  1. Surely it's more can the Kings Lynn public afford to pay to watch EL and PL at the same venue in the same season to keep it sustainable in both leagues?
  2. Maybe the world No.6 one week, the No.14 the week after, No.8 and 17 the week after and ending the month with the world No.7!! Wow! Sky must be drooling at such "eliteness"! That'll bring the crowds in - as you all witnessed last season surely?!
  3. Famously owned by P'boro after his (forced?) transfer from Swindon a couple of seasons ago went to tribunal etc Point him, Baby Bjerre and Roynon south on the A140 and give em a good shove!
  4. No, it says they want to ride "top flight" speedway, it doesn't sepcify the EL, it may be that they might (one or both) fancy a stint in the PL
  5. In all likelihood - from here! The trouble with the forums is that people are by and large anonymous yet some really do sound as if they are "in the know" where in reality they know as many facts as the next man!
  6. Really? Must of been a different Matt Ford from Poole speedway who said he would ditch the EL and run in the NL a year or so ago then! The difference is that everybody could see he was trying (badly) to talk the talk - this time it looks like Sandhu and Frost will have bigger balls and may well walk the walk
  7. In a word - yes!! I'd like to thank Tony Mole for taking Brum up and allowing us to swap, I do feel sorry for Brum fans though This is something I've brought up in a couple of the threads about the EL debacle over the past few days, and it's a subject that has quite frankly pee'd me off - it was only a couple of weeks ago that Ipswich's choices seemed to be: Run in the Elite league and lose more money that we don't have (in other words not an option) or close the gates for at least a season - the cash carrot wasn't being dangled to us to provide the numbers of teams in the EL, why? Well the BSPA knew that if we closed the doors there would still be 8 teams in the EL and the Sky deal would be safe, but now Coventry and P'boro are threatening to pull the plug that Sky contract is in real danger and it's the lifeblood of the EL, they NEED KL (or any other team) to guarentee a minimum of 8 EL teams regardless of what Cov & P'boro decide to do and the only way they would get anybody interested in joining the EL is with a dirty great pile of money which they now seem to of found - I honestly cannot believe that after a decade or so of success in the PL and multiple refusals of joining the EL that the Chapmans would seriously consider the BSPA's cash carrot that is being dangled? It's so short sighted it's almost insulting! If the question was posed to the Chapmans: "Would you accept this pile of cash to join our league knowing that it could set your club back 15 years or so?" and the Chapmans didn't laugh it off I'd be amazed, I genuinely would.
  8. Stars going EL and rumours of a "new" club also running in the EL? Seems the big boys need more cannon fodder - don't buy into the EL "dream", there are plenty of people who did and got burnt It all looks like it's desperate measures from the EL to hang onto the Sky cash cow - they've certainly hit the panic button from what I can see! Like headless chickens....
  9. Just send them down the a140, we'll look after them!
  10. Not after last season when he "rode" for us, no thanks
  11. The same Rempala that was AWFUL at THIS SEASONS 16 Lapper? No thanks, I was really looking forward to seeing him again that night a month or so ago, remembering how he used to ride totally balls to the wall and his rave reviews from Berwick supporters - and he done none of it, was really disappointing, maybe if the corner banking is added (as expected) this winter then he might be able to do a job at home but for me he's a bigger gamble than Dawid. How about Zibi Suchecki? He was definetly the more talented of the two when they rode at reserve for us a few years ago but a bad injury has stopped him in his tracks pretty much ever since, any idea where he is now and what PL average he might be?
