  1. Good luck to IOW tonight. Barry has been on Facebook live throughout the day, promoting the meeting, promoting and giving exposure to the sponsors. I really hope they have a successful season
  2. I was sitting in the stand, just below the bar. The PA was absolutely fine there. No problem hearing anything
  3. It would be interesting to know for how many of the clubs the current capacity restriction is lower than the attendance they would normally expect
  4. Thanks City Rebel. Do you know where I can find the individual riders scores please? Thanks again
  5. Sorry if this is the wrong section Does anyone have the result and riders scores from the Crayford v Canterbury match at Lydd today please ? Much appreciated
  6. I hope you are right and that there is a plan to support riders displaced from the NDL next year because their averages are too high with places in the Championship, and that the BSPL work together to achieve that. I suspect there will be others who achieve a higher average this year than they might otherwise have done who will become surplus to requirements as their average doesn't fit next year What I would like to see is for BSPL to publish a 2 - 3 year plan that shows how this will work so that there is a degree of certainty
  7. I have always been a fan of National League racing and we wait to see how the lower points limit has an impact over the year. As a visiting supporter to Belle Vue (and a neutral ) the entertainment was equal to or better than the Premiership racing I saw. However, it is a mathematical certainty that teams and riders averages will rise significantly over the course of the year (or as early as the first set of new averages come out ). What happens next year? Is it 35 points again or will it have to rise (or has that not been thought about yet )?
  8. The problem with being a tenant. Only so much that you can do.
  9. Thanks for the early morning delivery again this morning . Certainly before 6am. I really enjoyed the Wimbledon related articles. Excellent breakfast reading. Thanks to Philip and the team
  10. Impressive work and commitment by Startrax so far. It will be interesting to see if there is anyone interested in promoting speedway at Odsal, and what level of support they would achieve. A couple of questions : Are the straights narrower than they were before ? What impact will the hospitality stand on the 3rd / 4th bend have on a speedway track? How far away is it from the fence and would that require the fence to be brought in a bit for speedway? There are some very big posts that support that stand
  11. All sponsored by the Speedway Star in the east
  12. My Christmas Star arrived this morning. Lots of reading to take me through. Thanks to Philip and to the whole Speedway Star team for delivering such excellent content all year long, in the face of such trying circumstances. I very much look forward to my weekly fix.
  13. Sorry. I don't know. It says construction cost, but that is translated https://pl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrum_Sportów_Motorowych_w_Łodzi Isn't 50M ZLOTY about £10m?
  14. Do you know what the build cost was of Lodz new stadium ? Sorry, being lazy. Just found it. Circa 50milliom zloty
  15. Elite sportsmen and essential support staff https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-on-phased-return-of-sport-and-recreation/elite-sport-return-to-cross-border-competition-guidance#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20international%20elite,days%20before%20they%20can%20participate.
  16. An online quote from 2018 that perhaps sums up the key risk for AFC (Covid apart) This is a fact pointed out to me by club Chief Executive Erik Samuelson who inevitably moves to conversation on to talk of the club’s new 11,000-seater stadium, to be built on the old dog track at Plough Lane. Samuelson says: “I think the biggest challenge and risk we now face is doubling our fan base in the new stadium, who might not know our story or be interested and have the attention span of a Premier League fan who wants the manager changed after three defeats. “And avoiding that culture change, that mindset, is the biggest challenge we face. We can go up, we can go down, that’s manageable, losing our culture you’ll never get it back again.”
  17. From the moment Risk Capital Partners bought the GRA there was only one likely outcome. I don't particularly hold it against AFC for taking advantage of the opportunity (and don't forget that Galliards gave them £17m I think towards the build cost ) but I do have some concern for them that they will end up in a financial crisis. I guess only time will tell if enough people go along on a regular basis to make the finances work. Luke Johnson, director of RCP is also a director of Gallliard Holdings -
  18. A bit harsh, given how long he has been out and that this is his first meeting
  19. Well done to all those involved in the Plymouth stream. The quality exceeded my expectation, and some fantastic racing as well. A model for the future? I'd certainly pay to watch for other meetings if they are streamed
  20. I agree completely. If the changes make the magazine sustainable then I'm all for it. The content remains key and is excellent this week as ever.
  21. I confess I am with Mimmo, Geoff and Iris123 here. I have seen great races and good meetings, but no more than here. The best riders do not necessarily result in the best races. That said, I would like to go to see a match live as the atmosphere must be something to experience Each to their own. I understand and accept that many see it differently.
