  1. Thanks for the info Mick. Is there a best response to these? (ie the proposals do not meet the provisions of the local plan as they propose the demolition of an existing sporting facility, which is fit for purpose and viable, with no provision of a replacement facility either on or off site). I've scanned all the supporting documents but most go over my head.
  2. You clearly haven't taken a close enough look at what the IOW do. Most of the meetings feature traditional speedway with riders at National League / Championships standard. All of the meetings include junior racing, brining through kids who will be the next generation They put so much effort into everything they do. If all other clubs had the same ethos as Martin and Barry instill on the IOW then British Speedway would be in a far better place
  3. Looking at the replay you might well say Jordan turned back into Dan, and Dan was certainly ahead. In the Grand Prix we frequently get told the person ahead can choose his line. Personally I am just glad neither is as badly hurt as they could have been. A racing incident I would say and neither Kelvin nor Scott said they would have done any different
  4. I've signed the petition. I've also messaged the Council's Planning Department to ask them whether AEPGs proposed development meets the requirements of the Local Plan ( specifically LP30 and LP36). The Council say they will notify me when AEPG submits a valid Planning application. Is anyone from Peterborough speedway coordinating resistance to the developer's plans? It would be a great shame if speedway was just allowed to die because the current owner has just accepted it. Edit: just seen info on a different thread from Mick Bratley that things are happening in the background. I wish the best of luck to whoever is leading this.
  5. That's this year. Without knowing how many teams might come to the startline next year that might not be an issue.
  6. That depends on the number of tracks still running next year
  7. Exactly that. Part of Phil Morris' role was to ensure there was transparency. Here is a perfect opportunity for transparency and it's been fudged as usual.
  8. If there is only one league they can still call it the Premiership or whatever they like! If the teams are of equal strength tge racing will be just as good, if not better, even if the perception is that it is made up of lesser riders
  9. About 4 hours each way for us, plus any stops, so hope the weather behaves
  10. Injuries can't be helped, but the quality of replacements can be

  12. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/major-events/bewley-targets-the-double/ I note Sam Hagon is now replacing Craig Cook. I have nothing against Sam Hagon but he will be way out of his depth. Are none of the rising stars available, or the Under 21 Champion? I'm still going and hoping for a fantastic meeting, but it is a far cry from the cut throat Coventry staged British Finals of the past ( and yes, I know that makes me out of date, looking through Rose tinted specs and all the other usual insults which will follow )
  13. I didn't say there was no passing. Even you said the racing wasn't great last night
  14. It wasn't just the number of passes. I think you can have good racing without passes if the racing is close - but mostly it was just strung out with no interest at all. It's the third time I have been to Poole this year and it has been similar each time. Obviously the locals enjoy winning and that's fair enough, but as a neutral I hope for more
  15. I was one of those neutrals and I concur. Racing very poor
  16. No wind up intended. I agree with you, but it needs the rule to be changed
  17. It's a bit more nuanced than that typically. A rider could be enter the track with a second to spare as long as he is proceeding to the starting gate, under power, and without delay - but then he mustn't garden. However, the 2 minutes could have long gone. However, a rider who is at the gate can garden if any time of the 2 minutes is left. Do the refs enforce either? No 011.1.3 2 Minute Allowance The Referee must indicate the start of a 2 minute allowance by means of a warning horn or bell audible in the pit area together with the flashing amber lights if all of the riders are not in the starting area at the same time this warning shall apply to all riders and can be given only once. Except when the Referee considers that there are valid reasons for delaying the start of an ensuing heat, the interval between the finish of one heat and the start of the next shall not exceed 4 minutes including the 2 minute allowance. If a track has a countdown clock, that can be operated solely by the Referee, then it is compulsory for the clock to be used. Riders must, at the expiry of this time allowance, be on track, under power, proceeding without stopping towards the starting gate. If a rider is at the starting gate with sufficient time remaining of the 1 or 2 minute allowance they are permitted to prepare their starting gate area. They must remain in full, personal control of their motorcycle, have the cut out lanyard attached and with their motorcycle facing the direction of racing.
  18. Can you explain how you think that works? The businessman would surely make a net loss on the deal
  19. Don't I know it as a London Irish fan. I was simply making the point that the analogy was wrong. A rugby union Premiership side cannot just go out and sign who ever it likes if it can afford it
  20. Rugby union has a salary cap, so not the right comparison
  21. Obviously. He only has to say he aggravated it. Job done.
  22. It's the SCB rather than Phil Morris who will check. For a guest to be allowed Kings Lynn will have had to produce a doctors certificate and proof that he was due to travel. Whether we believe the doctors certificate is another matter. Probably quite easy to convince the doc that your ankle is sore and that you might not be safe racing a bike
  23. I can't see anything on the Speedway GBsite about the outcome. I can only find that on the riders own pages. An opportunity missed Still, the IOWs established version will be happening soon. You can guarantee that will have publicity and profile
  24. From the regs - see b) the machine examiner should inspect the bikes to ensure they conform with the regs before each heat 02.2.6 Machine Examiner Is to both certify that all rider motorcycles and personal equipment conforms to the Regulations and is in a safe condition both before and during the Meeting. Specifically, the Machine Examiner must: a) be readily available in the pits area during the meeting b) inspect all motorcycles to confirm they comply with the Speedway Regulations: prior to the start of a meeting; immediately before the start of each heat; following an accident; if appropriate at the end of any heat; at other times upon the instruction of the Referee who may also order the Pits Marshal to keep a motorcycle on track by closing the pit gate c) sign the Technical Control Form, noting results of specific checks undertaken d) that tyres have been distributed according to the Regulations and mark the 2nd tyres being used a ‘spare’ confirming their compliance e) take possession of any rider’s motorcycle, equipment or helmet that is deemed unsafe or in violation of these Regulations. The straps on a helmet may be cut only with the permission of the rider, in which case it is returned to the rider, otherwise the helmet is passed to the Referee f) approve temporary repairs to rider clothing if damaged during the meeting g) assist an SCB Technical Steward to carry out such duties as
  25. Thanks Steve. I see that. I'm just surprised that there is no specific regulation that lists it as a disqualification reason or lists as a starting offence - or even a cover all reg such as a non compliant bike is a reason for disqualification. Just me being a pedant!