  12. I just think that Dawid has found his level in the UK as a reliable 4-4.5pt EL rider (8-9 PL), he proved he can adapt to new tracks and be competitive when he scored 12'' in the Newcastle away leg on a track I don't believe he'd ever seen before. It's not a case of chosing "imports" first, it's more being realistic, CL seems to like Dawid and I think he's pretty solid aswell, a lot is said about Polish riders but Dawid has been very very dedicated to Ipswich in some very difficult circumstances which I think is very much appreciated by the promotion, so, if it's in his and the promotions interests then I'd be amazed if they didn't try and use him in the PL next year (if indeed that is where we are to ride) - and he is a Ipswich asset so no loan fee's to pay
  13. Surely Dawid Stachyra would be the first name pencilled in
  14. And also, "allegedly" Bratleys interest at Ipswich.....
  15. It will give the Louis (and possibly other teams promoters) ammunition at the AGM knowing that the EL need 9 teams to keep SKY happy, obviously if it's less than 9 that ammo gets reduced unless another team(s) is prepared to also withdraw from the EL, it's a bit like a mini mutiny! He must of got his Lakeside confused with Eastbourne and/or Belle Vue!
  16. One of the main roads leading up to Foxhall is lined with houses (Bell Lane if you wish to look on Google maps) and also the near by Grange Farm housing estate has grown and grown over the past few years in all directions - including towards Foxhall It's very annoying but the speedway was there before the housing but that doesn't stop people complaining - much like people who buy a house near an airport then complain about the noise it makes! I don't mean if we drop to the PL it's unlikely we will come back to the EL, I mean if Ipswich speedway close their doors (and they can freeze the license for upto 3 years) then I doubt any form of speedway will ever come back to Ipswich - or Foxhall at least!
  17. That is exactly what they are doing reading the latest press release from CL, as he says, the future of the club is out of their hands now. Does anybody know for absolute certainty what Sky have said with regards to the amount of minimum teams that have to be in the EL for them to be interested in covering it? If it's 9 then we might stand a chance, but if it's 8 then I fear it's bye bye Ipswich - and it will be for good, if it goes I think it's very unlikely to ever come back, the local residents and Spedeworth would put pay to that......
  18. And this is relevent to the thread because?
  19. Since the last minute collapse of this deal they have "even gone as far" as contacting a local businessman who has expressed a interest in taking over the club? Shouldn't this kind of thing of been sounded out a long long time ago and not as some kind of desperate measure to retain control? There is a saying - "put up or shut up" and the Louis clearly can't put up, so time to move aside and let someone who can do it, do it! Otherwise the speedway at Ipswich will close and won't re-open = the fans lose. The Louis will pocket nothing = the Louis lose The potential investor won't have his chance = they lose Everybody loses! But if the Louis stop trying to cut their noses off to spite their faces they can walk away with something, the investor gets the club they want and the fans get a breath of fresh air and speedway at this once great club - it's now time for the Louis to show if they care more about Ipswich Witches or themselves, sadly I fear the longer this goes on the more likely that it will be the latter
  20. Not much to get excited about, not exactly good news: This is in the East Anglian Daily Times: WITCHES DEAL FALLS THROUGH Ipswich Witches director Chris Louis has admitted an 11th hour deal to bring Elite League speedway to Foxhall stadium in 2011 has fallen through. And although it doesn't mean there won't be EL racing at the Suffolk circuit next year, the breakdown is a massive blow to the club, who were gearing up to announce the perceived good news to their fans this week. And with the British Speedway Promoters' Association AGM taking place in Bournemouth, starting Thursday, Louis is travelling to the south coast knowing the future of the club is very much up in the air. "We thought we had secured a deal with interested parties to secure Elite League racing at Foxhall, but it fell through yesterday" Louis admitted. "It's a big blow, I can't pretend it isn't. But we are not the only Elite League club in this position. So we go to the AGM on Thursday to find out our future. It could be either league, Elite or Premier. I don't want to think it could be no league at all."
  21. If he was before then I doubt he is now that he's No.2 in the world! Wish he'd ride in the UK so we could get loan fees for him (and Gollob!)
  22. We should try and retain Scott, Danny, Dawid and possibly Ales (if we can't get Sundstrom) - why the last two? Well at reserve they are very good, they won't pull up many tree's in the main body of the team or hold down a regular second string spot - but with either one in the reserves I think we could do well. So with those four, add in Schlein/Batchelor, Barker/Swiderski and Katajisto and you have a half decent side in my opinion
  23. I might be missing something here Presenter but 1952+60 = 2012, next season is 2011? I expect I'm wrong though apologies if I am
