  1. Fires lit probably by people who know nothing.
  2. Sounds good "Quadruple Winners" Somerset Rebels. I feel so happy that we finally got over the line last week ,I would have been gutted if we had lost out again. Well done Gary,Deb the team and all the supporters who turn up every week to follow the Rebels. I never thought I would see a more successful Rebels team than Doyleys 2013 chargers, but the 2016 vintage have done it. How good have we been all season ! and amazingly very few Somerset knockers this time ha ha. I never thought that when I was standing with a few Rebels at Rye in April watching the lads losing in a heat15 decider that it would be 22 matches before we would taste defeat again, incredible. The whole season has been fascinating to follow, all the twists and turns. The stand out match for me was the home match against Workington when after five heats we were ten points down, Josh took the b/w and won the race with Brad grabbing third, we went on to win by 20, an amazing 30 point turn around in 10 heats. I felt from that day if we could steer clear of injuries we had a chance. I`d like to thank Statman who always gives up his time to report on the update site so far away people like me get a flavour of what`s going on, and also Willowman, English Roundabout, Brummie Rebel, Womble 53 and of course my old mate Najjer and all the others who join in on the banter on here. Already looking forward to next season to see what Gary has fixed up for us, one thing for sure the racing will always be the best in the League.
  3. All nicely set up for tonight. A continuation of the Rebels home form should seal the deal tonight. COYR.
  4. Ha ha nice one. Bit too old now to be over disappointed about a sports result ( I'm a Spurs fan ! ). Don't think I can lose really, if the Rebels win that will be great cos as most people accept they have by a long way been the top side this year. If we lose it shows what a ridiculous system this is and hopefully the powers that be can make changes that protect the achievements of the top side. Let's not have anymore injuries in both legs, just two hard fought entertaining matches to finish the season.
  5. Well done Glasgow on a comfortable win in the end, must admit I thought it would be closer.
  6. Tigers should take this tonight. Certainly had a fair share of fortune re injuries to other riders during matches. Beating a four man Rebels team at the OTA and then the Diamonds losing Kus first time up. Still that's Speedway, all riders stay safe and a good close match please. If Lambert and S. Worrall are on it could still be close, if not comfortable for the Tigers by at least 10.
  7. What a shame there are not more true supporters like you mate, what a great and humble thing to say. What a shame there are not more true supporters like you mate, what a great and humble thing to say.
  8. Not exactly how it happens though is it HT. The team that finishes top are the Champions. The runners up remain the runners up and are also promoted. Teams 3 to 6 then do the play offs to secure the third promotion position. So the teams that have ground out the most points over the 46 games go up, with a little playoff comp for third to sixth. Where this would be barmy would be if the top 6 had to compete in a play off for promotion and be declared champs as well so the sixth place team could go up and be declared Champions, sound familiar. The three PL teams that are in trouble at the moment ( think it's two now ), I don't know their financial state but I doubt that being in the rip offs would have made much difference. They appear to have an attendance problem on a weekly basis, a couple of good gates ain't gonna make much difference.
  9. Ok and what you and the other "remainers" don't seem to grasp is we do not think that clubs will fold or notice it too much if there were no play offs. What happens to the other clubs not in the play offs.....nothing. Ask the Belle Vue supporters what they would have preferred, being crowned Champions in their first season at their new stadium, or lose an entertaining match against a team that finished half a dozen points behind them, and with it the Championship.
  10. Guests have to be part of Speedway due to the nature of the sport. There will always be injuries unfortunately, but imo guests are the best way round it. No matter what you say about how good a certain person rides a track the rule is open to all and EVERY team at some point has thanked a guest for doing the biz. Whilst the guest had a lower average than the injured rider, no worries. Regarding the Rebels guests against Glasgow in the Cup, Josh Bates did the biz for us, his previous visits were not so encouraging. Also in that match the Prem Leagues most in form rider Tungate had a mare, and Allen, Starke and Grazjonek all out scored their opposite numbers, swings and roundabouts. Even if the Tigers had won the first leg it is doubtful they would have got close at our place. Like Paulcos idea about declaring the champs and then having the rip offs over a weekend. Why not at least give it a go.
  11. I don't know for sure about this thing about the track, this Rebels team have only been beaten a couple of times anywhere this season. Our regular team were only beaten twice before injuries took hold. The Tigers were only 6 down at the start yesterday, but were taken apart by the top side in the division who were on it from the start. Refocus on the next match against the Diamonds cos they will be a tough nut to crack as well.
  12. Nah still dont like them. Would love it if they changed it next season. I have nothing against a six team elite cup comp at the end of the season, but the best team over the season MUST be crowned Champs imo. Ippo were 20 points behind us going into this match, come on, and hit a bit of form recently, how could you call them champs if they had won the whole thing.Anyhoo i hear myself repeating the same old stuff again lol, so time to belt up I think...................did i hear you say hooray.
  13. I'm guessing our people will have had a word, if he plays up again then you could say maybe we should not have used him. If he has any brain at all he knows he must be on good behaviour. Rumours are about he may need to move from the Tigers, if he thinks he may be in with a shout with us, he needs to grow up. In saying that he is young , and I have defended a few young riders on here over the years for hissy fits. Safe meeting please with the Rebs getting over the line.Tigers starting with Lunna weakens them a bit, only scored one in the league defeat, whilst R/r for him in the cup match against the four man Rebs achieved 7 +1.
  14. Did you run the first leg through your "simulater "as well, what was the outcome of that , pray tell😂
  15. Beginning to run out of superlatives for this Rebels team, three away wins on the spin recently against Ipswich, Glasgow and Sheffield. My dislike of the rip offs defining the the title is well documented but I think if we can get over the line in the final, this Rebels team will go down as one of the finest ever. Keep the focus tonight lads and reward those marvellous fans and promotion with the League Cup.
  16. Great stuff from our lads today, totally didn't expect that from Bates , so respect to him. You see Tigers we are the real deal when we have all 7 on show. Identical averages BWD and Josh.
  17. Long trek up t'north again for the Rebs. Hope they can keep it tight for the return, think our weak reserves for this one could be crucial
