  1. Thanks and it's good that you do pass them on as it's in the interests of the magazine to give fans/purchasers what they want (oooh i so on the edge of asking for a page 3 with so many promotional girls and start ladies around these days lol). Don't see how lack of the draw has any effect whatsoever on a preview covering the upcoming clashes, residue from the previous GP and talking points of the meeting ahead. I don't recall any regular mention of what gate a rider will be starting from in each race in other meeting previews over the years.
  2. Asked before many times and nobody has come up with an answer.....does the money Sky give for a televised meeting cover the income from the usual attendance receipts for the match? If so for many reasons i've mentioned before including the above they should give free entry or a maximum cost of £5 (other sports have done that and been rewarded well). Sadly, i'm fearing that the Sky money is entirely needed to keep clubs afloat and they can't afford to have a drop in gate income, albeit most televised matches seem to have lowest crowds of the season.
  3. Very strongly agree and second both of the above. A good thread/topic and timing of it by the way. Also very strongly agree with this, makes it a bind when trying to look back for recent match reports or how individual riders have performed ahead of a meeting. Sometimes there seem to be changes made for changes sake. Have they got a new staff member who's trying to fix something that isn't broke grrrRRRRR lol. I really must express my displeasure at the new 'all over the place' layout. On occasions the paragraphs of an article are wrapped around one in the next column and one ends up reading both as one. Bits are slotted in everywhere very poorly laid out. Agree with lots on here that the actual GP previews really need some discussion and insight into the actual races and meeting ahead, and not just bare stats pointed out either, that seems a very lazy way to fill space. I do like that they are including a full page rider interview that is done recent to the GP. Same as with the BSF i rarely take in who has written a piece but i am gradually aware that Paul Burbage has some excellent contributions and also Philip Rising.....ooops that should animate a few on here lol. I definitely think the 'Bonus Points' section is excellent. Yep agree with that and as with Chris Louis who this week proves he's getting better and better with the analysis and great information (i forgot what they call the tv screen section now) it's good to see the speedway media finally responding to fans demand for limited technical insight. Couldn't ever imagine watching a Nascar race without a constant mention of the handling of the cars and the effect the track and weather conditions along with so many other variables all described in layman's terms. Lol lol. They wouldn't get any submissions as the women can't cope with the Monster girls. ? One of the utmost reasons for purchasing and praising the Star is the, with only the odd exception, weekly displaying of every club in the three leagues rider averages using the current season's matches. Or do you mean a larger version of the Top 20 or whatever it is they have now? Aside from my strong agreement with the criticisms of the revamp expressed by many above on the same few changes, i will not hesitate to praise the Speedway Star to the hilt. It's a truly superb magazine. Regarding the price you get a very generous discount if you subscribe. You also save on travel costs and the annoyance and time involved in having to hunt a down a copy in the shops. Also not everyone goes to their track every week, clubs don't always race every week, plus there is the whole off season to consider.
  4. It's society on the whole i think lol. Just to balance up all the negativity, bear in mind we were fearing no GP at all on the Friday or a 'farce'. This was NOT a farce, granted it broke up towards the end, but an entertaining GP for many reasons, i loved it and it left me in a bouyant mood. OK i'll join the crowd and add one negative.....didn't approve of the dracula/monster cloaks that the riders unveiled themselves from, i think even most little kiddies will find that a bit naff to say the least . What's for next year Nicki dressed up as a pantomime villain and the crowd exhorted to boo and hiss?......(ok granted they do that to him anyway upon his introduction lol)....or Nicki and any one of his many rivals dressed up in oversized Punch and Judy outfits hitting each other over the head with plastic truncheons?
  5. Apparently Trojanowski is under pressure from the management (i so envision a couple of guys suited up like the Kray twins) to perform well today or he'll not be getting any more opportunities to race.
  6. The official website has an even more improbable line-up listed as of today 5th June 10:30am BST. AUSTRALIA 1. Chris Holder 2. Darcy Ward!!! (he's injured isn't he?) 3. ??? CZECH REPUBLIC 1. Ales Dryml 2. Lukas Dryml!!! (forgot that mdmc82 mentioned Eastbourne said he's riding for them on Saturday) 3. ??? DENMARK 1. Nicki Pedersen!!!(he's injured isn't he? also declared he might be taking a month of and having treatment all week) 2. ??? 3. ??? POLAND 1. Tomasz Golllob 2. Jaroslaw Hampel 3. ??? RUSSIA 1. Emil Sayfutdinov 2. Grigory Laguta 3. Artem Laguta SWEDEN 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Antonio Lindback 3. ??? USA 1. Greg Hancock 2. ??? 3. ???
