  1. If Heeps is fit this is the only match we have a chance in imo. Ellis is a good sub for Jake, no Hougaard is not a loss based on recent form. Hoping Josh's shocker on Wednesday was a blip, Lawson showed a bit of form as well and Wrighty will give💯As usual. Got to get out of the starts.
  2. Updates stated he was "miles" behind. Looked promising at the start of the season but since his injury , poor. One first place in his last four home meetings. In fairness to him all the top four are struggling for points.
  3. Difficult to say what happened here , were Rye very good or were Somerset very poor, probably a bit of both I think. Both teams came up a division for the first time ,but there was a gulf of class between the two. Its all happening at Rye it seems and it was nice to see a good size crowd attending. The Rye team consists of Harris/ Nicholls both multi British champs, former World number 2 KK, American International rider Wells. This backed up by good pro`s Barker and Robbo. That is proper investment in a team to be competitive. The Rebels had nobody to come anywhere near to the top five to be competitive. This result could have been worse, Harris packed up on the line in heat 6, and Wells packed up in heat 5 which gifted the Rebels points.Apart from that KK scored an effortless max, and Nicholls and Harris were only beaten fair and square by Lawson in an entertaining heat13. I am not going to go on and on about this rider was poor and that rider was poor the score says it all, the fact that Josh didnt beat anyone says it all, unbelievable. Personally I am happy with the reasons for going into the top tier i.e. getting more local derbies, not having to travel so far etc etc. , however we must be competitive or you may start losing your support. Gary said early doors he was not going to bankrupt the club to be successful, and I applaud that and i`m on his side with that. The side right from the start was a bit iffy, and with Rohan going backwards even at home the start was a bit hit and miss. Changes were made and initially did ok, but still that bit of class was missing. That really showed last night,we needed a talisman to get us back in it. There was no one. All our guys gave it there all, no more than Wrighty who tries so hard ,but frightens the crap out of me sometimes. Lawson was competitive right through and his heat 13 lowering of Nicholls was a great effort. Missed Jake again, Doolan is a pale shadow of the rider he was. Lewis started brightly but faded away, and was unlucky when Nicholls showed all his experience to stalk him for 3 laps before getting past on the final corner, he was clearly gutted with that. I expected more from Cameron , a second behind Harris heat 1 ,then three distant lasts before beating Robbo in 14. I dont want to comment on Josh , because I have never seen that from him ever, he really was nowhere in any of his races, i`m sure it was just one of those really bad days at the office we all have, I`ve not forgotten how he has pulled us through many matches in the past and am not going to start having a pop over one bad night. For myself always good to see the Somerset people , no Statto and Dave T, but Bernard and Martin ( with his flag and airhorns ) were on duty keeping us entertained. Probably will not even follow the joke match tonight at Swindon with all those guests, hope its not another hammering.
  4. No Hougaard for the Rebs tonight. Doolan for Allen, a difficult match now harder.
  5. Closer than I thought Gresh tbh. We really do need to get Richard and Pat going. Cam and Wrighty competitive again.
  6. Didn't expect a thing out of this one tbh, and wasn't wrong. The Robins are really looking like the real deal and are deservedly in the driving seat at the top. I'm looking at the remaining fixtures and thinking where our next points are coming from and it don't look good. Lawson has really hit a bad spell after an encouraging start and Hougaard for me hasn't reached the level Gary was hoping for I feel. Jake continues to be a big loss, both replacements for him so far have been disappointing. Hope to be at Rye on Wednesday with a couple of Speedway virgins ha, so I'm looking for an improved performance at least. Safe journey up to anyone who is coming, I'll either be at the gate or on the back straight👍
  7. Still haven't forgotten the Play off final when he replaced Ollie Allen at No 1 and didn't beat anyone out of their top five, we lost by a point.
  8. Very entertaining match I thought last night with some good racing. Highlights for me were MOM Charles Wright, that's seven wins out of eight starts against the Lions in the last two home matches. For the Lions , Riss was always in the mix especially when the conditions changed. The rain definitely gave the Lions the edge as the Rebels seem to lose their way at the end. Josh was clearly carrying an injury but he still weighed in with two good wins. Good stuff also from Heeps and Kerr, with Pat slowly getting quicker. I was disappointed he didn't win heat 14, against three reserves but fair play to Newman who stuck it in the dirt and went for it in awful conditions. A 4-2 there would have meant three points. Lawson 's form of late is a bit worrying , he replaced Tungate who was only scoring fours and fives, sound familiar. He did look very slow I thought, hopefully just machinery probs on the night. Starke was always going to be a problem good to see him again , also Josh who was a great guest for us last season. Nicholls and King had their moments but I think aided by the injury to Josh and the indifferent form of Lawson. Wrighty against them two in 15 would have been good. A mention for Bewley, one for the future but big boots to fill for Allen who would have scored more than one.
  9. Good to see Starke riding for the Rebels again, he always gives 100%, not so sure about Doolan and Kennett though.
  10. Hmm crept into a Poole thread again🙄. I'm looking for an improved show from Pat and Richard especially as I think Josh may still be a bit second hand after his off at Sheffield. Good luck to Bewley at reserve, big shoes to fill as Jake has been good at our place.
  11. So it was you and Jake who were the only ones who didn't realise lol.
  12. So Jake's paid a heavy price for his heat 14 miscalculation, broken wrist.Big blow for the Rebels especially at home. Good speedy move by Gary to secure Dan Bewley for Monday.
  13. Unlikely cos every man and his dog who were watching or following the match knew what was required.
  14. A fellow poster implied I put the mockers on him from my statement 😂
  15. I was following the match on the Updates and said "Please stay on the bike Jake" before heat 14 started, couldn't believe he fell off on the fourth lap. Would have been gutted if we had lost. Certainly a backs to the wall performance by the lads, just need to get Richard and Pat up to speed again and we could sneak into the play offs, which would be a massive achievement for the club.
  16. Strong reserves are what everyone wants. I think the Rebs have probably the top two at the moment. Rebels top five are unpredictable though.
  17. Absolutely chucking it down in Herts😔
  18. Not sure what's going on with him at the moment, he's been good for us since he came ,and Josh said so in the after match interview. He has had a few big offs recently, and wrecked his machinery which don't help. 13 points in the win at Poole .
  19. Also not interested in an arguement ( not sure where that came from, I just saw it different to you). Catching someone up and then getting past is a job , especially when it is the in form rider on the night your chasing. It was a good meeting that was nip and tuck right through , we were stronger over the final four heats. When you consider Jake didn't score and Richard got one it was a pretty good show to take three points.
  20. So you reckon Jorgensen would have definitely got past Josh if Lambert hadn't got in the way. Josh who was the top rider on the night and beaten only once, and he "ran out of laps". Not comprende mate more conjecture.
