Wolves V Rye House - 24th April 17
INCOGNITO replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Bomber and Nicholls are track specialists at Monmore Green and Lindgren and Thorssell will be tested by those two while Kennett and Robson have both had good battles and scores here and of course Ricky knows the track better than most and while he has been poor so far, Max Clegg will come good in the end and that could start tonight. Wolves could just shake off the challenge but it wouldn't be a suprise to see all three points heading south. Should be a cracking meeting and good battles. -
When a team has completed FOUR home meetings and FOUR away meetings the riders are given new averages derived from these eight meetings. The points limit is then lowered to the correct 42.00 and as you will see, most riders averages will drop as they are currently set at the second levels ability (2016 Premier League) Any new signings in the Premiership will come in on their 2016 Elite League average or if they don't have one it will be their Premier League average divided by 1.4. If they join a Championship team, they stay on their PL average which means a rider like David Howe could join for example, Redcar on 6.72 or Swindon on 4.80. With Wolves having ridden a number of matches already, when they reach their eight meetings, Schlein and Riss should see their averages revert to old Elite League averages which would be 5.12 and 3.00 (could be 2.85 to be precise). If a rider misses one or more of the first eight meetings it is unsure what they will do and there already has been questions about the bargain riders like Klindt and Bjerre missing a meeting. They could revert to their old EL averages or maybe only for team building purposes but if they kept their original starting average, they could only be replaced by a rider using their converted EL average. Therefore as an example, Nicolai Klindt is on 5.42 and misses a meeting. He either reverts to his 6.36 EL average or stays on 5.42 but that in effect is only a 3.88 EL average so couldn't be replaced by a rider on a new 5.41 average. Hope that clears it up some what but as usual to an outsider and even many inside its still confusing to many and mistakes will be made using different sets of averages as it has been already more than once. As for the changes at Wolves, it's a shame they didn't let Skornicki do his eight meetings as he was heading towards a sub four average and at reserve on his new engine should have been a real strong point. His final meeting was poor and was so far off the pace the kids after the meetings looked quicker. Hope he gets back on track and shows as he did at Rye House he can still score well. Rory is another on a bargain average and is in effect on a 5.12 average (7.17 converted) and is a much better rider than that and has performed well at most tracks over the years either for them, as a guest or a visitor. As for Max leaving and Riss in, well Max has struggled but like Adam, if he was on a 2.00 average and at number seven he might find it a little easier but Mark Riss is coming on nicely and is worth a gamble and would be good if he was one day followed by his brother. Rye House next to Monmore and the inclusion of Ricky Wells in their team makes it an even better night where anything could happen with a visiting team full of WV2 track specialists over the years.
-
But Belle Vue, Rye House and Poole aren't on the East coast Reserves were the weak point again last night but the only remedy of this is one of three options. Hope they get better and leave as they are or replace like for like and hope to find a promising reserve like Bewley or Shanes but most of these are already signed up. The third option is to make two changes to get a more capable reserve to get points but this would mean having to axe one of the top five which is where all the pressure is on with 40 of the 41 points coming from those last night,. See how it goes for a bit and then look again but Leicester at Monmore on Monday and Josh Bates is flying so going to be hard stopping him.
-
Lebedevs was always a gamble especially for a weekend club but overall the switch to King and Bates has made Leicester much stronger and good to see two Brits getting team places.

Rye House V Wolverhampton Sat 1st April
INCOGNITO replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Should be a comfortable home win for Rye House as they have built a strong top five with vast experience and while both teams have young reserves, the Wolves pairing look vulnerable away from home to say the least and that could be a concern for the defending champions all season. In Lindgren and Masters they have two riders who should go well here and Thorssell has certainly improved his away form and progressed into a decent heat leader who should form a strong top three but this is possibly the strongest test they will have all season so to come here first may be a bit early in the campaign for them. Much of the Wolves season will depend on the second strings of Skornicki and Howarth and both showed signs of strength in the PK Farewell meeting but also signs of weakness and Wolves will need these to be testing and beating Watt and Robson which is going to be hard to do on home soil. Rockets 53 Wolves 39 my prediction but on their second visit it could be tighter. -
He has a link on the Favebook page for the event that allows you to buy online. Would you cancel your holiday or honeymoon which was booked last year before this event was given a date ? If you don't know why a rider isn't there, don't guess but as you want to let's ask why when PK spent seasons at Lakeside, Belle Vue, Kings Lynn and Peterborough why there is no mention of Cook or Chapman etc there today ?
-
What have they got to aspire to here over the last twenty years or so ? Teams have not wanted to move up or go down and clubs like Ipswich, Lakeside, Peterborough etc have switched when they wanted without having to aspire or win anything. No team has been relegated, they just choose to drop down and this season we are not seeing two clubs move up, we are seeing the other six come down to their standard. Plus you would have two divisions in the National League and hopefully a league running alongside just for juniors to develop into NL teams by running after meeting team events like they did in the 80's over six heats using four riders per team. Be they British, Australian or from Mexico, if they get to a standard where they opt to ride in just Sweden and Poland then fine, hold the door open and let them go but until then build a product that hopefully one day is again the place riders want to be based in even if it is their second choice.
-
In 2018 Poland intend on having riders commit to them an just one other league and wanted to do this for the forthcoming season but then added the words "and your home nation" to the agreement meaning a Danish rider can do Sweden, Poland and Denmark where as a Swede can do Britain rather than Denmark. The issue now is that they allowed Australian riders to count Britain as their home nation meaning the likes of Doyle, Holder, Fricke, Masters, Watt etc can continue to ride in Britainthis season which is nice of them as they knew full well they needed a year to get over the visa issues if any Australian wants to ride in Poland for 2018. Doyle and Holder would have had to applied through Sweden or Poland for a work permit and also be based there so the agreement adding your home nation has given the likes of Doyle and Holder a year to get things sorted for 2018. In future any rider that wants to ride here be it from America or Australia can still apply and get a Visa but by doing so must commit to this country and not be under pressure from Poland to be at every press and practice event. We have Robert Lambert coming through nicely at the moment and next season he could continue to ride here but be assured he is likley to soon be in the same boat and have to choose between Sweden and Britain as would any rider that progresses to a standard where they are ready to take on the world or at least the countries Poland allows them to invade.

Flicking through a few posts on here, a few things need clearing up as some are looking at it wrong or based on old facts. PAY Yes Poland has had many many problems in the past with wages not being paid, but that is something they have dealt with especially in the top level and clubs have to pay in a substantial amount at the start to ensure this never happens again. With the big TV deal now in place, big sponsors and vast media interest there these tracks can't afford to lose their licence and if so many riders were owned money in the past, how come they go back year after year. With these big money investments now in Polish Speedway, they do have practice days where they are all expected to turn up but remember that these can also be attended by media and sponsors so they are quite important to these clubs Britain and Sweden at present have far more clubs owing money than Poland where it is now lower level clubs and they are coming into line or risk being shut down. RETHINK British Speedway wanted to rebuild this season and certainly needed to as it was known last year that Poland had plans to restrict riders being involved with other leagues and this is going to be even tighter next season by all accounts so they do their home nation or one other league alongside their Polish clubs so Swedes and Danes will have to decide on Britain or Poland. If this is the case, will Doyle and Holder opt to ditch Sweden rather than Britain next season, well that depends if they can relocate and get Poland to apply for their visas but do they want their kids educated in Poland rather than England ? This season Britain really needed to seriously rebuild and develop new stars and by doing that you would have to say there is no places for any Grand Prix riders like Doyle, Holder and Lindgren. That is a bit harsh on Freddie who has always been loyal to Britain and Wolverhampton for over a decade but it needs riders available every Friday and Saturday and in doing so you have seen the last of the big money riders that Britain can't really afford. Any Australian or Visa required riders should only be allowed if they are committing to Britain, something Doyle and Holder couldn't do as they have bigger contracts in Poland and Sweden and in 2018 those will be the only leagues they will be allowed to ride in any way going by Polands plan to reduce riders to just two leagues next season. This season should have been a year to rebuild and ride in one big league as teams would have been Premier League 2016 strengths and therefor not have cost clubs like Redcar, Scunthorpe or Workington any more than they had been paying out and would have had the benefit of a more varied fixture list and got the chance to see the likes of Harris, Nicholls, Andersen etc in action just once at their local tracks which would have been a meeting you didn't want to miss. Let's get 2017 done, learn by the plus sides of the changes made and how to build one league in 2018 which will likley be without a few more riders that have to drop England to stay active in Seeden or Denmark alongside Poland.
-
Do the Australian riders get their Visas because they are based in Britain. YES So what would happen if Britain said that these people are not working for us and going missing. Would they lose their visas and if they did then Poland or Sweden wouldn't be able to use them just as we wouldn't. If Australian and other countries want to get permits to race here or in Poland then they need to be based where their priorities are. Doyle and Chris Holder would without doubt apply to Poland to be based there while the rest will stay in Britain until they reach that level which could happen soon with Fricke and Masters improving each year. Difficult situation and blame can't be put on the riders in many ways as they are simply trying to earn a living but the way it's going any rider that rides in the top league in Poland won't be riding here or vica versa

Peterborough V Coventry Challenge 19th Match 12pm
INCOGNITO replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Or the Peter Karlsson Farewell at Monmore Green that will be packed -
Fully understand Matt Fords stance on this issue, especially as Jack is listed as a standby reserve in Poland so has no known fixtures at present and unlikely to get many meetings unless they suffer injuries. However in Poland they expect riders to turn up for practice sessions and media appearances and failing to do so can result in losing their contracts. For most riders these contracts make up half of their income through the season as the wages for 14 Polish meetings is about the same as 30 meetings in Britain plus in Poland there are more lucrative sponsors. Also the new TV deal in Poland is considerably bigger than the one British Speedway has and therefore clubs need commitment from their riders. If this was the other way around, I'm sure Britain would be asking the same commitment so while it may be a problem for tracks here and pressure on the riders, it's understandable why this clubs in Poland are doing what they are doing. One thing that is in Matt Fords statement however rings true and little is pointed out about it. Jack Holder along with Doyle, Holder and Masters all get visas to ride here and this gives them the base to ride elsewhere. Australian riders have been the backbone of British Speedway from day one and if being in Britain is so important to them riding in Europe then maybe next year something needs putting in place with the authorities to ensure Britain gets rights as the main employer of these riders otherwise they would need to get themselves based in Sweden or Poland.
-
Just beat Sky Sports in the bidding for the Champions League football and had enough lose change to get the Speedway too. Who will they get to present it ?
-
Premiership revert back to Elite averages and Championship to Premier averages.

BIG NAMES - Yes Britain has lost the big names in the sport for many reasons like not moving with the times, no fixed race nights, no investment (inside and out) and the list can go on. We are left with Doyle and Holder you say, well I think Andersen, Kasprzak, Lindgren and a few others are top riders but apart from Lindgren, they don't have the GP's which is the future for riders of that standard. Why have Doyle and Holder stayed here ? Could it be they have a base here and to stay there they need a visa so must ride in Britain. Maybe that's all that's keeping those two here as they have had Britain as their main home for the last decade or so. You can't blame them and if they want to rush around different tracks on different race nights then fair play to them but Britain should have made the call for them and not allowed any rider in with an EL average above eight this season. The Championship shouldn't have riders over a six but can understand they want to race more meetings and to do so they have to race in both leagues but this should have been done in a way to ensure British riders on now high averages like Harris, Kennett, Nicholls, Worrall etc were sorted first. This however wouldn't have been a problem if they had set averages to Elite League levels and done one big league giving a good set of fixtures, more variety, regular team members and no double sets of averages which will be the case come mid season again. A decent standard large league that develops British riders and done for £15 would be a product that could be sold better that what we have now and makes no speedway followers baffled at how things work in the sport. So is it value for money, at present I would say no but had there have been a more stable list of riders and no star names then it could be but it missed the boat again and the changes made with good intentions are about to be exposed as another fine mess you have got into
-
Remember that once new averages are out, David Howe would be available on 4.80 rather than 6.72 and that will make him an attractive signing for most teams but I think he would love to ride for Leicester as his home town.

BELLE VUE ** 1-3 Cook, Fricke, S Worrall 4-5 Sedgeman, ? 6-7 Bewley, Smith Going on this being something like what is being talked about, they have a good top two with two good back up riders. Both reserves are exciting 17 year olds who have big potential and if the last signing can hold down a second string position they should be near the top again. PLAY-OFFS -- Yes COVENTRY 1-3 King, K Bjerre, Garrity 4-5 L Bjerre, L Kerr Res. Bates, Sarjeant. Kenneth Bjerre is a bargain and Bates should improve but this looks one of the weakest teams and surprised they didn't bring Woryna back. Bleak and cold off season will be followed damp summer with a few light signs of sun. PLAY-OFFS -- No KINGS LYNN 1-3 Holder, Lambert, Batchelor 4-5. Porsing, Rose Res. Huckenbeck, Bailey Possibly the strongest top three if on form but look to be too reliant on that trio and should struggle away. PLAY-OFFS - Not this time LEICESTER 1-3. Nilsson, Wolbert, Lebedevs 4-5. Gomolski, Auty Res. E Riss, Ayres Having a strong reserve won't save them from a poor season ahead but there should be some entertainment if Lebedevs and Gomolski show their true form. PLAY OFFS -- No way POOLE PIRATES 1-3. Kaspazak, Andersen, B Kurtz 4-5. J Holder, Newman Res.. Klindt, Shanes. Year after year you can put Poole down as favourites and this is a solid line up all the way down and will always have a great reserve. PLAY OFFS -- YES RYE HOUSE 1-3. Kennett, Harris, Nicholls 4-5. Watt, Robson Res. Branford, Perks Very strong top five and a great potential reserve. Long with Poole they look contenders from the start. PLAY OFFS -- YES SOMERSET 1-3. Tungate, Grajczonek, Hougaard 4-5. Wright, Starke Res. Allen, Gravesen Looks weak and no real fire power but it's a solid line up which could suprise a few but not enough to challenge. PLAY OFFS -- No SWINDON 1-3. Doyle, Morris, Ellis 4-5. Bellego, BWD Res. Grondal, Wajtneck Having one of the best riders in the world in Doyle won't make them contenders as they look to have little back up. PLAY OFFS -- No WOLVERHAMPTON 1-3. Lindgren, Masters, Thorssell 4-5. Howarth, Skornicki Res. Clegg, Greaves Defending Champions who have recalled five of last years team despite the lowering of the limit. In effect they have replaced Woffinden and Karlsson for Skornicki and Greaves and both will be key figures to their fortunes. Great top three. PLAY OFFS -- Yes Belle Vue, Poole, Rye House and Wolves look the best four with Kings Lynn the main threat.
-
Wrong about why he quit Team GB and if you knew what was happening behind the scenes over the last twelve months at least then you wouldn't make comments like that again. Robert Lambert will out grow British Speedway one day and who knows about the National team as he had to ride on a German licence to get where he is today in the first place. As for never riding again for your country, did you refer to Simon Wigg, Marvyn Cox, Andy Smith and others that took out foreign licences and dropped England (as it was then) and more recently Scott Nicholls.
-
It's not the fastest starters but the ones with the stamina to do a sprint finish so best to judge who is where come August or September but at present Poole, Rye House and Wolverhampton look the best three and Belle Vue should be strong even if they are not recalling some of the stars of last season in Worrall and Jacobs. Be interesting to see if the riders considered to be on bargain averages like Bjerre, Batchelor and Klindt manage to complete their first eight fixtures otherwise they will be stuck on their modest average while the others are reduced to a more realistic average. Poole could benefit most from this with the big top two dropping a few points, Klindt staying on 5.42 and then either Kurtz returns or replaced with a new signing.
-
Isn't he an Edinburgh asset so therefore free to talk to other tracks while Aces assets (whoever owns them at the moment) would have to be approached only if given permission by their owners/promoters (whoever they might be) No doubt Aces are looking at keeping Cook and Fricke as the top two but I think something should have been done to get this not hanging on til weeks to go and maybe the BSPA could have appointed someone to have assembled a team like Jan Staechmann for example as an independent advisor ready for those coming in to run with and adapt to once they take over hopefully before the first meeting
-
Not going to read through all the posts will will react to the first two on this subject and in the first post, it is not up to Wolverhampton or any club to say we should drop a rider for a British rider, especially when that rider rode for that team last season. So while I understand the original intention of the post, surely it's more fitting to name Poole and Kasprzak or Coventry and Bjerre or Kings Lynn and Holder who have bought in NEW signings that are foreigners ahead of Lawson. Then of course you have Leicester who waited and waited and then name a Swede at number one but not Lawson who rode for them in the past or for that matter Worrall, Bridger etc that they could have named instead so the original post needs changing to tracks that are bringing in Newcforeign signings ahead of Lawson, Worrall etc. Plus Belle Vue have yet to name their team but if Fricke is included that's another ahead of the league champions that could have been more aptly named first. Yes the British riders should have been looked after more and quite frankly while each track has to name two British riders, this should have been from the six team members with the number seven being a Fast a Track National League rider. You have to ask though why riders are being bought in ahead of some British riders and the decision to allow doubling up riders continue to dominate teams, the best option for the long term of British Speedway should have been more beneficial to have cut out the big earners and GP stars and bring in ONE big league consisting of more fixtures and riders committed to riding here. Britain has been treading water for years using the life jacket filled with Sky money but while they have paid out big wages and high running costs, how many owners and promoters do you see that don't turn up in new cars with private number plates or go home to a two bed semi in the local town. If they lose so much money each season then get out, shut the sport down and switch the lights off on the way out OR run it at a level that befits the income from crowd levels, sponsorships and TV rights and do it to benefit the home grown riders that one day may be good enough to say Bye Bye Britain I'm off to conquer the World and Poland in the big money races. But until then, develop the riders, develop the tracks and teams and make it a clear profitable sport for all so we can all be broke in private registered cars.
-
If the topic is about Wolves then anyone has the freedom to post on this page just as it is on the Poole or Coventry pages and anyone should be free to post their views and opinions here. Wolves have a good team to defend their title, maybe a few concerns lower down but as we all see changes are made to teams through the season and this year could be more important now we no longer have rolling averages and current false figures.
-
He would be a heat leader even with his 8+ old PL average that he is using at Glasgow. Instead of Cook, Fricke, Worrall, Worrall or Zagar as only three or at best four of those will be back at the Aces so why would they want King after one good performance on a wet track.
-
Don't think Mr Skornicki is here to make up the numbers or to get the odd point. He left Britain injured in 2014 riding as a #1 and has time after time been under rated but still comes up with match winning rides. He may be up with Watt but can't see Porsing being much more than a second string / reserve in that team with 4-6 swapping and changing. DUDLEY WOOD - Great race track and held some classic meetings with great racing but it was a dump and buildings all but falling down like that barn thing that was on the back straight for years. It will be remembered for two good things being the race track and the Pork Butties but not the stadium / terraces / waste ground. That said, it would be better having that now than having to ground share at two different tracks and little hope of finding a new home even though money has been raised for years to help find a venue. Do they have finances in the bank to help build or is that all gone and need new investment ?
