Swedish Elitserien 2014 Round 3
manchesterpaul replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Standard of racing is down to using the race format to match up riders of equal ability in a race, something that the Elite League may have done this year in the UK? In recent years we've had two races in one with two top-ish riders and two stragglers in a large percentage of races. In Poland and Sweden you get to see more competitive races with a top rider in as there are more top riders to go round and you don't get one sole rider above three lesser ones as often. Also can't disagree with Alan's point that they can and do attract extra fans - of course enough to pay the increased wage bill is in the UK doubtful. Mind you going to a meeting to see a top rider was considerably more of a factor when i was a little kid and you you'd only get to see Riders like Ivan Mauger and Peter Collins once a year (unless you drew them in the cup competition). -

We need to get him a mini Abacus with only four beads on it so he can check each lap off. Uh Oh be careful what you wish for....cue Pearson and Tatum muscling in to commentary box thinking they been called up by Screamer lol. -

Maybe it because he started out calling the first race heat 2! Gee blonde with the baby gave a right slightly prolonged Linda Blair glare when she spotted the TV camera focusing on her - Regan reincarnated or what! lol. Jack seems to have done or been given research on riders which is great. Although he needs to be genned up a little more on Godlund as it's no surprise if he's slightly out of his depth, he hasn't really scored heavy in the Allsvenskan league as far as i can remember? Is Jack psychic when he called the winner after 3 laps and did he try and do a good save after that lol. -

I bet a miffed SVEMO employee snuck in and sabotaged the starting gate lol. -

Got to admit Vetlanda line-up looking like a speedway version of the all-star Harlem Globetrotters lol. Just wish the UK could get their speedway house in order, both Denmark and Sweden seem to have rejuvenated the sport in their countries and we all know abut the phenomenon which is Polish speedway. Afternoon, to be honest he gets such a beat down on these forums but he does have some good technical and riding insights but he simply is not cut out to be speak on tv (or radio one presumes), anyways the speedway is the most important thing. Even if it should turn out to be an easy win i'll be enjoying every moment of seeing most of these riders. -

Great news that the TV argument has been put to bed and we can enjoy not only tonight's Indianerna-Vetlanda match but the whole Swedish season They certainly have the possibility of an easy win on paper and one would expect them to win tonight but they haven't impressed in their two matches so far. Particularly surprising was their opening day loss to league new boys Rospiggarna. Jaroslaw Hampel had a super unbeaten evening in their win last time out at home against Smederna but perhaps the key to an easy win tonight will be if Emil Sayfutdinov races up to par after two pretty poor showings this season scoring 4 and 5 with only one race win out of eight rides! Come on Emil treat us, gate last and come from behind to win like so many times before -
I'm so bored with this......where do we go from here? Well let's be clear, i'm staying not going anywhere and i'll be posting my minimal 5 to 6 lines of text including shock horror the two red lines! If people can't handle that maybe they should consider seeking some form counselling lol lol. JOKE! lol.

Ouch Woffinden losing it there when he had it in the bag but still good to see a big improvement in his performance. Congrats to Zagar he was in position to take advantage. As feared out of the three major events i was watching at the same time the SGP proved to be the runt of the litter as both the FA Cup Final and the Spanish title decider were very entertaining. Sadly for any newcomers prepared to give the SGP a second chance next up is Prague!
-
A win from Tai lifts the gloom surrounding the meeting a little.
-
Anyone wanting to complain about the pre-meeting misinformation regarding the 'sell-out crowd' should contact the spokesperson Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf!
-
Looks like a Woffinden win is the only way we'll be able to get any feel good out of this meeting. We are seeing little snippets of possible good racing to come but i wouldn't bet on it. I checked in that race and didn't see any, depends if they used the angle you are talking about. Don't worry your tv may likely be fine and it's just a poltergeist thing going on...she's baaaaack!
-
This is shocking for Woffinden let's hope he doesn't do a Smolinski now. Gee and there me thinking of the start marshall she not a natural blonde! Mind you they are saying she was handed the wrong flag. But she still a stereotypical blonde as she didn't spot the mistake lol.
-
Come on Woffinden (yeah forget that woofy woofy woofy lark lol).
-
That did look a good gate by Smoli which he needed being in gate 2. On results this meeting Smoli should be targeting three points here. Ouch and as you'd expect in the re-run Smolinski gates last and finishes last. I was holding out hope we would get some 'racing' as the meeting progressed but this is all looking rather poor now.
-
Excellent re sound. Lol re pre-meeting and to think everyone accuses One Sport of propaganda lol. Maybe telling everyone it was going to be/WAS a sell out stopped people from going to purchase tickets!
-
It's clearly a great crowd but where did these reports come from about being totally sold out and squeezing extra fans in? I had thought it was a case of latecomers still to sit down but apparently not.
-
Three race winners to come in heat 5 Woffinden, Holder, Zagar and also the pointless! Hancock.
-
Wow Tai is ok! Do you have some sound Alan? or are you sat there making motorcycle noises lol?
-
Good job you mentioned that lol.
-
Evening/afternoon. Do hope the SGP isn't the weak link of the three great sporting events i'm watching right now, the other two being the FA Cup Final and Spanish title decider. Worried at all the recent talk on here and on tv about the track being too narrow to allow for good racing
-
OK enough, we're here to talk about the racing, but one question where was your censuring of the post that i responded to??? Tell you what don't bother answering, the speedway is about to start. I was thinking this was one of the best posts to read for a long time and i was going to add let's hope we get one very important thing....speedway RACING. What a monumental downer and waste if this does transpire. Everything was pointing to a fantastic opportunity to not only give the sport a boost in Finland but i would imagine also Scandinavia. I agree totally with what Peter Collins said in a Speedway Star article a couple or so years ago when he stated that in order to get good racing with riders being prepared and able to overtake it's the width of the track that is the key factor. I've even seen in video clips from America where despite being tiny tracks and you'd think you couldn't help have all four riders together you can get a rider(s) pulling out a big lead, or positions not changing at all. However on some of those small circuits you get lots of passing and it's on the wider small circuits where that happens.

'Sigh' and still we can't get to just post a link as there is always something more to respond to. 'SCB' i always come on to simply give the few lines of notification absolutely nothing more. However, if as anywhere else in the forum i see something that needs correcting or a right of reply i will respond. I also don't write 6 paragraphs justifying it, but i will write 6 paragraphs or more if i have something to respond to. Not all Elite League meetings are covered, fans are not psychic so i notify when a racecard is available. I could address your other superfluous comments but nah! can't be bothered.
