Speedway Revival In Eire
MAN ON THE TERRACE replied to Lake Bodom Comet's topic in International World of Speedway
Given the current economic climate in Eire I doubt there is any interest in reviving speedway at present. On the other hand the Irish stadiums that used to run speedway ....Shelbourne Park, Harolds Cross etc have all been refurbished to a high standard for greyhound racing purposes. There are currently 18 greyhound stadiums running in Eire. Unlike our nobhead politicians their sport ministers have supported & indeed provided financial assistance to enable these stadiums to be refurbished & in turn this has led to larger crowds with a lot more youngsters (in respect of Shelbourne Park & Harolds Cross) having a night at the dogs, including a reasonable priced restaurant meal before going on to the nightclubs, bars etc in Dublin. Increased crowds have ensured a healthy betting ring which in turn returns money back to the track. Compare that to the pathetic sight that Wimbledon dogs has unfortunately become...main stand closed, roof leaking, only 3 bookies standing...poor crowds.....zero atmosphere on the terraces even for big meetings. Going back to you original query re Limerick HERE -

Polish Extraleague Play-offs
MAN ON THE TERRACE replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Nikki however is also psychic as he predicted Friday morning he would be racing today......taken fron his website "After a visit to the doctors this morning, Nicki has been diagnosed with laryngitis, and will subsequently miss the meeting tonight at Lakeside. Nicki's next meeting is now on Sunday, for the second leg of the Polish Play offs, when Leszno visit Gorzow." Blatent or what !
