  1. Tai Woffinden will be the main guest on the Colin Murray show on Talk Sport on Tuesday. The show starts at 10 but guests come in at 11 and are usually on for 30 minutes or more. Well Done Tai
  2. The only way you will get the likes of Pedersen, Hancock, Gollob and Hampel to ride in Britain again is to have a maximum of 18 matches and all on a set night. Trouble is that this country can't afford to pay riders like these unless they double the entrance fee and get crowds of over 2000 at least which isn't going to happen. You will not attract new fans if tickets are over £30 and you won't find sponsors willing to put in a six figure sum if they are not getting the media coverage to compensate for such an outlay of money. Plus Matt Ford or CVS will not want to have just 9 meetings a season and the lower riders would have to double up to make it worthwhile which means half a team would be doubling up riders who may not be available for some meetings and with such a strong line up they would need a minimum wage for each meeting knowing they can't rely on just points money. The time has come when we have to say that we are no longer a major league compared to other countries and we must make the product on offer one that will see tracks making money even if it means the top riders are Bomber or Scott. At least this would mean a more balanced line up where a reserve can beat a number one even on an away track. Maybe one solution is for all tracks to be one league and tracks that wants to hold EL meetings would hold them on a set night and the other tracks would hold another event to make up fixtures if they needed too. Frankly I would see the next season as being a step closer to moving to one big league in 2015.
  3. Peterborough do well to field one team considering most of their assets would rather ride elsewhere on loan. The fact is that finally British Speedway has realised that it does not have the backing or following of other countries and the big earners will have to ride for what's on offer or forget it and most will take the second option.
  4. Leicester and Coventry are looking at race nights due to clashing with the GP's and each other. Heard that one is looking at Wednesdays and the other at Thursdays. There was even a suggestion that Tuesdays were considered which would obviously clash with Sweden
  5. Krzysztof Kasprzak will start as the#1 next season and Kenneth Hansen is a possible signing but there are a few tracks interested in him but much depends on how the league is formed as there is possibly another track also moving up while a few big names are likely to be missing next season. If there is 11 or 12 teams and riders like Freddie Lindgren missing then the points limit may be as low as 36 which would mean only a few new riders would be required to bring them up to strength and able to compete at this level. Should be a good choice for Leicester to move up with matches against Coventry and Peterborough as local derbies and not too far from other tracks while the costs wouldn't be too much more than now and having an established top rider in the team sponsorship could be more forthcoming.
  6. Martin Smolinski and Ben Barker could hhold the key to the Bees line up next season as Birmingham want to bring them back and Bees are interested in two of their assets in exchange on loan. Linus Sundstrom and Scott Nicholls could form a decent top three with Summers as a second string.
  7. Some of these listed may not be back next season but Craig Cook and Jacob Thorssell look good prospects to add a point onto those averages and think Chris Harris will be a big scorer next season if the limit is lowered to around 38. If he is doubling up then Pontus Aspgren has certainly Improved a lot and if he returns then Mikkel Michelsen should be a rider to add points to his average. Nick Morris could also make big strides if he can keep his head.
  8. Kildemand is clearly a favourite at Swindon but it remains to be seen if Danish riders could fit in Britain if they also ride in Poland and Sweden. Batchelor, Doyle and Morris could be a more effective top three. Can't see Ashley Birks coming back from his injury and may be forced to retire.
  9. If Wolverhampton had only got hold of Mikkel Michelsen when they had the chance then the play offs would have been better and the outlook for 2014 would be better. Freddie is almost certain to miss British Speedway next season so that will free up some points and would think Ludvig may be missed out as Nicolai may be back. Sadly I think Kenneth Hansen may be in the thoughts for next season
  10. No surprise as it's not stopping and forecast for more rain tomorrow. Let's hope the opening fixture next season includes Freddie, PK and Holder taking on the World Champion
  11. Ty Proctor was possibly the best rider Wolverhampton had at one stage last season and while I understand that he is coming back from a bad injury, he more than deserves to another year which he will get and if the limit is lower he could be an ideal signing as he could average over seven. As for Adam, he was poor early on but he did a good job for the team and could also be a steady influence next season but I agree there are better riders on lower averages. Proctor and Thorssell are definitely in next season and the same with Tai and Ricky. It's just then to see what's left
  12. You have to wonder if Pontus will be in the Wolves team next season as he obviously wants to double up if possible and when Jacob was injured at the end of the season, Pontus wasn't even asked to fill in even after a stunning display at Monmore days before the play offs. If the limit is much lower it would not be a surprise to see both Lindgren's left out and those spaces filled by two new riders with Sam Masters a possible after missing out on a place this season at the last moment. Woffinden Skornicki Proctor Wells and Thorssell will be a reliable foundation to build on in what could be a more comfortable league for clubs to be financially viable.
