  1. Zagar gained his average already as a GP rider and an average in Poland of a certain standard so he isn't in comparison. Take Zmarzlik as a example, he was at Birminghamon 6.00 but since then has become one of the best around and would come in on 8.50 as he has improved since he was here. Poole signed him knowing he was on a 6.00 average
  2. When Tai came into the team in 2016 to replace Kylmakorpi he used his 2014 average of 7.03 and at the end of last season he had done five home and one away meeting so at the end of the season it was still showing his 2014 average and had he wanted to ride in 2017 or 2018 then those six matches are used with 14 from 2014 to get a new average. If anyone knows his last ten home and ten away then that would be his average and he scored well in 2016 so a chance it is over eight HOWEVER it could be 3.47 or 11.38 as it doesn't matter as he is doing Wroclaw, Masarna and the GPs in between nappy changes.
  3. Who ? Can't think of a rider that scores well there but not here. Buczkowski 6.02 didn't do great last time he was here but can do a decent job and has been up and down in Poland but a bargain for this league. Think you may find he is joining on a 6.00 average due to his World U21 performance and his Polish average being higher than previously
  4. Chris Holder 7.16 and Kacper Woryna 6.00 announced and hopefully James Shanes 2.95 is kept as that lad has a future but must admit I heard they bought a Polish rider last season (2017) that is an asset from elsewhere but don't know if that's true and think many from that club wouldn't mind him back. Would have thought Kurtz and Jack Holder would be back making three Australians and two Poles but you know they will get a strong team together. If they did sign that rider wouldn't leave much for last place Hans Andersen maybe going to Ipswich if they move up with Scott Nicholls?
  5. Doyle to be replaced by a new face ? Keeping the rest of last years play off winners means Robins can come back with a new rider to Britain coming in as a replacement leaving a team of Morris, Bellego, Musielak, Ellis, 5.00, Wilson-Dean and a 2.00 World Champion returning to old pastures maybe ?
  6. It's the PZM and PGE Extraliga that insist on this ruling and won't allow anyone to break that. Piotr Protasiewicz nearly came over this season but was stopped as he already did three leagues and that is why Iversen never signed for Kings Lynn also. If he has agreed terms in Sweden then he has chosen his three leagues himself. . On to Wolves and Jacob Thorssell has been named in Zielona Gora team while Freddie has been out walking saying everything is on plan to be back next season.
  7. Lebedevs could be the second Polish rider in the team as he rides on a Polish licence and if this is allowed, Fricke could be the ideal signing and a solid top five.
  8. Max will be moving on to an Extraliga team with Zielona Gora, Gorzow and Wroclaw the main clubs in for him. Sparta were set to have him signed and sealed but that is obviously held up by these contracts flying around. Regardless of where Max ends up, Belle Vue have a good foundation to build a team on and Max should be the key figure in that team and if Craig Cook can keep up his British form here regardless of what happens at weekends, they will have a formidable top two and Worrall and Tungate offer good back up. Add the impressive Dan Bewley and give Jack Smith another year and it's just replacing Bjerre with whatever is left. If it is 41 point limit that is someone like Michael Palm Toft who has done well for them before
  9. The biggest issue is to cut down or stop the use of guests because riders are away riding in the other league and they have come up with getting all Premiership tracks to ride on a Monday or Thursday and the Championship to ride on any other night which in theory it should work. The problem they have then is how do they get all the fixtures done in time when you have cut the amount of available dates down by sixty percent. Then you also have the Championship tracks being forced to give up their Thursday night fixtures and find an alternative night after years of running on a Thursday. Yes delaying starts is something that annoys quite a few, especially Kelvin and something needs to be done about it like laser light tapes or responsive release as used in F1 but that comes at a cost and certainly more than a large number of flights and hotels in Tenerife. However there are many more issues that need addressing. Before that and making more places available for National League riders in the Championship rather than failed foreigners taking up reserve berths. Making it more affordable to the public is a major issue and while some will say £15-18 isn't bad, it is if it's a product that many don't know about and those that do stopped going years ago when Olsen and Collins were the key riders. There lies the problem too, that while in the past they have claimed to have employed contractor to get the sport more noticed we haven't seen anything that has made people sit up and notice. The only way Speedway gets into the papers these days or noticed by the GPs is largely down to Tai Woffinden who knows how to get media interest, gain sponsors and bring it into the twenty first century and even now in the close season is helping young riders gain contracts abroad after spending good parts of the season at the GP Academy too. What good things we have we shut the door on, don't listen or disregard their comments, much can be said of the fans who to many are just keyboard warriors putting the world to right but apparently don't know a thing. One league was the answer, less big earners but a change of race nights will do the job in hand I'm sure. SIMPLES
