Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?
eric i replied to Paul Johnson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I take your point but last year the promotion were threatening closure due to the crowd levels not being high enough. This year I see the team struggling badly at home and the crowd starting to drop, with the likelihood of further home defeats I would have thought the promotion would be more concerned with surviving the season than investing in future facilities. -

We can afford a club house why not a number one rider. -

I see in speedway star that Godfrey has bought a new club house, while I appreciate his investment in facilities I can't understand why there isn't enough money for a number one rider. Two very tough home matches coming up against a strengthened Ipswich team and then Glasgow, I wouldn't be surprised to see Scunthorpe lose both these matches with the current team. -

Any news on the Russian's getting their visas. -
I agree with a lot of what you say, you might find this thread interesting http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=81137. I think there would be some resistance from those riders who have already invested heavily in machinery and of course the engine tuners but I hope the BSPA do something.

The point I was trying to make was if the track was dry it would ride differently and bike set up would need to change. Danny King was excellent in theses conditions but was only average in the league meeting there.

I think some people are selecting their team based on one meeting on an exceptionally wet track. To suggest the team is nailed on with over a month of racing to get through is ludicrous imo.

Scunthorpe V Berwick (pl) 3/6/2016
eric i replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think Scunny need to step down to the national league next season, I know Rob Godfrey is not keen on that but it might be for the best at least for a season. The premier league gets stronger year on year, look at the riders that have dropped back down to the premier league and look at how few riders have left. I don't think Scunny can afford to sign a Craig cook or a Simon Stead and instead take a gamble on uncovering a foreign gem. -

Scunny were allowed to bring in a reserve.... I despair with the rules of speedway. -

I have seen riders on the centre green this year and not get excluded, the rule needs to be black and white and not down to the referees discretion. -

Beaten by the better team but Scunny were not helped by the slick dusty track. Afternoon meetings normally bring a bigger crowd but usually at the expense of good track prep. I fear the crowd will be down on Friday, maybe the promotion should slash the admission to £10 as reward to the fans for their loyalty during this tough period. -

I think if the straights were a little wider it would produce more lines. -

IMO I don't think most clubs are manipulating the averages i.e telling riders to lower their average. -
Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?
eric i replied to Paul Johnson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think its to do with finances, clubs like Redcar, Scunny and Plymouth don't have the cash to pick and choose any rider they want so they have to take a gamble on riders, often these riders will not live up to their average. If these clubs can't then strengthen their teams they will struggle and that will lead to poor crowds and that could lead to dire consequences. -

That has always been the problem with speedway. In this case though I don't think Scunny are trying to pull a fast one, they are going to sign Lyger which they could do regardless of Holubs average. -

Porsing would be a good rider, he scored paid 14 when Peterborough came to Scunny. -
