  1. Louis won't agree, time for an impartial co-commentator
  2. Richard Lawson according to the Eastern Daily Press
  3. Brian If you have a UK specific DVD player the chances are it is region 2 and will not play region 1 discs. However some are sold as non-region in the UK and will be ok, if you check your player it will tell you this on the manufacturers label or in the manual. However as it is software (with the odd exception) that determines the region it may be possible to convert your machine to play both region 1 and 2, if you google the make and model of your machine then there are several sites that will tell you how to do it. Hope this helps
  4. Ian, I think you'll find it was Robert Horton who was in Wagon Train, Johnny Horton was the country singer. Apart from many of those listed I always liked Wells Fargo and Have Gun will Travel and for those of us of a certain age the Gerry Anderson effort Four Feather Falls>
  5. I certainly agree a great servant to the sport. Wasn't it Nigel who exposed the "green light gating" so beloved of a certain Kiwi that eventually led to the stationary start we have today?
  6. Graham Miles was indeed the tallest at 6ft 4in
  7. I used to see Geoff on a regular basis at Diss Golf Club where he could still play a mean round of golf. He beat me a few times I don't know how true it is but legend has it at one time he caddied for Tony Jacklin
  8. [so did Maido. Ronnie was more commonly seen with the two yellow/one red stripes on both arms and legs, as shown on pages 18, 36, and 79 in the above book. Briggo also wore them occasionally (p18 and p76), and so did Hasse Holmkvist (p40) and Geoff Maloney (p51). They weren't uncommon at the time, and I thought they looked pretty smart. Steve <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes you are quite correct and I agree Steve, they did look good. I also believe the whole Wimbledon team had the " Stars and Stripes" at one time and coupled with the famous Wimbledon body colour they too looked good. Unfortunatly body colours today with the sponsors logos etc don't have the same effect
  9. You are correct Ivan wore black in 1969 but his first venture into coloured leathers in the Uk was at the Wills Internationale at Wimbledon, a meeting won by Trevor Hedge. I remember comments from the crowd because of the colours in the leathers. Briggo was also wearing coloured leathers at the same meeting. Pictures in the 1970 Speedway Star Parade book show the leathers but unfortunately in B/w. Ronnie Moore wore black leathers with a double red stripe down the leg and yellow stars on the sleeves In the same book there is a picture of Graham Plant in what looks like the Leicester team leathers of Yellow or Gold top and Red bottom half So in one way or another colour was certainly starting to come in in 1969