  10. Nothing but silence can be bad news as Poland complete their teams before the end of November and while some have been in contact with Freddie, he hasn't accepted anything and that is worrying as he may know he isn't going to be back as quick as he wanted to. Can see both missing most of next season with the injuries they have had, look at others like Rory that have had much the same injuries and they took a year out. But until anything is officially said we can only hope they are going to be back for next season. Vaculik does ride in Sweden but he is allowed to do three leagues so riding here is the third league As for Iversen, he has signed for Torun in Poland and will no doubt have to ride in Denmark to keep his DMU license so riding here may be instead of Sweden who have some financial problems at a number of tracks and 30 meetings at £3,500 is better than 14 at £7,000 that may never appear. Your nation is mainly the main employer. Taking Freddie as an example, his Swedish team have priority and in fact Wolves don't own him, they simply have his registration to ride here. However Poland last year took priority as agreed by all promoters here as the money involved is much much more than here and that pulls riders attention there. At present the Poles had priority over their scheduled fixtures so if a British fixture was rearranged to a date of a Polish meeting, they took priority but not so much if they rearranged to a date of a British fixture. This is where the Jack Holder situation is correct on both sides as Poland didn't have priority on him when they recalled him, but the agreement was if he was in a scheduled LEAGUE meeting so they claimed priority because the Fours isn't a league meeting but was scheduled so both thought they had priority. Now Poland are proposing that ALL riders in the top league sign a contract which has a number of new rules and regulations in. At present many have refused to sign these due to a few issues but one new rule is they sign up that Poland have priority for ANY REASON. This means they could recall him for practice, a press day, meeting sponsors etc and with the money on offer the riders will sign up after a few changes are made. So basically, Poland have main priority now followed by home league
  11. Very surprised at your view Deano as you are someone close enough to know many of the things that went on behind the scenes and the views Tai has on riding in or for Britain and thought you would be more backing him than this as many of your posts are not a million miles away from his opinion too. There have been some pretty tough line ups in recent years and don't think he was fortunate in any way as he came in at a time many thought he would fail due to the quality of riders around at the time. Two world titles in line ups that were arguably the best fifteen riders at the time with very few exceptions while many a World Title has been won on a one day format racing against Continental riders that were way below standard and some others just scraping through to the finals. Hans Nielsen, Greg Hancock, Nicki Pedersen, Tai Woffinden all deserve to be alongside these as their records show they beat the best in front of them and while Nielsen won the majority before the GP Series, he would have won considerably more had the GPs come in ten years earlier.
  12. Thousands attended Cardiff GP and went to the Monster circus beforehand. At this there was a stand by the BSPA with George English and a few others there with forms to fill out for entry. Well Done to the winners, the catch to it is the winner on the South Coast has free tickets to all Glasgow matches and the guy from Hulk has tickets for Somerset
  13. Fixed race nights of Monday and Thursday's will only work if each team is facing each other once not twice. If they are looking at increasing the number of teams in the Premiership then you will have more fixtures to fit in the 54 available dates but this year they struggled to fit them into 27 weeks so what chance have they got. The one way of fixing the sport for all tracks was to cut out the big earners, make it one league where Redcar, Workington etc can compete at a level they can afford and for teams like Poole, Swindon, Wolves etc to come down to that level. We would all love to see Sayfutdinov v Janowski or Zmarzlik v Dudek but it's not going to happen in a league format here unless it's 14 fixtures run only on Mondays and £20 a ticket. Meanwhile the main fixtures have to be teams led by Kyle Howarth, Danny King, Max Fricke etc and National League number seven reserve in each team. Many tracks would have two NL reserves but the smaller tracks would have a more balanced line up and a bit stronger reserve.
  14. He was already contracted there so the Poland deal has been on ice and a few teams seemed to have him in their targets but are now naming full squads. Think his injuries may take time to be fully race fit so signing for a team in your own country isn't really a suprise. Season doesn't start there til April same as the GP Series so that may be all Freddie can really aim for at the moment.
