Elite League 2016 - What Is Required?
INCOGNITO replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
For some they don't like Monday with the mad rush between Poland and Sweden but it is the extra flights and meetings added on Wednesday or Thursday or Friday that burns them out and affects their scoring and earnings elsewhere. Woffinden has stated he would be looking for one night a week and we already have Iversen Holder Ward Lindgren etc that have been here already. I am sure you would see the big names return even if it's for half the time and while it would mean possibly a £20 fee it would be value for money when you look at the prices for the ELRC or other big events. It would be beneficial to have an Elite League that is strong but overall British Speedway needs to concentrate on regular speedway at a lower level and price in most cases -
Elite League 2016 - What Is Required?
INCOGNITO replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The Elite League needs to survive as it is a platform for riders to either achieve or get extra meetings by doubling up. However drastic changes are required but it needs the Elite and Premier League to work with each other in order to get British Speedway on a more secure footing for the future. The Elite League needs to either be made bigger to create more fixtures and more frequent home meetings than the 14 at present over a 30 week period or it has to go Mondays only and encourage big names to rerun as part of a so called squad system. There is suggestions saying tracks could then compete in both leagues to create a squad and more consistent home fixture list. This however needs to be with Elite tracks also fielding a team of Premier League strength and not like before getting the others to improve. It could work but would fans only be interested in the big meetings and cut down on matches they attend ? Maybe they would but it could go the opposite way and be just what is required to get British Speedway back in the present day. It appears that many are now thinking the Elite League should finish and all be in one big league again and that would give variety of different opposition. However with the Elite League using the current format riders like Lindgren Andersen and Bjerre could be used and that would see current Elite League tracks dominating the results with such riders. Whichever way it goes it needs stripping back and rebuilding from scratch if it is to continue or improve the service offered to the paying public -
Musielak is going to be a bargain next season for Wolves and available for every match as long as he can get his arm injury mended properly. The rest depends on how much loyalty they give to club assets instead of new faces

Wolverhampton Vs King's Lynn- Monday 3 August
INCOGNITO replied to scottrocks's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Kings Lynn did well last night and only silly mistakes cost them a point from this one. Iversen letting Thorssell through in heat one and Branford letting Clegg catch him in heat 12 before falling under pressure. Plus Milik losing control and flipping his bike and lucky to see the bike land just to the side of his head. Wolves made a few mistakes too like Thorssell hitting the tapes and Musielak injuring his arm again winning his third ride but the one mistake Kings Lynn did was heat 13 and not getting Morris to touch the tapes enabling Iversen to be off gate 2 instead of 4 against Lindgren and Karlsson. Overall Kings Lynn got 8 from Lambert rides and overall just ran short in the end to a more consistent team -

I think calling the meeting off now would be appropriate for Kings Lynn and the sport -

Best wishes to Lewis Kerr. -
Garrity may be in their top five next season but this season he will be at reserve till the end There are a few good youngsters coming up from the Grasstrack scene and hopefully they will be encouraged to ride in a series of races together

There is little interest in assets these days in speedway as riders have proved they can move clubs each season if they wish as it goes to the committee and they won't stop a rider earning a living and approve a loan deal. If you look at Fredrik Lindgren finishing with an average around 6.95 then the need would be for two riders like him or better that can be heat leaders home and away under most formats. Will Hans Andersen fit in at Coventry next season when Garrity is likely to be in the main body of the team along with Bomber ? If he is then Kylmakorpi (Freddie s best friend) would be available also around 7 a meeting average. The same could be said of Bjerre or Schlein at King's Lynn or Magic, Darcy and Holder at Poole or maybe riders that haven't taken part fully in 2015. Linus Sundstrom or Kenni Larsen or Shamek Pawlicki or Peter Kildemand. Maybe Batchelor at Swindon due to the improvement of Nick Morris could be available. Whoever it could be selling assets won't do anything and neither will buying unless it's a British prospect and then an asset may be used as part payment as Coventry did to get Garrity with Kennett going to Rye House.

