The only way forward is to rebuild at a more financial realistic figure and one big league set at Championship level but using Premiership averages and a limit somewhere around 33 to 37 depending on what they do for reserves. Best option is to have both reserves being British under 21 riders or National League riders as 18 tracks would give 36 riders the luxury of reserve births and all British. No foreign rider should have an average lower than 4.00 and any rider on 3.99 or lower and British under 21 riders should be allowed to compete in the National League and be eligible for a reserve berth. If there is 18 teams, that leaves 90 places to find and there are enough riders to fill those places especially with new Danes, Swedes, Americans etc all looking to come over and a 35 point limit would be a decent figure for the likes of Redcar or Berwick to compete alongside Belle Vue and Wolverhampton on an equal footing.

2018 threads really are a waste of time until it's clear what happens at the AGM and what restrictions Poland have in place over riders but to start one in July is crazy. Kacper Woryna signed or next season which is a good move and on a low average, wouldn't be surprised to see Kyke Newman and James Shanes back but the rest is pure speculation at the moment.

These 2018 threads start way to early as we don't know which way the league is going to head and who will be running it, we have BSPA members being suspended, the Chairman banning riders and now cleared and so many mistakes through the year that they finally have to admit Britain needs drastic changes and if truth be told ones big league would cure most of the problems. Too many riders now doubling up which means more guests and RR being used and due to the wrong set of averages used at the start of the season, we saw young Brits suddenly looking for work elsewhere if possible. Sarjeant, Jacobs, Bates etc all had difficulty getting jobs in their own country. The only riders that should double up are National League riders and if all tracks had both reserves as National League riders it would give possibly 40 youngsters a chance to progress and not be replaced by a higher grade rider or a foreigner on a low average which also needs looking at. We don't know rules, limits, leagues etc etc so next years team plans can't really start yet. Then we have to see if Lindgren and Thorssell will be fit for next even and the same for Lindgren plus if Poland only allow riders to do two leagues both would be Unlikley to ride here. Agree than Nathan Greaves deserves another slot as he progressed during the season and has finished comfortably picking up points in most races and on the pace, plus he is still very young which people forget as he seems to have been around for ages. Rory Schlein has admitted he is loving it at Wolverhampton and finally feels like he has found a home while Kyle and Sam also love being there but belong to other clubs and having one league would surely see them back with their parent clubs. Then of course we face the possibility that Wolves could be under new owners next season as CVS has been having serious health issues and is looking to step down while Peter Adams is also at an age where he is cutting down on his own work and it's due to these two that Wolvesvhave been the successful team they have been after over 30 years at the helm. Let's see what the AGM brings and anything else in the coming months before formulating possible teams that in the end don't fit.

Freddie was on fire during this meeting and had the line going into turn three. Bjerre was going to challenge on the inside and Freddie took that line first but both touched and that caused the accident and as Freddie was in front then rightfully the incoming rider was excluded for causing the race stoppage but it was just a racing accident. A number of Belle Vue fans have commented about the bad behaviour of some Aces fans on here and social media and obviously some will know who it was throwing bottles at riders and name them to the club. We all want to win, but when you lose the true test of a Champion is to congratulate the winner which is not done much here. Through out both legs there were moments that cost both teams points but that can be said in many matches and had Swindon have not had their bit of luck in some matches, they wouldn't have finished top. So you just have to take things on the chin and carry on and now it's Swindon v Wolves for the title and Wolves v Aces in the cup. Not going to be the same without your top two but hopefully a decent showing from the guests and two finals that are close meetings. Bomber for the play offs and maybe Nick Morris in the cup ?

It's a shocking state and fair play to CVS for coming out and amazingly admitting that the sport has become embarrassing when these things happen and coming from the best man in the business and someone that will back British Speedway all the way. it's a showing of how the low this has gone and even the die hards are waking up to the fact the sport has to change but will they make drastic and needed changes ? Unlikley

This could go either way really as each rider is hard to estimate their score. Will Bjerre be a number one, Will Fricke be back to his best as struggled so far, Will Cook be 333 or 111 and much the same for the Wolves team. Hopefully the first leg is somewhere between 8-10 points difference at the end and make it a close finish at Wolves. Wolves have a great home record but Aces have a good away record too. 91-89 either way

Lindgren staying at Rybnik if they remain in the top flight otherwise will be moving on to Torun or Grudziadz most likely. Robert Lambert possible for Wroclaw to join Tai Woffinden but could he be on a Polish licence

