  1. Great signings of two lads with very bright futures
  2. We have one lovely smooth engine delivers the power to the back wheel really well. It's an excellent stepping stone from the 250 as the power is more predictable than the gm. strange how so many were eager to criticise this opportunity when so many think that the iow 2valve challenge was the way forward
  3. Can't see us replacing Theo prior to the season starting unless like the post above states one of the Scottish teams don't run. Personally think he will do,a decent job especially at home
  4. I do like the positive feeling of the last few comments
  5. Kennedy is on a 4 point average for a reason and to bring him in to replace Jake would be folly. We would be woefully weak and the potential to loose every week at home would bring no benefit to the club. having said that I don't have a clue who could replace Jake
  6. Having spent the last 4 or 5 days virtually non stop with little breaks, I’ve now completed the National ‘Development’ League Fixtures. It’s certainly been a challenge this one has, with it going to be a short season and less dates to play with and trying to please every club by spreading out the away fixtures the best I could. I must thank all 8 clubs for their patience, help and understanding. As stressful as it was, it was enjoyable to do and I’m looking forward to working with these 8 clubs during the 2021 season when we get going in May. A couple of nights even involved me staying awake to between 3-4am, checking dates, availability and clashes and I wasn’t even on nights. Just shows the commitment and time I put into this Voluntary job! I’ll be sleeping a lot for the next 3 days, so no more fixture changes yet please!
  7. like the look at that team and personally hope they use a rider with no fixture clashes instead of bailey its not development if using RR or a guest
  8. Maybe but many Chuck their dummies out the pram only to regret it And then ask for it back sooner or later
  9. That's not as I understand it . If you rode at anytime last year whilst holding a licence you have to pay this year practice is classed as riding . If you didn't ride at all I believe there is some form of credit. This may have changed but that was how it was explained to me.
  10. Another good post but some clubs will never be encouraged to give extra track time and coaching to riders . I have lost count of the time's juniors have there spot at the end reduced because a senior wants to test something. He then proceeds to do a start and 20 wheelies. please don't think the current crop of riders and those just behind them lack experience in racing. These groups have been at it for year racing nearly every week at amateur meetings and British youth level . Admittedly some are better than others but that's how things work but I don't see any of the dreaded wobblers everyone is worrying about.
  11. Fantastic post well thought out and a spot on assessment of how it should be
  12. I have no issues with David personally believe his in the pits experience would be good for a young development side. Also hope that IOW supporters don't become bitter towards the league and its riders remember it's your club who have refused to ride thus taking away 7 team spots.
  13. That team is as I believe this league should be several up and coming riders and a couple of experienced ones to pass on advice and encouragement and score a few points. A very similar thing to scunthorpe in 2005 with Wayne Carter as the experience and a load of young lads with limited experience.
  14. im not sure whether it is an age thing or not but to me it seems like a straight swap on potential points scoring ability and like you say Leicester probably wasnt the best fit. problem is with the late changes it was always going to leave some riders high and dry
  15. I have looked at James results and in 18 his average was less than 1 and 19 it was around 2 so personally I can see why a club would give Ben a chance. I'm still quite shocked that it was Ben and not Mickie Simpson
  16. Because it's the bsf and it's the law to embrace negativity and frown upon positivity
  17. Personally I think all opinions are valid don't always agree but there are lots of posters on here have nothing positive to say. Moan about lack of opportunities and the state of the sport then moan about the things that are put in place to help it. Support it embrace it it's easier to smile than frown
  18. As I apparently have an agenda to like the Bspl I will have my say. If the IOW were such a progressive club why have they not embraced what is in my opinion a dawning of a new era in British speedway with the advent of the rising stars and taking the NDL back to its original intention of a development league. Admittedly the cut to 35 for team build is harsh and has led to some unsavoury measures to allow teams to come under the limit but it had to be done . the new era may not be the promised land but speedway in the uk could not of carried on as it was . I personally hope the 5 year plan continues and in 4 years they announce what is going to happen after that . Remember the plan actually covers riders who are 11 now as they will be coming into the system. also like to add I do think it's a shame they didn't choose to try to make it work.
  19. Hi mate he's on the 250s at the moment and not old enough for 2021 but will be involved with the njl when 250cc are racing at Berwick
  20. Yep and it's been fantastic to watch Sam and Harry McGurk, Archie Freeman , Danny smith ,Jordan Palin , Leon Flint, Kyle Bickley, Luke Harrison and many others come through from 125 to 500 then into league racing. Best format tell me if there's a better one .
  21. First and foremost I'm supportive because I see the opportunities going forward not just for my lad but also every other junior riding coming through the system. Our family agenda so you are clear is to use the system to the best of our ability and progress through it. We don't want to be a team that blocks the system for other riders to be able to get a team place. If the boy don't make the standard then so be it but if he then misses out it's not the system that's failed it will be him . I do believe that no rider should have 3 spots and if a rider reaches a certain average he should be not be allowed 2 spots and definitely not one in NDL
  22. This has to be seriously the worst post I've read in ages the Njl is a far better product than any other junior league racing. They give riders from 125 cc the chance to compete from 8 years old and go right through to 500 . Other junior leagues give juniors a race when 15 on 500s only and above and already at an adequate level having raced in other junior competitions examples British youth or amateur meetings then try and claim they developed them . Don't give me mdl sdl are the saviours of speedway they are far from it. that said much respect to those who volunteer to do the organising
  23. Sad to see the Island not running but in fairness having read a lot of these posts I wonder if Berwick Eastbourne and Newcastle would of joined under the previous rules and committed to a full season . Saying it is the fault of the Bspl is the usual line poured out by those usual suspects, something had to be done and decisions had to be made by the individual clubs one has said no others said yes . Always liked the vibe Martin and Barry put out and the way they promoted the sport and will be a big loss to the league but do feel what is happening at Berwick and Newcastle with clear and precise paths from juniors to seniors is there to be seen and long may it continue
