  2. Will it be a yes man or someone strong enough to stand his ground for something that is worth while.
  3. A great team giving their time for the benefits of others, and as has been said the praise is well placed and deserved, thank you all.
  4. Darcy Ward is 'barred from participating in any competition' as from August 28 after his case was referred to the FIM Disciplinary Court Darcy Ward is out of this weekend's Gorzow GP after being 'provisionally suspended' by the FIM speedwaystar‏@speedwaystarmag12 mins
  5. Disgusting words from Poole owner Matt Ford in Speedway Star, I Quote.”Fingers crossed he gets away with it because obviously we need him desperately for the play-offs”end quote. That should be a fine on its own.
  6. Why are people saying “it will be a great loss if Ward was not riding”? Ward is not Mr Speedway, Ward is not some hero of any sorts. Ward is a person the same as the rest of us who has a talent for riding a Speedway Bike. There have been many before him, as there will be many after him. Speedway will not end if Ward does not compete. There is putting someone on a pedestal and another making him some sort of God. Life will go on with or without him, for better or for worse it matters not, it will go on.
  7. This is my final post on this thread and I speak from experience here. As an ex submariner of 20 years, when at sea the bar is always OPEN. But strangely enough there is an un- written law we ALL abide by. When at sea you DON`T DRINK. Now that rule is kind of self explanatory, other people`s lives depend on your actions 24 hours a day. Now when you put your bum on a machine that has no brakes, and where people`s lives depend on your actions, and sadly some lives have been lost, not saying at any ones actions caused this but lives have been lost, it is laughing in the face of danger, and others, and the responsibility towards colleagues you race with to ignore the consequences. The words what if should never arise in this situation, what if is to late.
  8. There has been some very educational posts on this thread, and it is agreed that individuals react differently to situations of bad or distressing news,(self not excluded). But one thing is FACT, when the bottle is empty, or the cans are thrown away, the cause is still there that has to be faced and dealt with.
  9. Because the person concerned has a recognisable and well- known name in a sport is of no relevance what so ever, at this moment in time. It is the actions taken which caused a result to take place, and found to be beyond the allotted rules of the governing body, and should be treated as such. 1+1 still add up to 2 and 2+2 still make 4 no matter who does the maths. So the resulting outcome should still be the same. You cannot make allowances for a professor doing the maths, to a student doing the same.
  10. People talk of the amount drank as if it is of importance. If you kill a man with one shot or kill him with four the number is inconcequential, the end result is the same. One drink, four drinks, makes no difference knowing your future and others depend on certain standards.
  11. Lets take it to extremes, too late after there is a drastic accident that he was involved in. Yes it`s easy to say what IF, and IF might not happen. The Titanic would not sink, aircraft would not just vanish with everything and everyone on board, extreme I agree. You cannot wait till an accident takes place to judge if the person concerned was in the wrong or not, that cause should not arise no matter who it concerns. That’s why there are lines that should not be crossed in sport before something goes wrong that individuals regrets. This is a dangerous enough sport on its own without outside influences.
  12. Through out life you have to make difficult decisions. Sometimes those decisions are made easy with what the results will be. Me with all the medication I have to take means no booze, has been for years. Oh I could take some but only one outcome and that would kind of upset my family, same with cigarettes, my choice. He had a choice last night knowing the outcome if caught out, no matter what the excuses are. He made the WRONG choice. Now he has to face the music. No one made him do it...
  13. Meeting has been called OFF due to weather
  14. Somerset Speedway‏@casesrebels·5 mins UPDATE: After a visit to hospital, Stuart was given the all clear by the doctors and was able to return home that same night. #robboracing
  15. SWINDON’S Lee Smart has confirmed he has called time on his speedway career after being dumped by Poole Pirates last week. Smart, who had enjoyed a relatively long career at National League level before being picked up by Poole in the Fast Track draft this winter, struggled to perform at Wimborne Road and only managed eight points in five meetings. Smart had cut a dejected figure during Pirates’ victory over Birmingham at the end of last month, a meeting which proved to be the last of his career. He told the Advertiser: “It is a tough one because I spent a lot of money this year for only a few meetings, which is really hard to take, and I really wasn’t happy with how things ended. “It (the draft) definitely needs some changes because it has worked out for some people and really not for others. It didn’t work for me. “I have pulled the plug on speedway now. I have quit completely because I have had enough of all the politics and the rubbish which goes with it. “The whole season was awful because I was let down in the National League by not getting enough meetings and things didn’t go well in the Elite League either. “I wasn’t going to ride at all this year and I wish I had stuck to my guns in the first place.” http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/speedway/11205784.Swindon_s_Smart_calls_time_on_career/

  17. MARC Owen, Ryan MacDonald and Danno Verge have been handed call-ups to the British Under-21 semi-final at Plymouth on Saturday. The trio replace Max Clegg who has chosen to ride for his Elite League club Leicester on the same evening, Brandon Freemantle who suffered an elbow injury in a weekend crash at Plymouth, and Adam Kirby who is without equipment. David Holt and Tyler Govier take the reserve berths. GB Youth co-boss Neil Vatcher said: Even though it is very disappointing when riders pull out of these events, we are very excited about seeing how their replacements perform. Marc is coming back into competitive action after being out for almost two years when he was injured in the British Under-21 Final, whilst Ryan is making the trip down from his home in Glasgow. We really do admire his dedication and we are sure he is not coming down to Devon just to make the numbers up. Finally, Danno moves up from one of the reserve spots to take his place in the 16, and he is determined to prove to National League promoters that he is ready for a team spot. BRITISH U21 SEMI-FINAL LINE-UP:MARC Owen, Ryan MacDonald, Danno Verge,James Sarjeant (Coventry & Coventry Storm), Ben Morley (Lakeside & Kent), Oliver Greenwood (Peterborough & Coventry Storm), Darryl Ritchings (Swindon & Kings Lynn Young Stars), Dan Greenwood (Coventry Storm), Jack Kingston (Mildenhall), Nathan Greaves (Cradley), Connor Coles (Mildenhall), Tom Woolley (Buxton), James Shanes (Devon), , Danny Phillips (Cradley), Ryan Terry-Daley (Coventry Storm), Connor Mountain (Mildenhall), Rob Shuttleworth (Stoke). 23. This report in the Herald is very true, except the fact is the meeting he would of missed was Redcar this Saturday just gone & not next Saturday V Somerset. They got the dates and days wrong. So when they say "Mikkel Bech has turned his back on a hefty pay-day" This refered to last meeting He will definitely miss the home meeting V Somerset next Saturday as he is riding in the 2nd round of the World U21 championship at Berwick but he will ride for us at Somerset the previous night. Redcar @ home ....yes.....completed Somerset AWAY......yes Somerset @ home...No @ World U21
  24. When the KIDS go home and say they had a great time with Neville and laugh and a joke with Mike on the mic, and that made them feel special and can we go next week. Guess what ....its working....Yes our future spectators who dont know or are not interested in filling in a programme, they want to watch the bikes and Neville the Devil and Mike do their stuff, thats fine in our books. Put it this way if you dont want to listen pretend its the wife giving you a rollicking, bet you dont hear a word of that, talk to people around you and interact a bit more, enjoy life, you could end up like me, then you would have something to complain about.