Kings Lynn Vs Wolves ( Double Header) 23.08,17
INCOGNITO replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Going into a double header with rider replacement in the team should ring alarm bells and have a rider on standby if required and not have to rely on someone who happens to be there and lives locally. No number eights anymore is understandable but to have a standby is something that needs putting in place for the future. Had that NL rider have not been available, the last meeting couldn't have started as they would have only got three riders available which isn't allowed. Yes there was some crashes and knocks but you get the feeling not many are to keen to be at Kings Lynn these days and that's something Chapman wanted to put right but it looks to have got worse and his position as Chairman has to be questioned after the last month of business. With Poland throwing their weight about and providing a very strong top league, Britain has to say enough is enough at trying to play ot a high level just isn't working and we need to get rid of the big names and GP riders and rebuild with rides like Josh Bates or Kyle Newman as third heat leaders in one big league which creates different opponents each week, no clash of dates as less doubling up riders and protected reserves giving them a solid starting area. -
Swindon v Rye House / Poole Belle Vue v Wolverhampton Rye House v Wolverhampton final Swindon have been fortunate to have played the weekend teams at the right time and picked up easy points like the win at Leicester and others and think a fully fit Belle Vue, Wolves and a new formed Rye House will see them off and think Wolves will just edge out Belle Vue due to home and away form on each other's tracks. Want to say Wolves to win but Rye House have a team that could cause trouble at Monmore Green and are looking strong in the finish so going to say it will be all down to heat thirty.

Well Done to Rawicz rider Steve Worrall on tonight's performance. Nice to see a rider benefitting from riding abroad.

He has just had his 67th birthday and is as keen as ever in trying to win league and world titles with Wolves and Tai but is slowing down his own work outside of speedway which he puts in long hours. He booked this holiday some time ago and the club had everything organised but sometimes issues outside of the sport take more importance. So in short he isn't that old and there is plenty of life left in the old dog yet and hope he enjoys his time away with his family as next year he may be even busier ..... Hopefully

2018 Grand Prix Venues
INCOGNITO replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Roads, Car Parks, Facilities, Space etc all go against the NSS but the big problem is how much it would cost to put on and certainly be run at a loss Cardiff and Warsaw are brilliant GPs run in massive stadiums and under a roof if required and the man made tracks are now very good. We should be looking at more like this and while the 89 final in Munich was terrible on top of the running track, I'm sure with the way football clubs are now we could see stadiums in Germany, Italy etc coming into the calendar in future years. -
Some seem to have skipped over what it is that Tai actually wanted to do with Team GB and what that would involve. He would finance it all He would have sponsorship for the team He would have a team of crew to work on all aspects for the riders He would be captain but has said he has a person that would be manager ! He would arrange training and fitness days He would have a race track available just for them to train, practice, set ups etc He would set up test matches for all levels Some might say the usual Rubbish about him, but to want to take all this on and run it as a successful business and develop the riders to be the best they can be shows he wants to ride for Team GB and has a passion to do so but under the current set up and the way it's run isn't something that he wants or needs to be a part of.

Just seen Swindon site. Nothing on Wolves
-
EDIT He showed up well away but struggled at Monmore but it's not long ago he was rated as highly as Pawlicki, Zmarzlik and Dudek but lost his way a bit and then struggled once he was 21 and no longer at reserve. Shame to,see him being sold but understand the reasons behind selling