Swindon have put together a very strong team and on paper they were much stronger than Wolves and that proved to be the case on the track as well. Zengota may have a GSA of just 5.62 but he is averaging over 8 a meeting here and in Poland and should not be underestimated. What Wolves fans forget or don't realise is that he used to come to Monmore Green before Swindon ever approached him as he rode at Zielona Gora with Freddie and came across quite a few Mondays.

Lindgren ?Pedersen ? Wells ? Musielak ? Thorssell ? Klindt ? Proctor ? There are some good assets at the club but no one is likely to be buying them when they are not interested in riding here or as Poole showed can be loaned even if there owners want to sell. Next year is a different matter and until the rules are set and the format worked out we can say who would be worth keeping and who wouldn't but on a 6 plus average Lindgren has to be back as he is much better than that and will prove it if the format is better The post you are referring to doesn't say the team has done well but simply points out that once again riders are signed hoping they can improve or hold their own in a position they are not strong enough for. David Howe for example was a credit to the club but got ridiculed by the fans because he wasn't being the heat leader he was signed as even when he went well. At the time too much pressure was on him to score double figures when in reality he should have been the third heat leader and not the second. He struggled in the big heats 13 and 15 but still averaged over 7 as he often got 8 from his first three rides but suddenly came up against top class riders. It's a matter of balance and getting the right people for the right position just as Lewis Hamilton isnt going to be Fi Champion in a Vauxhall Corsa.

It is unlikely any significant team changes will take place this season as there is not the riders available to make the team suddenly unbeatable and the fact is that most are doing what was expected of them in ways. Freddie may not be scoring like he used to but that is the case too with Kenneth Bjerre and others under the format being used and while he may be the rider that isn't doing what was expected, you still see him as a bargain on an average going under seven points. PK started like a youngster as a second string but as a heat leader he is finding it difficult to score now. He was signed as a second string and has increased his average but that is getting below seven soon. Ricky has possibly been the best of the team so far but most of this was as a second string and since becoming a heat leader he has had a few poor meetings but at Monmore he is still doing well. Jacob like Ricky and PK has struggled as the third heat leader and now is doing well at number two and his average is moving back towards his starting average of 6.25 week by week. As for Tobiasz Musielak he has struggled in every league he is riding in but bit by bit he is getting there and he has the potential to be a strong asset in the future and finishing the season at number four could see him finish strong. At the end of the day you can't say they are not performing but simply put in a position that was not suited to their strengths of being second strings asked to perform like superstars. It is unlikely that they will reach the play offs this season so they may just let them ride for a place in 2016 but only in the right position if this format stays

Wolverhampton Wolves Vs Poole Pirates 20/07/2015
INCOGNITO replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wolves have relied too much on home form in recent years and at present under this ridiculous format they are not strong enough to challenge a top heavy team like Poole who will clearly be looking for at least three points here. Maciej has had a few poor rides at Monmore Green but has also had some good ones too and his confidence is sky high at the moment and top of the averages while Holder looks like his old self again each meeting he rides in . Watt and North have both done well in the past while Newman and Stark have both been neigh unbeatable around here in the past and should be looking at 5-1 wins in both reserve races. If it goes to form it will be about 38-52 but I can see Wolves making a fight of it and making it 46-44 either way -
Kings Lynn may be missing two key figures but r/r should be adequate for Milik and Fricke is no slow coach compared to the current state of form of the Wolves team. So they have switched the heat leaders around to try and get them firing which is a bit like a vet moving the legs of lamb around in a butchers to bring it back to life. PK v Iversen heat one will be ideal for the veteran to start the night after only one point in Sweden last night. Wells and Karlsson may be useful as second strings but even this weakened team of Kings Lynn should be too strong for Wolves but the performance of Thorssell recently and Musielak possibly looking forward to a big track Wolves could surprise a few. Home win by 10 or more

What a stupid comment Belle Vue cancelled because of it

Nicki back in Britain = Unlikely Nicki back at Wolverhampton = Easier to collect Rocking Horse manure Nicki and Freddie together = Priceless Name as many GP riders as you like but they are not interested in Britain as it is and wages would be too much any way. More likely to pick up ex GP riders like Andersen or Batchelor (if he misses the cut) but they need to get more strength in the top end and hope the format changes to the old 2013 one or a new balanced set up with less protection on lower riders

Should Rosco Still Be Team Gb Manager
INCOGNITO replied to robert72's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
TEAM GB MANAGER A person employed to select and work with the best people he feels suited for a team place from those eligible to be selected. SWINDON TEAM MANAGER A person employed for the on track management of the team to ensure all are doing well and as long as they are eligible to be selected he will choose the best line up that is made available to him regardless of nationality. Team changes however are to be done by the owners promoters and management in order to field the best line up possible. Would say it is unlikely to affect Howarth as Coventry are likely to add him to the line up soon it appears -
I would have thought Howarth was more likely but Rosco seems to be pretty close to Kyle having him at Coventry Swindon and Team GB. While I like Zengota I don't think either of them would rejuvenate the fortunes of the team this season unless there was more than one change. Kildemand is now in the GP series following Hampel injury so Piotr Pawlicki (still only 20) is next in line and unlikely to want to ride here this season. Of the big names only Emil Sayfutdinov would be the signing that could be the difference but even though he is not in the GP's now he has plenty of meetings in other competitions. Artem Laguta is another and rides with Freddie but would he be available ,
-
Grzegorz Zengota could be the rider left out of the Swindon team to accommodate Darcy Ward
-
After the Kildemand incident the cameras were on him in the pits and he looks into the camera and says "No contact what so ever" He watches the replay and is interviewed "Yes there was contact but he lifts his leg and goes down too easy" He straightened up bringing Kildemand down but the Doyle incident earlier to me was when Doyle had made the pass. Cardiff isn't usually his best place but you can be sure he will be in the fight till the time he can't catch Tai Woffinden.

Nicki is the master of mind games and knowledge of how others react. He will ride hard against some and over the limits at others and if he can get them rattled it works in his favour. On and off the track Nicki makes as much advantage towards himself as he can and the crowd reactions with the booing gives him the adrenaline rush others may get from the cheers and air horns.

Having riders winning races was always going to be a problem with the team that was put together and unless you can get riders in that can do that or score away then nothing will change. Tobiasz and Jacob as second strings will do a decent job especially at home for Jacob but can you see Ricky and PK as a heat 15 partnership against Andersen and Harris or Ward and Batchelor or Holder and Janowski. Tough call and a hard job finding riders required on the night Wolves race on
-
Kasprzak was an example but surely he would in current form score more away than Thorssell and also signing a rider like him would keep Wells at number four
-
If Wolverhampton lose this match it could be the end of the season for the play offs unless changes are made pretty sharp as new averages are out on July 1st and Wolves need riders that can score away from home. Lindgren has been a shadow of the rider we know he can be while Thorssell just can't get points away while his home form is not in question. They need to keep Wells as a second string and moves to 6.40 next week. Museliak however needs one away meeting to get a new average around five and with Wells can be a good second string especially as Leszno are not using him at the moment. No Wolves rider was picked in Poland yesterday at all. The trouble is that Lindgren, Karlsson, Wells and Musielak on a new average leaves around 8 points for the last place which could point to Kasprzak or Lindback as possible new signings if they are to look at the play offs win or lose here. Wolves can win this one but won't be by much and may need a bit of luck as Coventry will be strong in every race and on current form should win by heat 14.

Heard a weird one from a rider who has been a regular Elite League rider and doubled up but at present is only doing the Premier league. He was told that if he stays out of the Elite League this year then he can start next season as a Fast Track reserve which apparently even he thought was crazy. Could we get to see the likes of Lewis Bridger or Ben Barker as FOR ?

Kyle Howarth back at Coventry ?
