  1. Each to their own opinion and i disagree strongly with you and personally i think the thread is perfectly warranted and certainly not ridiculous. One of the reasons i was asking why is to see if there is one reason more than another. TV commentators and the sport's own journalists have also rightly been contemplating what has led to an apparent increase in riders falling in recent years. For example, as i asked, is it that some riders can't control their bikes or react fast enough to something happening. I couldn't help but note that Thomas H Jonasson be it by sheer chance or an actual specific reason does seem to fall a lot, so i was wondering which other riders suffer the same. As for terrible scenarios that happen when riders fall off, well all the more reason for discussing the matter. If there was a rider who was a danger to others as well as himself it should be discussed. I don't particularly have anyone in mind regards that aspect, Mind you i do remember when i was little in the 70's and the Russian riders seemed to come out of the Kamikaze speedway training school. Agree strongly it's a perfectly valid topic.
  2. Don't think it's been mentioned yet and i can't believe i'd forgotten about it, a song that received a fair bit of radio air play was 'Speedway' by the Kursaal Flyers' Some of the lyrics.. .. My bike is getting rusty now the one my fans admire The track is getting dusty and my agent just got fired And i don't think i can make it cos i'm feeling kind of tired I'm feeling pretty shaky and my hands are getting sore And i feel like i'm nearly eighty though i'm only twenty-four And i don't want to ride the speedway any more Where's my little siren now she ain't coming back We was going to marry but one of us just had to crack That's another reason i'm not out there on that track Last night i dreamed i was riding for the Aces I hit the bend i looked up i saw their faces Then i saw my siren's face through the dusty screen I hit the fence a wheel came loose...(???)...off my machine Riders were all flashing past i couldn't hear a sound I was lying on the dusty track a crowd had gathered round The doctors said there ain't no hope the agony just grew Then i saw my little siren's face i knew that i'd pull through
  3. Watching the play-offs on Sky right now - 1am in the morning (maybe if we can't have live speedway on Sky we can have an 'as live' EVERY race programme as it's great to see the meeting zoom through). I've just seen Thomas H Jonasson have a right pearler of a crash. Am i right in thinking that this rider has way more than his fair share of crashes and often quite spectacular ones? I've seen him crash in the same manner more than once in the Swedish Elitserien meetings on Premier Sports as well as on Sky. I know the averages pages on Sportowefakty include how many falls a rider has but was wondering if any fans are aware of riders they deem to be involved in the most crashes? Also what are the likely reasons they are? Is it simply wild riding as in overriding beyond their skill and control levels? Wheel chasing their opponents all the time? Slow reaction time when something goes wrong? Slow reaction to a move by an opponent? Lack of strength to control the bike and it's bucking and rearing on encountering unexpected grip? Slowness to react it's bucking and rearing on encountering unexpected grip? I can see in the above sample of scenarios that a rider who has higher levels of skill, experience, strength or reaction time will avoid ending up falling. So i ask not only which rider/s do you reckon have or are involved in the most falls but also WHY?
  4. Just shocked for the 17,000 fans i know they are getting refunded but what about the travel costs they've had to pay out, especially the away ones. I don't keep up to date on Polish news but if there were away fans at this match then that s bad indeed. I say 'if' because i caught sight of a recent story to do with an upcoming match mentioning the possibility that no away fans would be attending. Sorry all the members on here were left disappointed too.
  5. Oooops there's a thought. Although I think the difference is that the Danish 'on TV' is legitimate and 'legal' whilst i don't think the individual final is available other than on streams? I was unaware that you always refer to Polish racing as 'live on tv' because i never get to watch it due to the time the matches are staged so my eyes gloss over the titles of any threads. Reason for posting wasn't nitpicking just i was well disappointed as even though it's staged on a Sunday i would have been able to record it from tv and would have been English commentary. Unlikely Gollob is still in the line-up so i'll give it a miss anyway.
  6. Lol lol don't worry Scoob it's not a sicko job, unless you want to classify the massive Sportowefakty site and organization sickos too, they've also got a headline on their front page "Fatal accidents Tomasz Gollob". It's just a word that frequently gets translated wrongly from Polish, possibly the word bad or serious? Very good and one would think they'll get a larger attendance next year with all riders being fit giving us a fantastic GP series, some very good racing and drama in this year's meeting plus hopefully Swedish riders not having an awful series.
  7. You've left it late tonight for your token attempt at a wind-up post lol.
  8. He's certainly finally converting his recent years of high-scoring in the leagues into GP points scoring.
  9. Been a painful one for some of the riders but a very good evening of entertainment from Stockholm.
  10. After the racing seen here today and a great looking series next season with all riders fit, i'm looking forward to the future GP's at this stadium and highly likely an even larger crowd next season.
  11. As expected Gollob diagnosed with a concussion too (Nige don't know it yet lol)
  12. Presuming it's staged tomorrow were Gollob or Woffinden due to race in the Polish league final for their clubs? I don't know who they ride for or who is in the final.
  13. He could fall or have an engine failure or break the tapes or be struck by a bolf of lightning (that gets through a gap in the stadium roof) lol
  14. Lol no just using the tv screen, a racecard and my few brain cells tonight.
  15. Ok a quick glance but should be right. As of heat 16 the maximum series points that Hampel can get is 148. (Pre-meeting 112 + 6 so far + winning his last three rides 9 + win every race next week 21) Tai is currently on 141 pts (Pre-meeting 134 + currently 7 points). So he now needs 8 more points tonight IF Hampel wins all his remaining races.
  16. News from Poland now saying that Gollob has injured the 7th vertebra in his spine
  17. Kim Nilsson not a very wild wild card. What the speedway term for five zero's if he should attain that?
  18. Tai needs to lead his nearest opponent by 22 points (or more) at the end of the night. Start of the meeting 134 Woffinden +22 +26 over his challengers. 112 Hampel 108 Pedersen Currently 138 Woffinden +22 +27 over his challengers 116 Hampel 111 Pedersen
  19. Lol lol i haven't got a problem, so calm down, what's your problem? By the way i've had to type your quote in manually as when you posted yours you somehow placed it within mine.
