-
Hey Rick, what you been upto last few days ?
-
Do you ever look out for how the Bees have been doing or is it a case of the past is the past and with the new adventures in your career take you away from the sport. Had a quick look on ebay and you have a program from your testimonial up for grabs.

Roman sure was a fantastic for entertainment value but i can`t imagine being out on a track with him !! I was talking to my dad about chatting to you on here and he was saying he can remember your first season over here in 83 i think he said it was, which was ole`s last season. He recalled how you found the tracks hard to start with as they were much bigger than the one`s in the usa, however at the end of meeting there were always loads of people waiting for your autograph as the effort you put in really made an impression on the Coventry fans. I have on video the match against Cradley Heath in that 83 season when Tommy went out in heat 13 and got a 4-2 with Gary Guglimi (sorry about spelling) and the bees won 40-38 and you and Ole with Mick Bell running onto the track to give Tommy the bumps !!! I was at that meeting but i can`t remember much as i was only little but from the video the place was packed and the atmopsphere was great. I also have the eppisode of Chips with you in with Bruce. It is a shame that the fans or you got a chance to say goodbye, least we know what you are upto and if you ever do come over at any stage and have a free evening i`m sure a supporters club would be more than intrested. Snowing here in sunny England !! sure you are not having to many snow showers over there are you mate speak to you soon Rick Ross

Hey Rick, My brother is taking the pee out of me as he doesn't think you are The rick miller !! he keep sending text`s saying he is ole olsen !! (very funny) got any idea`s how i can prove to him you are him ? got another question or two as well * What was it like Having Roman Matousek as a team-mate? * When you decided to retire how long was it before you moved back to the states, did you sell all your gear?, from what you said in a previous post i take it you took a bike over with you. cheers Ross

Well as Tommy and Rick had one, only fair Kelvin had a thread. What a rider he was, have to say i think he was at his peak at coventry riding with Tommy in that 88 season. He had alot put on him in the seasons that followed and the team as a whole struggled and although i followed his progress after he left the bees i always thought it would be great if he had stayed. a few highlights i remember * finishing 3rd in the world in 87 i think it was * those really hot sunny days when the British final was on and he went on to be British champion. * Heat 15`s with Tommy. Not always like we needed a 5-1 as we had a strong side with riders always pulling there weight and getting good scores. then last season with arena essex and the meeting was delayed and few riders didn`t want to ride then some one said something to Kelvin and what ever it was did something as he rolled back the years and put a vintage display on in what i guess would be his last meeting at Brandon so kelvin, if you read this or some one knows Kelvin pls ask him to add his thoughts, oh and he can say hi to rick again !!

I remember that meeting when Rick`s engine fell to bits, if it was me i`d have been really mad but peter york came up to you didn`t he rick and although u looked quite shocked you were really calm about it considering. I just been flicking through some old bits i have and found Rick`s testimonial on the bees video (remember your presenting work you did on those end of season video`s !!) hope you don`t mind all these questions rick ? got a few more for you anyway ...lol *where in the states are you living these days? *what made you retire when you did? *not sure if you know but JJ did a few meeting for the bees last season, how crazy is it that 12 years after you left he`d still be going. *were you ever tempted to leave coventry or did you have any offers to go else where? * what stunts did you do in Starsky and Hutch ? i`m sure i`ll think of some more as the day goes on!! Thanks so much again Rick for comming on here and being good enough to spend time replying to all these questions. I really hope somebody on here does have links to other ex bees riders or any ex riders in general as be great to catch up. and i`m sure we would all love to see Rick come over in the next couple of seasons to say hello. Cheers again Rick and hope to catch you soon Ross

Thanks for all this info Rick, did you ever keep any of your speedway gear and if so what did you keep? do any of your old injuries from speedway trouble you now?, i know you had a bad crash that ended your bees season early in 92 when u did your collerbone at the pits turn, other than that you were quite lucky really with injuries.
-
Would be great to see you, so u have to keep us posted if you ever do come back over. What films have you done stunts for then? have u got kids now?
-
set up a new Rick Miller post in years gone by section
-
have u been back to Brandon since u left the bees?
-
As Tommy`s thread has gone off track alittle i thought it would be a good idea to start one for Rick. Be good to hear peoples memories and stories about Rick and when the man himslef gets chance he can share a few of his own.
-
Hey Rick !! It would be really great to have u post on here when you can, Have you been over to the uk much since you left in 92? hope to hear from you soon and as i posted earlier feel free 2 send me an e-mail. Take care Ross
-
What are you up to these days?
-
If is that is you Rick !! can u e-mail me pls cheers p.s addy in profile
-
would be great if it was Rick !! don`t want any one pretending to be him do we ??
-
would make one hell of a question and answer night !! even if it was one or two of them? for me that team were "Coventry Bees", now its 7 riders who turn up and dont understand how alot of supporters feel about the club and its history, do a season or two and move on. Speedway is in a different age though these days and its such a shame,
-
Be great if it is Rick Miller !!! remember him and kelvin going round in the old truck the riders went round in doing skids at the end of season presentation !!! fingers crossed we get another reply !! Ross

Would be great to see Tommy at Brandon again, guess it`s my age but the team we had with Tommy, Kelvin, Rick, JJ was a dream, they were a "team" not like today with all the changes that happen. They were Coventry through and through and when you watch the video`s back you wish you could go upto brandon once more to see them all again, knowing you had Tommy and Kelvin to go out in heat 15. Great memories he gave us and such a shame he left coventry a few seasons before he should have. Be a great idea for the bees website or the telegraph to do a where they are now kind of section. If anyone knows how u can get in touch with tommy or any other riders be great to know what they are doing and get them to join us on the forum. 1 last thing !!!! I hate that new Bee design !! give us back the fighting bee

I know last night was a shambles but i think for everyone to be calling for Ole Olsen to quit is a little harsh, do you really think he wanted a track like that? most of the man made tracks this season have been ok and they are improving all the while and especially cardiff was a good surface. I know Ole likes to get stuck into it and maybe sometimes push`s his position to far but there are more people involved last night than ole olsen. Maybe the riders should have asked to go out saturday morning or even by looking at the track they could tell what kind of racing they might get ? these are the best riders in the world so it puzzles me why they even went out for one race!! what i`m trying to say is that i know Ole isn`t on everyone`s xmas list but for people to point the finger at him alone is not fair. Maybe people would like the British Grand prix at Brandon again next year and have all the GP`s at speedway tracks again and even then i guess people are going to moan about the tracks then. i`v said my bit and waffled loads so i`ll leave it at that and let you guys have a go back at me and say how wrong i am etc etc.      :?:
