I was going to say the following 1) Clubs don't own their own tracks 2) Facilities are Poor 3) Too many week-day meetings 4) Too Expensive I think for the "good" of the sport to progress it shouldn't be about the number of GP riders, also If you take into consideration the PL there are not enough riders to go around without doubling up which in an Elite League you don't want to see.... One Solution would be to "Promote" an 3-Tier system with an 8-Club Elite League For example Kings Lynn, Poole, Swindon, Coventry, Lakeside, Woolves, Belle Vue & Eastbourne.... Races Home and Away = 14 meetings, then after 14 meetings places 1-3-5-7 & 2-4-6-8 meeting Home and Away again bringing the total number of meetings to 20 meetings in a regular season. The team finishing Top of the League Advances to the Play-Off Final, 2nd place directly into the Semi Final, 3rd & 4th directly into a 2 legged race off to race against 2nd in the league etc. so minimum number of meetings 22 to the team finishing Top, 26 to a team finishing 3rd/4th but getting into the final. CATCH.... After 14 meetings when the new mini fixtures come out, the results between 1-3-5-7 and 2-4-6-8 also go into a "ghost" table, with the teams finishing Top meeting at a Neutral venue to race for the "Elite League Cup". It gives teams/fans something to race for over those mini fixtures... Premier League North and South Leagues consisting of 8 teams per league Same Format as Above.... Winners of the Play-Offs from North/South to gain promotion to the Elite League with two teams dropping down Premier League Cup - all 16 teams into the same hat, two legged meetings until there is a final bit like FA Cup Football. North/South will hopefully lead to more attendances as its less travel for supporters and less travel costs for riders etc. No more Averages.... Have a "pool" of riders Pool A - B - C - D A - Teams can select one rider from each pool i.e. No.1 Heat Leader B - Teams can select two riders from this category to action as 2nd/3rd Heat Leaders C - Main Body riders non-reserve D - Reserve/Development riders

SCB - I dont know but everyone seems to think that these TV companies pay to provide coverage for sports, in reality its only the mainstream sports that receive any money, Speedway was fortunate enough that Sky Sports wanted to sponsor as well, I know in BSB they do not have prize money as this is put towards TV coverage and riders/teams feel with TV coverage they can gain more income via sponsorship. In BSB teams feel they wont get good sponsors if there is no TV coverage which is spot on - this is why the series is/has been supported by some big companies

If its similar to the BSB deal, then Sky wont pay anything to GO Speed for the deal, however they will cover the production costs of filming so many meetings etc. Its now down to Go Speed to use this deal to attract investment in the form of sponsorship.

British Superbikes do not get paid for their coverage, their coverage is provided LIVE free of charge to enable teams/riders to gain sponsorship, riders/teams forgoe prize money in order to have the TV deal in place, as its more valuable to them.

maybe Poole are on the brink of losing a big new sponsor due to tv coverage delay.... so Matt Ford has.... given someone a rope to run with?

There are a few companies putting money "out there" at the moment... You have either got to look at a company that is cash-rich such as QuickQuid or Wonga or alternatively you would have to look at a more industry-lead back in the shape of maybe a tool company like Milwakee or Teng Tools etc. I am sure there are lots of options if the brand exposure on offer was right to one of these corporates

a promoter can be successful by signing one exciting crowd pleasing rider from ANYWHERE, and then filling the team with local talent within an acceptable radius of the stadium. I promote events, and apart from die-hard fans of my sport, people only flock in numbers if there is a personal touch to the event i.e. their mates are racing.... I#m not saying the team would be successful but its more than likely that the gates will be more successful. have an in-house PR guru who has access to all riders facebook and create events to all meetings and invite, 7 riders 1000 friends each, 7000 notifications about the event, hire a photographer, take photos with club promo babes on arrival, upload to the clubs facebook after each meeting, allowing people to tag each other - they then appear on their facebook accounts and their friends see and say "wheres this, i'll give it a try" and so on.... it works

BT (British Telecom) Sport will be showing LIVE coverage of the BT British League. Two nights per week...heard it here first....

I think there is no argument now at Foxhall, if you want to "SIT" either do so at the front, or go and sit in the granstands, those who turn up early doors with their deck chairs then errect them at the back of the terracing is quite frankly an idiot.

take British Superbikes, Eurosport do all the filming, its well presented good commentators, not great presenter but you cant have everything. How is this possible? British Superbike riders do not get prize money, this is put towards filming to riders/teams can attract sponsors. BSI/BSPA etc. need to PAY Eurosport to cover the Elite League for a season, attract a sponsor for the league and instead of it going to the teams, it offsets the cost of the production.

or on milk cartons... "Missing" nationwide spectators from British Speedway Tracks....

BSPA should stream everything LIVE on Youtube/Facebook from every meeting for a season - for Elite League that is, see what happens...

each way money for top 2 indicates Swindon or Poole.... swindon are questionable at reserve, Poole have more questions than Swindon, Kings Lynn on paper look like the only team that could potentially upset the apple cart but it depends as said above if they all fire, if they do they are dangerous, so i've put tonight £125 each way on Kings Lynn to make the top 2 - I believe the people who have the questions will want to prove a point... lets see

MrCTS - his Leicester days were before I can remember, I only remember the 8 years at Exeter I have seen a couple of leiceter races at Kings Lynn on Youtube and one at home against Hans Nielsen etc. Wish I had all the meetings on DVD really.

READ the f**king original thread mate without the need to start insulting people calling them names, that shows you have the mentality of a 9year old. the original post was - if a company was to pay for the title sponsorship of the Elite & Premier Leagues, how much do you think it is worth, this was an open discussion that allowed fans to pitch how much they believe the sport they follow/love is worth i.e. Teng Tools Elite League / Teng Tools Premier League - It was to open debate, and seek opinion from various people who will have a different view to the value that might well be placed on this level of exposure. If you do not understand that then simply please do not comment, same as 2/3 other posters, if you cannot contribute it doesnt mean you have to post negativity and make personal attacks on someone you clearly do not know - I get slated as being some "marketing" expert - for all you know I could have just been a graphic designer as some businesses refer their design dept as "marketing". With the amount of money in Golf I would say its pretty relevant and will not die a death anytime soon or be in threat of it. Perhaps some people are just a wee bit touchy on here and read things with tinted specs

ch958 - the point is that most corporate deals are clinched at golf - yes you are correct these deals are probably not golf... but for corporate hospitality, golf offers more than speedway. Speedway deals are done outside of speedway of course but not many if any deals are brokered at speedway between two sets of corporate clients.

It is a common known fact that most business deals are actually done on the golf course which is why there is a lot of corporate interest in golf either via sponsorship or hospitality. I agree that it is probably not the best backdrop to do these deals in speedway as there are not a huge amount of clubs that can offer the facilities compared to other sporting arenas for theknow - interesting looking at the cost of your speedway outlay, Tech 3 Yamaha have just signed a title sponsorship deal with a company that is linked to the nursing home sector in the UK... on first glance it is extremely an odd tie-up but the MD went on to state that he loves motogp, has a race foundation set up, and even though he wont get business or an influx of spanish/italian grannies in his homes... he said the exposure is still massive and he believes he is going to be supporting a future motogp champion in Danny Kent.

He is at a Boston reunion later this month, doesnt go to speedway anymore unless I drag him along