Speedway World Cup 2017
INCOGNITO replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The first event at Kings Lynn wasn't a great advert for the sport but Team GB did a great job with what was in front of them and filled the card with wins and seconds to easily qualify for the final. However had Team GB have been in last nights meeting instead of Denmark, I don't think they would be finalists and at best looking towards Friday's play off. Sweden had a few problems but dominated a tough meeting while Russia relied on the main two but Tarasenko came to the party with some great points. As for Latvia it was mainly Lebedevs but the other points were hard fought for and to get six points from the nominated heats shocked the rest and a well deserved play off place. Got to feel for Denmark after years of dominance in the sport but they no longer have the big names and field a very inconsistent team of riders and when you consider they won five of the twenty races, it was the 13 points from the other 15 races which cost them. They were unlucky to have Jensen pulling up in his fourth ride as it was clearly first bend bunching and should have been all four back. So now we have Russia v Australia in the play off with Latvia a likley third and USA a distant fourth but all credit for getting there and being in the right round as USA and Czech are clearly the two weakest teams of the nine in the competition. The heat format works but have always thought it's slightly wrong which is easily fixed while the rules are getting stupid. Every country picks a squad well in advance, usually ten riders. A week before the competition starts they should name the starting five along with one standby rider and one standby reserve and through the competition can use any of these seven as long as the reserve is one of the under 21 nominations. Should be a good final but who will get Silver ? RUSSIA/AUSTRALIA, SWEDEN or GB -
British clubs signed an agreement that all riders would be given priority for Polish meetings so that can happen with a number of riders. However Pawel hasn't been going great and has been left out a few times as Torun try and find a winning team but keep failing. An under 21 year old is like gold in Poland as they can be bought in at any time which was the problem with Pawlicki when he was at Wolves as Leszno were in the play offs and Wolves were struggling so they kept him there instead of risking him being injured here in a pointless meeting. Good in theory but with Poland restricting riders to just one other league next season, there will be a few riders leaving these shores and any investment in signing a rider is a gamble. Except Jorgensen has a 6.3 average and would of thought Pawel would be at least seven and given the chance could be a decent signing if he does want to gain extra meetings here.
-
Sheffield v Redcar on Thursday, so Kyle Howarth will be missing at Swindon won't he ? Charles Wright (maximum tonight) or Justin Sedgeman (scoring well now) must be the best guests available and both ex Swindon riders and Paul Starke at reserve. Should be capable of running them close but will Doyle get through the GP safely with his broken foot.
-
Ever thought about averages ? How do you bring into the team leading the league table a rider on 6.31 (Newman) for a rider on 4.00 (Riss) when you only have 0.43 to play with Ryan Douglas was a 7+ rider at the start of the season but has a new Championship average under six which means he could be used while Ashley Morris has a new average in the Championship also under six and both these should be eligible to come in as short term replacements.

BAD POINTS Track had no real substance to the surface and was very much a loose and fine material obviously baked in the sun previously and not enough water used earlier to soak into the base. Watering tracks like this doesn't produce grip but just a slippery loose surface and less dust clouds. It needs more substance in the material like a clay compound to bed it together and produces more grip and a more consistent surface. In Slovenia the track wasn't much and here again in a country that has very little speedway this all star line up has to use a sub standard track and would much rather see rounds put in Germany, Italy or maybe even organise another GP here and use a football stadium during the close season. GOOD POINTS The entertainers and youth are running riot while the old boys are getting pushed aside and it's so hard to pick a winner. Magic, Dudek and Pawlicki were clearly the best three on the night and deserve the trophies. Eight points now seperate the top eight and you can be sure Zmarzlik will improve on his position and who from those nine will be crowned Champion is unsure. A few nasty crashes and hopefully they will all be back riding soon but expect a few to be missing today in Poland but back to a decent track in two weeks time in Prague.

Swindon have had a few suprise wins but they are no match for this current Wolves team and the way Freddie is going plus Jacobs home form they will do well to hit 30 and no doubt Doyle will get a good percentage of that. Yes he can beat Freddie but I can't see him winning all his races and Adam Ellis may be his only back up as he has done well at Monmore before. Wolves will hit 60 here unless they have bad luck.

Wolves V King's Lynn 1st May 6.00 Pm
INCOGNITO replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Still hungry Apart from Lambert Kings Lynn offered very little and using Holder as a tactical ride against Sclein and Thorssell around Monmore they obviously got confused between May 1st and April 1st. On a day where Aces and Pirates suffer shock defeats at home, Wolves never looked like dropping anything here and if it wasn't for falls by Riss and Howarth it could have been more embarrassing for the travelling fans, As much as Kings Lynn were poor, Wolves were also in tune and everyone contributed and Nathan Greaves has got his Gerhard engine sorted and scoring the points required and more. He has to try and stop locking up though as it kills his speed and was very nearly t boned more than once. At the start of the season I predicted Aces, Pirates, Rockets and Wolves as the clear favourites for the play offs and while some predicted Stars would be up there, they looked more like relegation contenders and the weakest team to have visited Monmore Green so far this season. -
Wolves V King's Lynn 1st May 6.00 Pm
INCOGNITO replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
KINGS LYNN ROCKED BY NEWS Kings Lynn travel to Monmore Green on Bank Holiday Monday and were looking at this fixture as a possible victory against the defending champions who look strong on their home circuit, especially since they have added Schlein and Riss. However the Stars management were rocked by the news coming in from Poland where 2012 World Champion was booked to appear for his usual Torun team against Wroclaw. Sadly for the Anglian outfit, Chris Holder has not caught a cold or damaged a finger nail and unfortunately for them he WILL be in the starting line up at his favourite track. I'm sure all Wolves fans will be glad to see him there on Monday where he has been very fast in previous visits, mainly out of the car park and heading for home.
