  1. Hey Chris did you miss the bit in my post that said " Get a half decent team" which would mean pretty much any of the guys ypu mentioned. Luke said in his bit in the Star roughly that when riders got it wrong coming off the second bend the Rye guys would take advantage as they either over cooked it or slid off,I`d call that home advantage.
  2. Which goes right back to a comment I made yonks ago about pretty much all riders enjoy racing at the OTA ,you cannot say that about most other tracks where riders do not like riding there,so a home advantage is greater. Since the dreaded camber has been sorted at Rye their home form has dipped and teams are having more joy there than in previous visits,Luke Bowen eluded to this in his recent article in the Star and intimated that Len may try and get the track back as it was. Don't do it Len imo the racing has been the best I have seen at Rye , I know a lot of results have gone against you but get a half decent team next year and I for one will be making a few more trips over there. Home die hard supporters may dis agree with me but I would leave it as it is.
  3. Hmmm you thought the OTA was boring, can I suggest a visit to the doctor or try watching another sport lol
  4. Fair comment you see them more than me,I was just responding to how they performed last night.
  5. I wouldn't be too hard on the Ipswich team this 2014 Rebels team are all very very good around the OTA,even without Brady (fastest time this season) and Pontus. Edinburgh next up who were beaten by 22 against a full strength Rebels team, their worst defeat of the season I believe. It will be very hard I think without a full team against the table toppers.
  6. Good meeting last night in front of a good sized crowd. Stand out moments for me were heat 4, Morris getting 2nd on the line from Worrell, ditto Morris getting 2nd on the line from Heeps in similar fashion. Hawkins needing eyes in the back of his head to stop a hard charging Allen from getting past in heat 6. Todd Kurtz coming out in heats 8,10,11 and 12 which resulted in four 5-1's which destroyed any notion the Witches may have had of an upset and finally Morris and Allen slipping through the tiniest of gaps in heat 13 for yet another 5-1. Two nasty looking accidents involving Pontus and Gino early on hope they are both ok soon. As usual always good to meet up with friends down at the OTA .
  7. Looking forward to going to the OTA tonight , weather in Herts at the moment very nice I just hope it`s the same down there. Always enjoy meeting up with old friends whenever I get the opportunity to go down so I`ll be in the bar after (shock) . Safe journey down to any Witches making a similar journey.
  8. Sort of agree and disagree with the gating and first bend thing, how many times do you see FTG at say Owlerton for example and in previous seasons Rye House. Call me biased but if you are at the at the first bend on any track at the back it's hard work to get past. Where the Rebels have it Sussed is if they are out gated and find themselves poorly placed they normally no where to go to gain position exiting the second bend, quite often you hear of Rebels "left for dead at the tapes" but by the second lap were first and second, or my favourite from Statman "Morris was stone last from the tapes" then chased somebody for the rest of the race finally getting past off the final bend ha ha.
  9. I know of only one rider ( James grieves ) who has stated that he does not like the OTA and he won the Pairs with Screen. We have been doing very well at our place this year because we have been better than anyone else. Have a look at Statman's excellent descriptions of races on the updates site to how many times the Rebels win races from behind. It's not over until the fat lady sings, anything can happen on the night as it did to Scunny at our place and us at Ippo. Agree totally, Edinburgh champs for me whoever wins the play offs.
  10. So in your opinion if Joe had been able to finish both legs Edinburgh would have won, doubtful but I respect your point. When the Rebs tanked the Monarchs in the cup semi , Joe got 7,and in the PLPO r/r for him scored 6, he may have also scored less than that we will never know. Wrighty got taken out by Wilko last night, but hopefully he will be back next week, no such luck with Brady though. No Doyley in 2012 almost certainly handed the play offs to Scunny. For what it`s worth IMO Edinburgh are the champs whoever wins the play offs.If we get through and are up against the Monarchs it would be nice to win (of course)but as I said for me Edinburgh have been the best team this year, the table does not lie. Yes
  11. Well done last night by the Rebels, hope Charles isn't too knocked about and also Ash Birks.
  12. We always seem to pick up injuries at play off time, hope Charles can make a speedy recovery, and good luck to Kyle tonight.
  13. Can`t see that myself, comfortable win for the Rebs, Allen,Morris , Wright and Aspgren will be too much for the Scorps.
  14. If we had started against the Cats as we did against the Bandits then maybe that score would have been closer.
  15. And a paid max the week before against the Cats , still I agree with you regarding Brady but I would be a bit cautious about bringing him back too early.
  16. All the home teams prepare the track to the liking of their team, riders constantly refer to it on TV interviews. The almost unique thing with the OTA is most riders enjoy riding there, you will not find many of them slagging it off. Jason Crump no less described it as " a very cool track" and Leigh Adams created a track record there in his only appearance which has stood for some 10 years. It was fairly obvious from Statto`s excellent reports that the Rebels were not getting out of the traps early on which as we all know is extra important at the start of most meetings. As soon as the Rebels became competitive in this area it was " goodnight Vienna". Starting a match without your most potent pairing in Brady and Pontus against the fourth placed team was also a bit worrying but what a great shout by Gary (again) to bring in Rasmus Jensen. It will be a wonderful achievement if the Rebels manage to finish top of the pile again considering we made 5 changes to the all conquering 2013 line up..............one wonders where Somerset would be now if Jason Doyle was still wearing the No 1 race jacket.
  17. Bit strong Shadders old chap would you have him in the Rye team given a chance.
  18. Should be a good match however I'm not sure why the Rebels didn't go for Kyle Newman unless he is riding for someone else that night. Jensen was a bit hit and miss recently at our place but I'm sure Gary knows what he's doing. Ol lie and Nick going very well at the moment at the top of the order and Charlie is pretty much a heat leader at home. Another 3 points for the Rebels.
