Not too impressed at all with the 'Monster' girls. Just realized it's not the Monster girls it's the tracks start girls, caught a glimpse of the Monsters in the pits approve. A couple of the SGP girls from previous years were out and out stunners Alas he only really beat Peter Ljung as Kenneth Bjerre's engine conked out again. -

Interesting to see what Chris Harris does in his third ride. His first one he was in an awesome line-up, however, he didn't look outpaced which gave hope. Unfortunately, very poor in his next next outing. -

Impressed some great little buzzbomb action last few heats. I get so tired of having to point out to people that after decades upon decades of Speedway across the world it's become clear that you often don't get passing in the early heats of a meeting. Bit of a shocker on the last bend with the rut/hole nearly catching out, i think it was, Hancock. It seemed very quiet and polite applause during the introduction of the riders - this ain't Cricket you know. However, fortunately i could hear roaring upon the first piece of action. -
As is everyone, you're very welcome. Yeah i'm hoping that the rain stays away too. Thanks for the thanks. Nice timing for yourself too. I know how you feel about how the regular times fall for you as i'm an avid follower of the NFL, MMA/UFC, NASCAR and NHL all of which are often staged in the very early hours UK time.

Just to clarify even more.......it's our (UK) Friday night turning into Saturday 4am morning. It will be 4pm Saturday afternoon local time in New Zealand. It's a great timing for me as i'll be pretty much just coming home from a few hours out on the town Please don't rain as it often does in New Zealand. -
I see once again that France are being listed as a participant in the World Cup. Same as in other years even at this late stage the Speedway Star refers to them competing too. Does anyone know if we will actually see France take part this time??? (Even the forum engine is treating them with disdain it simply refuses, even with editing attempts, to capitalize the word France in the title hee hee.)

Thank you very much for those two enlightening snippets. Greatly heartwarming news for the sport. -
Woweeeee Close....eeeee a disaster has narrowly been averted! I've been without internet access since Friday when my router broke down. BT promised me a new one to be delivered within two days. After three days i phoned up and they had no record whatsoever of the call or order! Luckily they said they would send one out the next day and it has arrived so racecards back on cue. Luckily only missed one day or league table updating, off to do that now.

Posting this a little earlier than i usually do ahead of a Grand Prix, reason being i've received a lot of emails asking if the MiniMax Racecards will be available again this year. 'No worries'* both versions will be available all season. *(note the down under phrase in the spirit of the first GP of the year, ok i know it's NZ not OZ) They normally go online in the afternoon following the draw. However, as this first GP is being staged in a different time zone i hope to have them available on the Friday morning. According to the official SGP website the draw is being staged at one of two times. The front page says 2:15pm local time and the actual draw page says 1pm local time. Either way i reckon that equates to 2:15am or 1am Friday morning (30th March) in the UK. Correct me if i'm wrong lol. You can directly download the TWO different versions from the top of the following page and as ever no advertising etc. cluttering up the card. Who Will Win The '7-12 Trophy' !
manchesterpaul replied to manchesterpaul's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That's a new one on me too. All very culinary is sport we got cups, plates and wooden spoons!. Lol -
We all know that the top 6 teams enter play-offs for the Premier League title. That's a great move to maintain interest in the season for teams and their supporters. We were also told that the teams finishing 7th to 12th would have their own play-offs too with a trophy at stake, again a good idea. The first Premier League match of the season is just a few days away - although i had thought the League Cup was to be ridden first but Rye House v Sheffield sticks out like a sore thumb amongst all the LC fixtures. Now, oddly/sadly? despite inquires to the BSPA and Speedway Star who were both very helpful in trying to find out neither of them could shed any light on the name of the competition/trophy for the teams below the top six. Will it really end up being called the 7-12 Trophy? hopefully unlikely, so if anyone gets first wind of what they are racing for do let us know. I've included the two play-offs brackets on the 2012 MiniMax league tables page and will be keen to give the trophy a title.

