Great news well done Doyley. -
Good to see Charles has become an asset, a vital part of the Somerset successes over the last two seasons.

What an interesting three months. It all started with an allegation following the BSPA meeting that Jack Holder was signed on a false average of 5 when he should have been a 7. This heralded scores of posts on here of cheating, win at all costs and various other scurrilous remarks aimed at the Somerset promotion. In early January Somerset accepted from the BPSA that Jack was a 7 and proceeded to sign Leigh Lanham instead. Fast forward a bit and suddenly the BPSA are in serious bother with the Border Agency over irregularities in the signing of non EU riders which affected a great number of clubs in the Prem. Is it not plausible to think( that as has been hinted) that Somerset were given a some sort of ratification that Jack was a 5 and in effect as has been proved with the Border Agency, was duff information.I refuse to accept that after all the dramas over Brady last season the Rebels would fall into that trap again.Do we now point fingers at all the clubs who have signed ineligible non EU riders as trying to pull a fast one ?, shouldnt their promotions made it their business to find out. I would like to think an honest mistake (albeit it a big one) has been made. It is a shame that some people on here are quick to say some crappy things about good people like Gary May , Steve Bishop and all the rest of them down at Somerset when not knowing even some of the whole story. I personally like most people on here think it is barmy excluding the Aussies and the Yanks from coming here, Speedway is in enough trouble without having them missing. This thing all sort of started with Jack Holder and Somerset, but as we stand at the moment Somerset have two Aussies who fulfill all of the criteria required by the Border Agency (i believe, but who knows )...........whose breaking the rules now. Yes, an interesting three months.

Sooooooooo back to the Somerset thread 2015. 1. Josh : Went a bit backwards last season at Worky after a great season with us in 2013, common sense has prevailed and he is back with us hopefully for 2015 with the added bonus of being skipper. I like Josh he has overcome some bad bang ups and was going well last year before his injuries. I can see him sticking half a point on his average this time. 2. Leigh ; I`m guessing this is where the Rebels will use Leigh and he could be an astute signing. His average of 4.9 is a steal, he will definitely improve on this ,and if he can get his nut around the OTA and stay fit I can see him becoming a very important member of the team. Away knowledge will be valuable along with his experience. 3. Brady : Can`t wait to see this young man again, what a talent, struggled a bit on away days last year but mastered the OTA very quickly, can see him challenging for the No 1 jacket. 4. Charles : Very popular Rebel who has come on leaps and bounds for us. A no brainer to quickly get him signed up for 2015. Riding for Swindon will make him better, can see him also sticking half a point on his average. 5. Ritchie : Another rider who went a bit backwards last season, but this lad has talent , good equipment , and will be busting to get his average up in the eights again. 6. Paul : Time for Paul to do a Charles from last season where Charles started at six and moved to number two and finally when Brady got hurt number three. He will be our main strike force at reserve so a lot of pressure on him, but he was outstanding last year recording a paid max at Rye and top scoring in the play off with Edinburgh. 7. Max : The only Rebel I`m not sure of, signed due to Oliver deciding to go with the Panthers. Always a bit awkward signing anyone when someone else is suddenly unavailable for whatever reason. Good luck to him any improvement will be well received by the OTA faithful. Nice to do a post and not mention bl**dy visas.

Odd didnt Somerset race against Newcastle last season after doing the double in 2013, not sure.
-
If Ritchie Worrell does come on as much as some people think, coupled with Josh, Brady and Charlie the Rebels could have a pretty handy top 4.
-
Where did you see that ?
-
Very true BCD however we had to sign somebody and as someone else pointed out Lanham was injured pretty much all of last season but is now fit. I think if he stays fit he will improve his low average once he gets dialled into the OTA.I remember us taking a punt on Charles Wright at a critical stage in 2013 when no one else showed any interest,I`ll settle for a similar outcome.
-
Ah another genius who knows for a fact that Lanham will not perform and Holder will be the Dogs Bo**ocks. The time for this sort of comment is at the end of the season, then we will know for sure. Good luck to both of these lads from me.

How is it arrogance Lewy. the whole post is hypothetical, key words to look for are "extremely unlikely", "lol","off chance". All the very best to Jack if the Plymouth thing goes through, whoever he rides for and on whatever his average, if he is anything like Brady the Prem is in for a treat.
-
If Allen was allowed to come in on a 5, Somerset would probably go back to the original idea of having Jack Holder. It is unlikely that Allen will be 5 IMO , but if on the off chance he was and Jack was included in the Rebels team again , Jenga would be woofing down the old humble pie for ever. However as I said extremely unlikely lol but you never know in speedway .

Well done Doyley new Aussie champ👍
-
Thanks very much for the info SCB much appreciated.
-
Not forgetting the great Jason Crump no less who described it as a very cool track.
-
Ha ha new year same old stuff, most riders all say that the OTA is a great strip for racing, very few riders ever complain about it being a "homer". The majority of riders who have ridden regularly for opposing teams go well, last season was a bit of an exception where the whole Rebels team were on the top of their game from day one. Brady Kurtz recorded one of the fastest times of the season in his first ride ever last March btw. While we are on the subject the Pairs has never been a better and more open event since it has been held at Somerset.
-
Many have done it with confidence knowing the track will not let them down, Simon Walker bless him could mix it with most of them around the boards. If this is what I think it is all the very best to you both, see you when the Rebels are in town Shads. If this is the case Gary might need to give Pontus a phone.

Now the dust has settled on the will he wont he be coming all the very best to Jack Holder this season in whatever he does, sorry mate its the law of the land apparently which I have know doubt will change again and a similar sorry episode will be giving chaps like Jenga something to do in the weeks heading up to Christmas again lol. I see Ollie Greenwood has decided he cannot ride for the Rebels due to work commitments and has signed for the Panthers instead , good luck to him as well , you have to look after the day job mate. Just thought a rider decides to leave a team before a wheel is turned and that is fine ( no problem from me there ) , yet a rider is replaced before a wheel is turned by the management to hopefully improve his team , mass hysteria. From where I'm sitting both options are ok especially going by how Speedway is run, as I said hope he does ok, Big welcome to Leigh and Max, a good point made earlier regarding last seasons team when I too thought Ollie and Pontus would struggle to achieve their starting averages, they both improved and the Rebels picked up two trophies if each of these lads can stick a point on that will do. I have no worries about Charlie,Josh and Brady who imo will all improve their averages, and hopefully Richie can quickly get dialled into the Rebels strip. Got a great Christmas/Birthday present off the wife I`m off to the Prague GP in May, with three mates , get in, a very happy new year to all
-
I think Brady will be at 3 and Charles at 4 next season, a good pairing especially at home.
-
Another tournament win for Brady Kurtz the other night 👍😃
-
So "taps" Somerset are in a no win situation then. If a seven is confirmed we will be charged with cheating by the usual suspects, and if a five is confirmed then we did some sort of dodgy deal with the powers that be. Yet there is a third option which is there was a genuine grey area over this whole sorry episode which to begin with sucked in three teams. The quicker this meeting takes place the quicker we can all move on, I for one am sick to death of this now , so merry Christmas and a happy new year to all who take part on here and follow speedway around the country.......
-
If there is to be a meeting to clarify the situation stupid move to pre suppose the result and change your line up imo. You may indeed end up two points under the limit. The smart move would be to do nothing at the moment but have a back up in place if the 7 is ratified.
-
Still nothing on the speedway gb site about any of this, unbelievable.
-
When do the clubs have to officially register their line ups ?