  7. I guess Swedish fans are getting more value for money with their product. Ok let's all hitch up the wagons and roll off and in to Denmark tomorrow.
  8. It's all been very enjoyable. Hopefully not tempting fate but despite the close racing we haven't had any falls either have we?
  9. Good racing by Oldie Greg......that must inspire you to take up the arm wrestling now Alan? Gee Sayfutdinov and Iversen continue their winless streak. Nice end to the meeting too.
  10. If it's online i'll try and catch the Polish match. Not sure what i'm doing yet. Surely Iversen will get a race win tonight???
  11. Just remembering Premier Sports first season and their commentator being bombarded every meeting with the same question...."are you going to be covering Polish speedway". We'll give Dave a few more weeks before we start asking will Premier Sports be covering Swedish speedway next season? I think this is the second of a two-year contract. I could be wrong and maybe this is the start of the two-year deal, my memory is shocking. I could be getting mixed up with the Nascar coverage.
  12. He can't answer that, you know he sneaks in under the turnstile or climbs over the fence lol
  13. I keep hearing recently Sayfutdinov only got a couple of points well into meetings, is he not doing too well in Sweden this year? Just had a glance, he's only averaging 7.00 a match! Albeit that was over just three meetings. Sportowefakty and Svemo have him at slightly different averages.
  14. It ok i was using a little artistic licence regards my age lol.
  15. Yeah in week 2, was just idly wondering when they due up next. I've only got the TV matches listed up until next week.
  16. Tell you what the Danes could do with picking up a few tips about the speed of running a meeting, it's moving along at a fair rate of knots. Awww don't want it to end too soon, it's good.
  17. I'll arm wrestle you to balance the scales lol. Nobody predicting the result of heat 7!
  18. I keep forgetting your team is in the Elite, are they due to be in a televised match soon? Rain coming down and a part of the track with a dazzling sun in the riders eyes as it sets for the day, but no waiting around they getting on with some good racing indeed.
  19. Just glanced at the radar and the area isn't blanketed by rainclouds. It did look showery although there are a few clouds hovering near. NIce to see Lindback doing well. I always fear he'll revert to his road to ruin in his private life of a few years ago when he loses form.
  20. Just read apparently Pawlicki has been taken to hospital after falling ill. Published 5:55pm in Metro.se "The pirates forced to cope without Przemyslaw Pawlicki both in Tuesday night's game against the Indians and Wednesday's game against Västervik. The Pole started feeling ill on Monday and was rushed to the hospital. Pirates coach Stefan Andersson says Motala & Vadstena newspaper that Pawlicki must remain in the hospital throughout Tuesday. - He does not know himself nor really what it is and how bad it is. It can only slap so he's back on the bike, Andersson says the newspaper. The pirates do not have access to any replacement and since Pawlicki is one of the team's top two drivers, one can exploit the rule "riders replacement", which means that the other drivers in the team run was his of his heats."
  21. Great looking crowd and a nice start to the meeting, then again a line-up of Sayfutdinov, Hancock and Lindback wasn't too slack. GrrrRRRRR those Swedish commentators drowning you out again Dave. Nooo it raining hope it's just passing lightly through.
  22. Wow Dave has learnt to speak Swedish! or he's sharing a Mic with the Swedes.
  23. Who did the first GP before Pearson and Tatum came back? Was he any good?
  24. Lol i thought instantly of the Pittsburgh Steelers and then Pittsburgh Penguins but a quick glance at Wiki sees that Wolverhampton might have come up against a rather talented bunch....... Varsity men's sports sponsored by the university are baseball, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, swimming and diving, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, and wrestling; while sponsored women's varsity sports include basketball, cross country, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, and volleyball. CORRRRRR! you can guarantee their cheerleaders would outclass our 'birds'.
  25. There's not really any panic yet that we won't get the details in advance. I'm pretty sure they really haven't confirmed the riders participating yet, yeah i know that is bad. At the end of the day if we get the team line-ups and riding order about half an hour before the meeting begins then anyone doing racecards can quickly put them on the servers, although there's going to be a bit of a load as everyone downloads them at once. Someone pointed out the other year when we were all complaining because we were unsure of a World Cup line-up on the day of the meeting that football doesn't issue their team line-ups until an hour before kick-off. Hope the record floods that are hitting parts of Europe including Poland - some of them the highest since the 16th century! - aren't near the speedway track. I haven't a clue what part of Poland the track is in, i'll have a quick look later. The Czech GP in Prague was fortunately timed well this year. Travel in Prague and other areas is heavily affected from what i've been told. UPDATE A quick check out of curiosity reveals today's weather in Torun...Thunderstorms locally with hail can occur accompanied by intense precipitation and wind gusts to 90 km/h...eeeeek!
