Workington v Lakeside Double header 29/10/18 19:00hrs

If any of the two teams get punished due to the second meeting not being completed, then shame on the people who make these decisions. They should be named and shamed. There is no way three major trophies competitions should be run days prior the end of October and this could/would have been avoided, should certain individuals considered what is in the best interests of British speedway.- 186 replies

There is no common sense in British Speedway. So damaging for the sport as a whole. -

All this childish banter regarding track being ploughed or track being slick is irrelevant. At the end of the day Workington won over two legs, irrespective of how many engine failures, falls, injured riders, etc there may have been. So stop the childish twit for tat and suck it up butter cup. Just hope we all are able to continue to support the teams we love. In a sport which appears to be in a continual decline. You never know whats round the corner for ANY club, regardless of who owns it. So continue to support YOUR club as if its your last season. As who knows what tomorrow may bring. -

A bit off topic but.... Comets face Lakeside in a double header on Saturday and it still leaves two other finals they have to ride for. Whats the situation and the potential facility on offer to Workington, should time run out and they are unavailable, due to having to go home and try to qualify for another season back in British Speedway 2019. (Please don't say NL guest, as that will make an absolute mockery to British Speedway)... -

Wow what a day for the Workington Comets. Which I am sure will be the most successful season in the Comets history. Congratulations to Laura and Co for what has been a fantastic season of speedway. Looking back to early season fixture issues etc you have persevered and battled on against all odds and gained the success you deserve, at the same time as proving to the powers of speedway, that with the team you guys have put together Workington are 'The team' of 2018. Lets hope there will be a 2019 season for the Comets. Even if the dizzy heights of this season be difficult to match.... Congratulations to the best team of 2018..... -
1. I would say one league, but unfortunately there don't appear to be enough riders. Unless we have six man teams (All premiership teams mainly consist of championship riders). 2. North-south divide to reduce early season travel cost, but at the same time create a two league system. Where the top four in each group could meet in a play off for the league title. 3. When the split happens for the play off, the lower teams go in to a competition for a shield trophy. 4. The split mid season for the playoffs would rejuvenate all team supporters, as an influx of new riders/teams would be like starting the season again and give teams something to play for. 5. Start the league at the beginning of the season and keep cup matches etc for the later part of the season, where if the weather intervenes the matches are less important. Just my thoughts......

Glasgow v Workington 13th May 4pm
magnus replied to Gazc's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Another fantastic performance from the Comets on another away track. Well done guys. Is this the year of the Comets?????? There is no doubt the promotion have a big decision to make when Mason is fit to resume racing and if BWD is available to the Comets for the rest of the season. The lad has certainly captured the attention of the supporters with his attacking style of riding and points to prove. -
Just read on updates Kyle as come off at the IOW? Hope all ok....

Please spread the word about this superb offer, to all season ticket holders across the country for what should be a great meeting. Also a great gesture from the club for a great cause. Roll on 7pm Saturday. http://www.workingtoncomets.co/news/article.asp?id=100909

Never thought of Rasmus. Whats his average?
-
Well not long until all the 2018 Comets are named. Who do we all think the remaining two team members are??????? With 14.31 to play with I will go with Rene Bach (7.53) and Kenneth Hansen (6.74) which adds up to 14.27. This will enable us to start the season with Mason at reserve and ensures we will have a strong reserve for the full season, providing we stay injury free.
-
Workington 1. Nicolai Klindt (7.51) 2. Ty Proctor (7.15) 3. T. Jorgensen (7.10) 4. Dan Bewley (5.80) 5. L. Lindgren (7.21) 6. Mason Campton (5.73) 7. Kyle Bickley (2.00) Total: 26.19 Remaining: 16.31 = TOTAL 42.50 This i believe would be a hell of a side both home and away, once all the guys get dialed in. Nicolai may not be a number one, but i wouldn't expect him to be once Ty and Thomas return for their second season at Derwent Park. The potential of keeping either Mason, Dan or Nicolia at reserve all season will bring home points both home and away. *Please lets all be positive and look at the potential team and more importantly at least another season of speedway at Workington, instead of speculating what may have been said to who and what they may be thinking.
-
That team with a good number one will give us a strong team home and away (I believe) .
-
Wonder if its Ashley Morris???
-
Maybe been to see one of his sponsors KC Carpets and Beds????
-
Rene Bach's average anyone?????????

*Comets post about Dan's reduction. http://www.workingtoncomets.co/news/article.asp?id=100886
-
Now with Dan's reduction, this gives us another 0.15 on top of the 7.97 = 8.12. We have another option to fill the remaining berth with E. Riss on 8.05. (If we decide to recruit from one of last years Championship teams).
