  1. Sadly our amateur historian wears blinkers when it comes to reading anything that proves he's wrong, kennylane.
  2. Half-past twelve Friday morning - OMG! Lunchy & the Kirbys get in a bit earlier - that'll give 'em time to fill the fridge. Dick Barrie'll be there Wednesday - He'll be looking for freebies as usual! Campo's managed to sleaze into the VIP section; he's promised to wave to us while he's knee-deep in free pi$$!
  3. At the Boxing Day meeting at Kurri Kurri he was experimenting with three or four motors (in five races - kept Strider going flat out in the pits, what with new rear tyres for each race as well!) with the view to using two in the GPs. Not much point sending them over to bring 'em back again. I'd imagine his frames, etc would have been sent over though - fair few ex-Crumpy machines circulating over here.
  4. Pretty straightforward, kennylane. Shame the self-aggrandising amateur historians among us can't face FACTS.
  5. I would have thought Crumpy will be sending his gear over separately. He's still in Oz and will be driving in the Celebrity Challenge at the Australian F1GP this weekend, then practising behind closed doors at Kurri Kurri in the week before the NZSGP
  6. With Auckland booked into the circuit for the next three years, IMG reps were in Oz last month looking again at the two main contenders for an Aussie GP for next season, Gillman and Kurri Kurri, with a view to running a GP in Oz next year either the week before or after NZ. Potential Government support is being lobbied for, but according to local Speedway Bible Speedway Racing News IMG are prepared to promote it themselves if no Federal or State funding is available. Meanwhile up in Kurri Kurri Campo is getting ready to shut up shop in the week before NZGP as Jason Crump & a few of his GP mates are planning on using the track for an intensive training session behind closed doors, before heading to the Land of the Wrong White Crowd. Any news on whether Nigel & Kelvin are flying out yet, Phillip? Less than three weeks now to the first Southern Hemisphere GP in a decade, and excitement is building among the Aussie Army of Supporters as we prepare to raise the National IQ level across the Tasman.
  7. Monster are heavily involved in V8 racing in Oz, and having been a recipient of their corporate hospitality I can attest to their willingness to go the extra mile to look after their clients and customers - plus the Monster Girls are GREAT! http://www.google.co...iw=1280&bih=685
  8. Announced in Oz yesterday that NZGP will be shown Live on SPEED Channel. 1.30pm Eastern Time
  9. Of course if you come along to the NZGP there won't BE any boring bits; there rarely are any boring bits at a live GP, as I'm sure you'd be aware..
  10. I'd be very surprised if SKY aren't broadcasting the GP, particularly since a certain SKY OB producer and Interviewer, who just happens to hail from the Land of the Wrong White Crowd, will be in Auckland on that particular weekend, if only to collect on a couple of drinks I owe him over the Bledisloe Cup!
  11. I'll be there watching it live as well, Hammer, along with thousands of Aussie Invaders!, plus hopefully recording it on Austar back in Darwin.
  12. ....and.... ? I saw them at Ayr, for the North Queensland title, where TIGER Josh G gave them a huge touch-up. Don't recall anyone beating Crumpy at North Brisbane either. Mate, don't get me wrong, I think they are a great bunch of lads, and I urge you to get behind the Scholarship for next season's visit.
  13. Shirley Knott! Naughty, naughty, Snacky! You know our keyboard heroes wouldn't go within a bull's roar of actually meeting the people they slag off! While I admire your patriotism, and can confirm first-hand that the Darren & Sharon Boocock Scholarship boys acquitted themselves well, they weren't exactly riding against the cream of the crop, JJ.
  14. Look at the surface, Bavarian. Most Aussie Speedways have gone to Clay, which is great for Sprintcars but not conducive to bikes.
  15. I'm sure Carley'd be rapt to find herself included in the 16 MAN line up. fullockracingwa! She's the daughter of former Aussie Sidecar Champ Jeff Gittus, who swung for the great Dennis Nash in back-to-back Championship victories in 88/89.
  16. https://www.facebook...202324549852897 plus various NZ forums and http://www.speedway.co.nz/ - Bavarian
  17. Damo would walk into any PL team on a five point average and put at least a point on that no worries; personal reasons are the only things stopping him going to the UK. He's having heaps of fun in sunny North Queensland anyhow; fishing, pigging and generally enjoying life with his girlfriend - - why would he want to freeze?
  18. Not Again! Is it Groundhog day on here or something? Has anyone heard if Peterboro or Coventry are in the EL this year?
  19. Interesting happenings last bnight with far-reaching consequences for Australian and World Speedway. half-way through heat 7 going into turn 3 lap two Sean McLellan hit the ground (and Brenton!) hard - broken collarbone, Brenton Barnfield; Kayoed in the incident - concussion, being kept in for observation. To my knowledge under NSW OH & S laws any life-threatening incident has to be reported to Police; after the ambulances had returned from taking the lads to Maitland Hospital we had another full round then the Cavalry arrived - a Three-pipper Dickless Tracy and her cohorts no less - that's a divisional commander, all the way from Newcastle. After viewing video and photostream evidence of the coming together it was decided that the meeting could continue, to the great relief of organisers, competitors and spectators alike. In NSW Tracks are governed by the Sport & Recreation dept, whereas in the other states it's down to MA to inspect tracks.
  20. Your raving - ooops I mean Roving Reporter is here at Ground Zero: yesterday's rain that affected much of the Hunter seems to have avoided the track - blue skies was the order of the day. Today's Weather is isolated showers according to the latest forecast - I'll go with that. Soaking rain for a coupla hours last night will have helped the track, although it looked a picture yesterday arvo - mind you, I was feeling pretty relaxed at the time, must have been the fresh country air, all that greenery, eh? Harley Horwood has had to withdraw at the last moment due to a vehicular disaster following the precipitation in SE QLD; apparently the wick in the engine of his work vehicle went out. He's been replaced by Sean McClennan after a thrilling high speed last-minute tri-state telephonic hook-up - you should try balancing a stubby and a mobile phone between your knees while driving and lighting a ciggie - who says men can't multi-task? Approaching the end of my epic January Speedway Trek I'm really looking forward to tonight: the Under-21s field is very competitive - at least eight riders are good enough to win while a surprise is always on the cards, and I'm looking forward to seeing Dalton Nilson again in the 350s; most impressed with him in the supports at Brisvegas earlier in the month, and Lawson Walters after his good showing in the 125s will be interesting to watch. hopefully Brady Kurtz suffered no ill effects from his major off at Gillman last week. No news yet on any more late withdrawals from either line-up, Junior, although with large bits of Oz under water again some of the QLD boys will be wearing water wings: fingers crossed Olly shows up - only a day's drive from SA! Lunchy's doing Updates, so join us there, and following the planned ingestion of large amounts of giggleweed this arvo expect the expert comments tonight to be witty, pithy and to the point - as long as me batteries hold out, anyhow - the mobile's not a problem but the pacemaker's due for a service!
  21. The feeling is reciprocated, I can assure you - - but let's face it, when your only other neighbours are penguins who else are you gonna hate? In fact, since today's Strayaday, we're going one step further -