  13. Does it really matter what Tattoos he has as this is a young man who has reached the very top at just 23 and done it in such a way that the country should be proud of by raising money for charity and giving thousands of people time for photos and autographs. Good to see he is looking at another year at Wolverhampton and give British Speedway a lift it very much needed.
  14. PK unlikely but Fast Freddie Lindgren may well be the best option for both parties
  15. Think you will find Freddie may have to make way at Wolverhampton if they are going to pay the going rate for the World Champion but he is very likely to be the Swedish nomination for the 2014 series and will be on new machinery and may well give England a miss or most likely be at Lakeside near to Stansted airport
  16. Richly deserved title for Tai who has become a real treasure to the sport with his attitude on and off the track and the help of a great back up team. Now the sport has not only a British World Champion but also someone that can easily be marketed to the youngsters who are into the BMX or Skateboard fraternity who love sports with a touch of danger but in style too Well Done Tai and all his family and crew.
  17. Amazing achievement by Tai Woffinden to win the World Title in 2013 when the Grand Prix had the strongest line up ever and to make the top 8 would have been the target back in March. Fully deserved for the way Tai has worked on and off the track and to overcome the injuries and ride through the pain barrier. With the GP's, Wroclaw and now Sweden in 2014, Tai will no doubt be lining up with Wolverhampton too but it is going to cost them to keep the new Monster rider next season. With Freddie looking to make changes next season, it may be pay Tai or lose out.
  18. With drastic changes due next season, it will mean all teams having to rebuild and Wolves will almost certainly have to release Tai or Fred and I can't see Tai going anywhere else and Fred will possibly spearhead another team. Coventry would be a good move but if he is in the GPs it may be hard to commit if there are more fixtures. Wolverhampton will have a decent list of assets with low averages to call upon like Aspgren while Thorssell looks to be a star in the making while Ty Proctor hopefully comes back in the form he was showing before the Injury. Wolves will look at bringing in a decent second heat leader and wouldn't be surprised if Bomber made the switch to Monmore Green.
  19. Tai is riding the final round as he wants to win both titles That's the information I received today anyway Thankfully that appears to be wrong and Tai is concentrating on the final GP
  20. Chris Holder is a guaranteed wild card for 2014 and with Iversen now winning the Challenge, 9th place will get in automatically and not Smolinski who finished fourth in the Challenge. The top seven are pretty obvious so it looks like it's between Gollob and Lindgren who gets the last automatic place for next year. Gollob or Lindgren will join Holder as wild cards and Bjerre and Kasprzak have qualified so there is three more wild cards to allocate with Dudek andJepsen Jensen most likely to be given a chance. That leaves just one place left and that will most likely go to another Swedish rider.
  21. Miskowiak can be a match winner or a complete flop and thats in each race not meeting. Certainly a cheaper option than Michelsen, Nermark or Ljung who have been mentioned and time will tell if it works out
  22. The list of riders Wolverhampton have tried to get to replace Ty Proctor is quite long and most if not all have been mentioned at one stage. Why are they still using r/r is not one has agreed to join up but there will be a full team v Belle Vue I'm sure
  23. You have to wait and see who th topic 8 are as a few from the Challenge could be Polish and that could mean the end for Gollob and KK if they don't finish top 8. Sweden may have to choose between Freddie and THJ if Freddie can't overtake Holder and Gollob while Ward and Hancock will be top 8. Emil Sayfutdinov Tai Woffinden Nicki Pedersen Jarek Hampel Greg Hancock Matej Zagar Neils K Iversen and Darcy Ward top 8 with Holder Lindgren and KK or Gollob to join the 3 qualifiers plus o e more wild card is the likely 15 next season in my opinion
  24. The main thing that seems to be that the sport could be taking a dramatic change next year to cut costs especially if the money coming in is cut by Sky not filming. This could see Elite League teams reduced to around 35 points and Premier League teams allowed to strengthen to complete in one big league
  25. So that's 30 point's extra to pay out which could be anywhere around £10, 000 Good plan if you are Richard Branson
