  1. Back in my Newport days we always reckoned a Cardiff Virgin was a sheila that could run faster than her brothers!
  2. I couldn't see that lot in the same Room together somehow!
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it Johnno in Italy and Rooboy & Chris Holder in Hungary?
  4. Ta Muchly fer that, Slav - particularly liked the first Photo - they'll do!
  5. I can supply you with the address of my Alzheimers' Specialist - now, where did I put it?
  6. I think from memory he had hernia problems during the latter part of his career.
  7. Spot on Bobbath, but I'd throw Ivor Brown into the mix as well; another rider not renowned for taking prisoners.
  8. Great rider and I think one of the founder members of the Wasps. Didn't he partner Peter Vandenberg at number 6? Jack lost his life in an accident at Bendigo Speedway (Vic.) very late in his chequered career on 9.12.1972. Never won an Aussie title being always up against the peerless Aub Lawson in the early days plus other great riders like Jack Parker, Lionel Levy, Ken McKinlay and Keith Ryan then later on against Mike Broadbanks, Gote Nordin, Jimmy Gooch, whotsisname from NZ (G'day Ivan!) and one of my heroes Jim Airey. Just looking back on that lot; what a team you could pick outta that bunch!!
  9. I don't think anyone could put it better than that Bryn. R.I.P. Kenny.
  10. Obviously worth going out of yer way fer a watch then - as in "I'd walk a mile for a Kamil"
  11. Kamil Brzozowski from Poland is booked for the Welsh Open at Queensway Meadows in July - anyone know much about him? Another Miracle Pole for the Wasps, perhaps?
  12. Pity we can't all get to the Gold Coast this weekend for the big mixed meeting, Bikes, Midgets and Sidecars plus Ivan Mauger on his 64 Long Tracker - half yer luck, Trackman. say Hi to Gavin for me if you get outta the pits!
  13. Not this year, my financial plan is heavily based around The Man in the Hat (That's winning Tatts, or the Lottery in Ozspeak). Sidecar GC looks inviting but I'm saving for Ozchamps 2008. However if you know of any Brewery handy I'm always open for Sponsorship! Pioneer Park is almost next door, a mere 2000km as the Galah flies! Youse'll hafta grab one of them flash Pink T-shirts! I'll get one one day - apparently Ashtons Circus needed a new tent so they used up all my material!
  14. And just ta Recipracate M8, there'll be a ******* large Antipodean Presence (No, ******, not me!) in Cardiff next ******* GP including at least a couple from ******* Darwin. Be nice to them and buy them Heapsa ******* P***!
  15. Some marvellous shots there, Trackman, thanks.
  16. I was just doing a post on the death of Gorgeous George Tatnell, Midget/Speedcar racer and wondered if any of you'd seen this site? http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~stvmagro/pag...hotogallery.htm Well worth a look.
  17. I'm afraid I can't make it to Vojens, Iris, any chance of posting me a Carton? MAAAAAAAAATE!
  18. Sorry, M8! We don't get the 3/4 hr edited highlites tape until the mail boat gets in in 3 months time!! Hopefullly we get better coverage when IMG talkes over properly.
  19. Rooboy can do anything he likes! Why? 'Cos he's from Darwin, of course! Ask any Darwinian!
  20. Congratulations for coming out from under yer Rock, Wolf. In answer to yer query, the 9-time Australian Solo Champ comes from somewhere south of Monmore Green.
  21. From: http://www.speedwaybikeaustralia.com/ ADAMS QUOTES POST MEETING: "This is just what the doctor ordered. I'm battered and bruised after a month of big crashes, but this makes it all worthwhile." "We had a team meeting this afternoon and talked through a couple of things and it has all worked out perfectly." "I have a strong support network around the world and it is nice to show my appreciation by winning something big. Thanks to my supporters, team and family. This is a great day for me and i'm right back in the hunt now." Great news for Leigh and a well-deserved Victory for one of the most popular riders Oz has ever produced. Just rewards for all he's put in - lets hope he goes all the way this year.
  22. Welcome to the 21st Century. IMO IMG is a step in the right direction for getting the product on a true world stage like F1, MotoGP etc. Like it or not the old one-off is gone for good, and the rider who is the most consistent over the whole season will be the Champion. Sure IMG will benefit, they're not in it for charity are they? The other party that will benefit most is of course the Riders; can't see anything wrong with that, can you? Every Rider who's ever jumped on the back of a speedway bilke dreams of being World Champ, just ask them. They'd also like to make the Dollars commensurate with the risks they take for our entertainment, don't forget they're sub-contractors; their first loyalty is to themselves. All this "lets go back to the intensely parochial so-called Good Old Days" guff is not worth the air they blow into the safety fences. Its Time to move on and get with the program; making Speedway more accessible and acceptable to a Global Audience. There's big money out there - Dale Earnhart Junior rakes in over $20 Million Dollars a year just in Merchandising alone and he's just a NASCAR Driver. Jason Crump will make a Motza this year and good on him, but in comparison to the Alonsos and Rossis he's on Peanuts. Lets give him and all our other Heroes the chance at least rather than slagging it off before its started. Its about time we had a regular US and Oz GP on the Calendar, not to mention Dubai and Seth Africa and even India -d'you know how many Motorcyclists there are on the sub-continent? People the world over want the chance to see the best riders on the planet, and who are we to gainsay them.
  23. At the Sydney leg of OzChamps 2007 we had a parade of about a dozen Midgets, all immaculately restored, plus driven by the original drivers including Bathurst 1000 winner John Harvey. Best thing about living in Sydney in the 70's was Speedway meetings with Solos, Sidecars and Midgets - something for everyone. Don't mind World of Outlaws but these modern Speedcars got no soul, and as for those things they race in Pommyland! I remember watching the Red Duke when was it Eric Boocock brought Halifax down to Somerton Park.
  24. From Worldspeedway: The starting list of the Team Speedway Junior QR1 in Debrecen (HUN), 03.06.07 and QR2 in Poznan (POL) 03.06.07 Qualifying Round 1, 03 June 2007, Debrecen, Hungary, 11:00 hrs Great Britain 1 Edward Kennett 2 Lewis Bridger 3 Daniel King 4 James Wright 17 Ben Barker Sweden 5 Tomas H Jonasson 6 Ricky Kling 7 Billy Forsberg 8 Simon Gustafsson 18 Robin Törnqvist Czech Republic 9 Matĕj Kùs 10 Hynek Štichauer 11 Filip Šitera 12 Luboš Tomièek 19 Martin Gavenda Hungary 13 Roland Kovács 14 Attila Lörincz 15 József Tabaka 16 Tamás Sike 20 tba Qualifying Round 2, 03 June 2007, Poznan, Poland, 17:15 hrs Poland 1 Karol Zabik 2 Pawel Hlib 3 Krzysztof Buczkowski 4 Marcin Jedrzejewski 17 Mateusz Szczepaniak Russia 5 Daniil Ivanov MFR 6 Emil Saifutdinov 7 Igor Kononov 8 Roman Kantiukov 18 Aleksey Guzaev Denmark 9 Morten Risager 10 Nicolai Klindt 11 Kenneth Hansen 12 Patrick Hougaard 19 Klaus Jakobsen Australia 13 Troy Batular 14 Chris Holder 15 Cory Gathacole 16 Robert Kzeizak 20 Trevor Harding Nice turn of spelling in the Oz team - puts SCB to shame. Particularly like Troy (Count) Batular