Monster Energy Sponsorship
manchesterpaul replied to emerald tyke's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I also am very pleased to see a 'major' brand name sponsoring the sport. It should by rights put Speedway into the minds of many people with a drip drip effect. However, a necessary and still missing requirement would be for the sponsors to actually acknowledge the sport on their website which covers a multitude of sports. I certainly think we'd be dispirited if a poll was taken of Monster employees as to their awareness of the sport existing. Just gone to the 'Monster' home page and can't find any mention of Speedway in either the main menus or various submenus and drop-down menus. I know they have a couple of articles on their site somewhere as i found them by Googling. It's been more than enough time to put up a a section on Speedway since their announcement. Wondering what they classify Speedway as because it isn't listed under any of following - with the first being the most obvious category. Two Wheel Dirt~~~Supercross, Motocross, Freeestyle Motocross, EnduroCross. I've drilled down into this section and no Speedway category to be seen. Two Wheel Asphalt (hey! you never know lol)~~~MotoGP, World Superbike, AMA Superbike, Stunt Riding. Action Sports~~~BMX, Mountain Biking, Skateboarding, Downhill. It is indeed a good sponsorship for the sport as some of these companies are very competitive and keep an eye on each other's marketing and sponsorship strategies. We have more chance of attracting the eye of major companies if one is already involved in the sport. -
Minimax National League Table
manchesterpaul replied to manchesterpaul's topic in National League Speedway
The page has now been updated for the 2012 season including the new additional league tables. http://speedway.manchesterpaul.net/leagues.html The 2011 season tables are now archived at http://speedway.manchesterpaul.net/2011_leagues.html -
Above all i stress again that the whole idea of having a combined team rather than none at all is superb. The fact that it has also provided some wonderful speedway and great enjoyment is fantastic. So i'll be as brief as possible in giving you a reply and correcting your comments. It's nice to see some people can control themselves and if they disagree they simply state their case/opinion. Unlike a post on the previous page which contains rather tiresome odd off-topic comments (the topic is the NL Play-Off Final and the teams competing in it etc. ). So won't be bothering to give that one a reply. The explanation you've given above has been proven wrong. It was pointed out in other threads on the topic in which every explanation people gave was found not to be the case. Anyway, surely the thread now should should move on to the actual racing in the finals and the hope that enough fans turned up to encourage the promoters to go with the idea again next year. Hopefully word of mouth will stir those who did not attend this year to go along. Only parting note on the aspect of the NL Play-Off Final and apologies for pointing out your assertions about the naming are wrong once more; From the sport's OFFICIAL site tonight it states as clear as day......wait for it.....wait for it......yep indeedy.... SCUNTHORPE ARE THE NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! Please don't shoot the messenger eeeeek!
-
Ok i really don't want to extend the pointing out of the farcical elements. It's only right if i point out that when it came to the semi-finals (the matches during the season were hilariously variably labelled) the BSPA had listed - as i mentioned in a previous thread; Belle Vue v SCUNTHORPE SHEFFIELD v Belle Vue So which of all the previous naming explanations account for that??? I must strongly add that like others i think the combined Scunthorpe/Sheffield idea is great and extremely worthy if it gets riding experience for youngsters. I just wish the promoting tracks had received even more support than people could afford.
-
Don't worry Squall it was a light-hearted post. So i am indeed moving on. Fullest respect to each and every fan who travels to away meetings and any events away from their home track. Please lighten up it was, as mentioned above, a truly light hearted post. Agreed it's not always possible to make that clear. It was very heart-warming indeed to hear reports of more than a few Sheffield fans in attendance.
-
Squall Noooooo!???? Noooooo!???? Surely you can't admit to even a slightest cheer? Are you embarrassingly 'band wagoning'? For once (nearly) every one of BSPA, Speedway Star, Scunthorpe, Sheffield had SCUNTHORPE errrrrm ALONE as the listed participating team in the final. Squall surely you not doing what most of the UK, and in particular Londoners do, as in cheering on a non-home town team (Manchester United). Let's be clear....Sheffield?????.....hate to tell you this but.....according to the record books and semi-final results Sheffield have NOTHING to do with this final and likely Trophy win. Not sure if i mentioned this before but......oh! for an always referred to Scunthorpe/Sheffield team. Without abuse answer me Squall counter me?
-
Errrm? I was just commenting on the averages and make up of the teams! I quoted a source that had the information presented in a more readable form paragraph wise. Plus, last i saw of the original thread it said "a new system to calculate averages will be presented later." Anyways, no biggie and thanks as ever to Ghostwalker for all the info.
