Giving this a bump. It actually takes less than a minute to do. -

We would be eternally grateful if you could register your support in the quest to preserve Speedway in the City of Peterborough. It will literally take you two minutes. https://tinyurl.com/bdfjn6hr -
Just back from what was an entertaining meeting. Got to feel for Ipswich who were on the end of some quite baffling refereeing decisions, certainly no allowances were being made for the pretty poor track conditions, especially early on and yet, Ipswich almost nicked it, they’ve had some terrible luck this season. The crowd motivator Leicester brought in was a new one on me, and I actually think it was a pretty good idea and it actually seemed to work and get the crowd up for it. Good luck to Leicester in the final, but I fear they will have to perform a heck of a lot better than they did in the two semifinal meetings.

They still count/include previous objections, this is just a further opportunity to object. -

It’s fortunate I had £10 in my wallet that’s been in it for about three years. -

Cracking meeting this, thoroughly enjoyed it. Decent crowd (I think) with many club’s supporters other than those competing in attendance. Met five Panthers fans! The meat pie was excellent. Only gripe from me, cash only for refreshments. Only gripe from my Grandson, no track souvenir shop. -

Peterborough is way above the national criteria requiring the number of houses to be built per year currently. It’s all very well building affordable houses but affordable houses are no longer affordable for a high percentage of people who are the target buyers, even in Peterborough which is supposedly cheaper than a lot of parts of the country. -

The track could be returned to an ‘as was’ state in five weeks, there are people standing by who would do this. AEPG are not willing to sit round a table with anyone to discuss Peterborough Speedway’s future despite what the Peterborough Local Plan and specifically policies LP30/36 state or the National Planning Policy Framework. I have said all along that this is a watershed moment for Peterborough City Council and its planning department, the outcome of the planning applications will set the direction of travel for the city’s future. -

That is sad news. No one, and I mean no one, got by Anne on the gate if they weren’t supposed to. They don’t make ‘em like her anymore. RIP. -

Would you have expected them to say anything other than that! The main problem with developing the Showground with 1500 houses is that the road infrastructure isn’t there to support it, the Showground has two entry and exit points, one of which I’m pretty certain they don’t own the land and are currently leasing it. The Showground is surrounded by houses, offices, factories and the A1. 3000+ additional cars will cause carnage to the Ortons and Alwalton. That’s before we discuss doctors, dentists and schools who are all currently over subscribed and under pressure. The Showground should have been developed 15/20 years ago when Southgate and Northgate was built, they’ve missed the development boat, they just don’t realise it yet. -

The information we have is that with the ongoing house building in Peterborough and especially Haddon where circa 10k houses are being built puts the city well over the government’s current quota and whatever is likely to be introduced. As for what colour field the Showground is, I don’t know, probably a bit of each. It’s important to note though that it’s absolutely not just the Speedway club objecting to the development, there’s a myriad of other organisations and of course very many local residents, who would be affected for 12 years. -

There is no Greens/AEPG alliance as far as I know. Kirsty Knight (Independent ex Greens) does seem to be in AEPGs pocket though. -

3500+ local residents who don’t want 12 years of upheaval. -

This was never going to be a quick process, see also Coventry and Lakeside. The BSPL and SCB regularly take pelters on this forum, but in our present circumstance’s they have really stepped up to the plate here and our supporters and myself really thank them for that. -
Oxford vs Edinburgh - Wed 29th May

I went to this meeting tonight, have to say I was impressed with the presentation and the running of the meeting, with some decent racing. Good healthy crowd, light years away from the crowds in the early 2000s. I don’t how the Oxford promotion are sustaining running in three leagues, I thought it was madness when announced, but it looks like they are doing just fine, kudos to them! Whatever their secret is, it needs to be bottled and sold on to every U.K. Speedway club. Nice touch with the DJ on the centre green, I left feeling very impressed and just a little bit jealous. I hope they win the Championship. -

There is no doubt he has under estimated the resolve of Speedway supporters locally and indeed nationally. He was warned about this eighteen months or so ago and to not underestimate the strength of support, but scoffed at the mere thought of it. The Speedway club is now his biggest problem and shows no sign of going away. The pressure is obviously building hence his recent rant. In fact we don’t need to make him come across as an idiot, he does it for us. -

The £70k is pure fabrication to suit his agenda. The consortium will hopefully release a statement on Friday, once it has been reviewed by their legal team. -
