be by myself ! so if anyone else is making the trip,I`ll be by the gate.
  14. I think that is the first match he has missed for us, it`s the way speedway is run, they have to do it to earn a living. He has been great for us so far this season, ask Shadders and the chaps down at Rye if they would have taken him,bit unfair calling him "Part time". I sure he is gutted at the result.
  15. Totally agree AF, however take the 2 taccys of the OTA result and the score is 67-23. Is that right Worrell is not riding for you at our place, makes you stronger imo.
  16. Don`t agree WM I think we have done ok on the road so far. We have taken P/Boro, Redcar and Scunny to heat 15, beaten Newcastle and Rye and only lost by more than 6 four times, to Ippo twice. Worky and Plymouth. Not bad imo.
  17. I feel a bit sorry for Tom he looked areal good prospect for us two seasons back, but sort of lost his way and this will be a big blow to him.Good luck mate keep plugging away and you will come good.
  18. From most of the posts I`ve read it appears that the Rebels were seriously caught out by track conditions. This will not be the case at our place where the track will suit our guys and we will of course be at full strength. As the old saying goes it is only half time.In the last four matches we have hit 60 four times so that bodes well.I remember a couple of ago Scunny stuck 70 on us at their place, we then we hit them for 65 at ours. This does not take away anything from Ippo who have given us our first drubbing for a very long time,We were as poor as you were at our place , and you had 2 tacticals in your 40 point defeat and a full side, it ain`t over until it`s over, already looking forward to it lol. Gary May not a happy bunny on the Rebels web site. Return leg for superstitious Ippo fans and riders is Friday 13th..........
  19. Olly Allen has been quite outstanding throughout May at the OTA,now is the time to put in a good score away from home by the skipper . Nick will fight for every point and Charlie banged in two heat wins last time.I think Ippo will also be treated to a better than last time show from Brady Kurtz. If these points are seen through I can see the Rebs keeping it to a reachable score for the return leg.
  20. No Nick Morris for this one or the following night at Rye,but an able deputy in the guise of Stuart Robson.Somerset should win this one comfortably as all the guys are going well at the moment with all of them picking up at least one win last week against a useful looking Scunny team. Another crunching win for the Rebels again by at least 15.
  21. Aspgren will be a big miss for the Rebels he scored well in the fixture earlier this year, Morley has scored nothing tonight for the Devils at P/Borough from reserve. Damage limitation exercise for the remaining five Rebels I think and try and do the business big time again at home.
  22. Hope the weather holds for this one tomorrow. Looking for another Rebels win to continue our hot form at the moment. I can`t see the lads hitting 60 again but I think a win by at least 14 is on the cards. Nick Morris will be going for a third successive max, not sure if that is a Rebels record .
  23. Oh dear I am now taking too many breaths and have hiccups, see you at Rye on the 7th?
  24. Nice post Dave , one small criticism, the second paragraph could have done with a few full stops, I nearly passed out through lack of oxygen reading it. lol
  25. Another comfy three points for the Rebels again I think. Steady should get a few, but I thought Lawson would as well last week and look what happened. Ty has nothing to prove his average 9+ says it all , on current form though Gary`s decision to go with Nick looks like a sound one.The man of the moment is Olly Allen who has shown great form recently , he has only not finished 1st twice in his last 16 starts at the OTA. Nick Morris is unbeaten in his last two meetings as well. The all round strength of the Rebels will see them through, last seasons score 68-23.
