Pie shops in the vicinity of speedway tracks across the country about to face hard times. Joking aside a rider who has given excitement to many and hope he prospers with whatever he does next.

Sky. A Wasted Opportunity
manchesterpaul replied to rob tatum's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It's not just speedway where TV broadcasters are keen to create an impression of LOTS of people being in attendance inferring something exciting or worth viewing is going on. NASCAR in the USA is concerned that despite attendances over 100,000 people will be put off watching or going to the sport because of the sight of empty seats in a 150,000 capacity stadium! I remember pointing out years ago when challenged as to why i was so concerned with attendance figures - it tends to be one of the first things i look for a mention of in Speedway Star or any match reports - and my point was that if on one side of a street you see a handful of people in a circle and on the other side a very large gathering it's human nature to go over to see what is creating all the interest/excitement/fun/entertainment etc on the busy side. "With billions of dollars guaranteed for NASCAR TV rights til 2020 and 2024, discussions have now surfaced of removing those empty grandstands at many Sprint Cup venues. On television, those empty seats look Bad - Bad with a capital B. We’ve seen those empty spaces disguised with sponsors banners, and broadcast networks have been very careful about not panning the spaces with their coverage. Don’t you think that those hollow canyons must have a psychological effect on fans in attendance. They must think, “Why did I come to this race?” But, getting back to the dismantling of those empty grandstands, most of the 1-1/2 mile tracks with about 150,000 seats will more than likely be the first to do it. In the event that ticket sales eventually do pick up, they can always be reassembled." -
It's good to use GT as each heat will likely have a commentary on the race and other notes concerning the meeting. Why do say if no British sites are covering the meeting is Speedway Updates not doing so? Having said that i usually use Sportowefakte as you get 'proper' comments aa opposed to a sometimes biased fans view of a race. One can always use both of course

Yeah xcweather can be good indeed. Wunderground isn't always that up-to-date if you hit it at the wrong time and isn't as accurate down to small areas. I do like Wunderground though it's got sentimental value as i used it for years lol. I find the premium service of 'Rain Today', particularly the radar and it's path, can be very accurate indeed right down to small areas. Not sure how often the free version updates or how pin point it may be for that same reason with it's forecasts. But you can always check it out as there will likely be a link to the free version here http://premium.raintoday.co.uk/ The site also points out "Polish rider Maciej Janowski is an injury doubt for the event as he sits out Poole’s trip to Lakeside tonight with a knee injury. Meanwhile, Danish star Peter Kildemand must overcome a heavy fall at Swindon on Thursday to make the meeting." So if those two fail to make it we'll have two more Brits in the meeting! namely Barker and Bridger SGP's website latest line-up GP CHALLENGE LINE-UP: 1 Vaclav Milik 2 Maciej Janowski 3 Krzysztof Kasprzak 4 Peter Kildemand 5 Timo Lahti 6 Hans Andersen 7 Kenneth Bjerre 8 Troy Batchelor 9 Danny King 10 Niels-Kristian Iversen 11 Tomas H Jonasson, 12 Michael Jepsen Jensen 13 Piotr Pawlicki 14 Martin Smolinski 15 Chris Harris 16 Daniel Nermark. RESERVES: 17 Ben Barker 18 Lewis Bridger

According to the opinions of some on here you seem to have left a classification off the list... F Speedway fans.

Hopefully there isn't already a thread for this but the forum is running painfully slow and i can't search. Certainly there is none in sight. Poland - World Champions, will be held October 12th at the track in Lublin. Announced rider line-ups Poland Tomasz Gollob Jaroslaw Hampel Maciej Janowski Krzysztof Kasprzak Patryk Dudek Bartosz Zmarzlik Daniel Jeleniewski World Champions Greg Hancock Nicki Pedersen Darcy Ward Tai Woffinden Emil Sajfutdinow Michael Jepsen Jensen Robert Miśkowiak All indications are that these compositions do not change - Most players are confirmed, and the two still being discussed. I reckon the World Champions should win this?

When i was looking for a streaming link in the Russian forum earlier i caught site of a post mentioning someone being stuck in Denmark. I thought it was referring to a fan and didn't actually read it, maybe it was regarding Artem. Hmmm trying to think back as to whether the Danish start girls were fit or not lol.

Just got home so not had time to look to see if it's streamed but that link gives the odd comment on the racing too. Photographs being posted during the meeting http://instagram.com/older1974

Lol. Believe me you're one of or THE sanest on these forums. My livestream just went blurry for under 30 seconds but carried on without a glitch right to the very end. Good quality to match a good meeting. -

Incidentally, listening closely to them going through the scorers just now myself and Last Word's scorers list before would appear to be correct. And that's despite not knowing a word of Danish lol. Ok that was a good meeting overall and a close win for the Esbjerg 43-41. -
Is tomorrow's final of the Russian Championship (Individual) not being broadcast online? Live updates http://nicesport.pl/...82013-godz-1600

Another good race and all square now. Is tomorrow's final of the Russian Championship (Individual) not being broadcast online? Live updates http://nicesport.pl/live/154605/final-im-rosji-balakowo-22082013-godz-1600 Just realised with no graphics we going to have to keep our ears pinned for who is in the last two heats lol. Might try going to small screen to see if riders jacket numbers are clearer. -

Got exactly the same. But you still love the sport? Surely you not getting too much (speedway or the other)? Great race and don't think Nicki had anything to do with Toft's fall. Very pleased we got to see this meeting after all. -
Nice to see Vastervik are secure for 2014. Västervik Speedway has recovered from the economic problems that led the club had to start a reconstruction in 2010. Since then, costs have been reduced and the club have still clung to the car in the top division and were in the playoffs two years in a row. The reconstruction is now complete and elite license is ready for 2014.

Egads! man you just trying to confuse things lol. Got to admit i wasn't paying full attention pre-race or during the race to see if any tac sub was made with Nicki. Just glanced up as they went over the line Y B R W. And just seen the track's electronic scoreboard matches the score i and others got down. Cheers for that so you at least tri-lingual, impressive. -

Steen Jensen battling for every point there nice overtake. Ouch my screen went blurry but i thought Steen overtook him and held it to the line? Anyone else know which way it went? I had red beating yellow? *Hold on i've misread you i thought you meant the finish line lol*. We should ask Eagle-Eyed Alan. Racing seems to be hotting up a little last couple of heats or so. -

Ouch was it? i looked away from the screen as they were on the back straight and looked up too late. UPDATE.....Yeah, i've actually written the race placings correctly as a 4-2 but in the midst of doing several things at once scribble in 3-3 in the race result section. -

Heat 6 Laguta would have overhauled him with another lap for sure.