  15. Well Done Sheffield on securing a great signing for Leicester to get a top class racer on a gaters paradise
  16. Two years ago they held a fans forum in Rugby which wasn't that well attended but at least they were willing to listen to the public and answer questions. They said then it would be done every year but it hasn't and sadly doesn't look like they are going to this year. With the AGM now back in the sunny Tenerife it's obvious that finances are fine and it's a shame it isn't in the Midlands the day after a fans forum as there are many good ideas coming from the terraces via the keyboards and now is the time they really need to listen. The video of Buster saying they are heading in the right direction but it may take a few years is a worrying message as things can be put right straight away which is why they have the AGM to change rules and regulations that need correcting. It needs sorting now and the only good thing about Busters video is that he said they need to look at the sport, not what suits your club. There are only a few tracks that are financially well off and having a top league is only there for these tracks to keep happy. It's no good having the Premiership on one side and the Championship on the other side of the table going off at each other. Act as one group and look at British Speedway for all tracks.
  17. There could be quite a bit of change at Wolves on and off the track but the team front can't really be looked at until they know if Freddie and Jacob are even going to be fit for next March as both would be the first names on the team sheet. The injuries they have could mean a lengthy lay off and the fact Freddie has yet to sort out a Polish contract could be down to the length of rehabilitation he needs to be ready to return. Zielona Gora were in touch with him but heard nothing back and he has been linked with Czestochowa, Torun and Grudziadz but those three seem to be getting filled up already so maybe he could be looking at a long term lay off and Iversen as first reserve given the first few rounds ? If and it is just and if at present, the link of Vaculik talking to a British team could be his link with Simon Stead taking him t Sheffield and them moving up to keep their preferred Thursday race night. If this is the case, it would almost certainly rule Kyle Howarth out of any team plans as he is the Tigers Rider of the Year and most likley to be there in 2018. If Wolves can get Piotr Pawlicki back on 7.32 or even 8.00 then that would be a great move as he is a much better rider now than the 20 year old that topped the teams averages in 2014. With Rory Schlein more than happy to stay and Sam Masters enjoying it at Monmore, they have there three riders to build around should that be the case and no doubt Nathan Greaves is all but secure on a return after a vast improvement during the year to go from zero to hero. Ricky Wells is still a Wolves asset and could fit in well while Tobiasz Musielak and Nicolai Klindt were sold and the list of assets has certainly gone down at Wolves with the Karlsson brothers retiring, Pedersen as welcome as a fart in a space suit and Woffinden Unlikley to commit to a season of 28 - 36 meetings. All is on ice until it's known how the Swedish duo are getting on and the chances of a track return in just 20 weeks time
  18. Bjerre will almost certainly miss Britain next season as the DMU grant his licence and are Unlikley to grant it if he refuses or is unable to ride in their league. Therefore by signing in Sweden and Poland he has effectively closed the door on Britain himself. If in your team you replace Bjerre with Fricke you have more to use in the place of Perks and while it is another watering down of the main product, can you see prices going down and crowds going up ?
  19. We would all love to see a top league here with Doyke, Dudek, Woffinden, Zmarzlik, Janowski, Sayfutdinov, Pawlicki, Laguta, Vaculik etc etc but it can't happen as we don't have the backing they have in Poland where sponsors pay six figure sums, crowds are in five figures, no track rental, regular fixtures, new stadiums with tracks built to race on with various fast lines and most importantly a fan base that doesn't have the likes of Horse Racing, Moto GP, Darts, Snooker, Cricket, Rugby etc etc to compete against. Britain can't afford the top names and for the sake of the sport, this country really needs to get back to basics and form one league at Championship level that all current Premiership and Championship tracks can compete on an even footing. Yes that would mean another step of watering down the product but it would also mean every team would have two British reserves who can double up in the big league and National League. This is what doubling up should have been about, not giving riders the chance to be heat leaders in both current levels. It also gives a more varied fixture list and not the same teams visiting twice in a matter of weeks plus tracks get to keep their own race nights. The proposed move to giving the Premiership set race nights of Monday and Thursday looks at first to be fine until you look into it and how it will work. It forces Ipswich and Sheffield to either move up or change race nights and forces the Premiership tracks to change race nights and one week will have a meeting at home on the Thursday and the next week on a Monday. Can fans make both nights and do Season Ticket holders realise it won't all be a Monday OR a Thursday at their track. Every season they struggle to fit in the league fixtures before the play offs despite having 27 weeks to get them sorted but now want to get more fixtures done in just 54 days (27x2). They still want to employ the few riders on wages over £4,000 a night when we don't really need them when we could have a product built to build a new breed of home grown talent to the next level. However they look set to continue with two leagues and make a few changes when all they are doing is papering over the cracks leaving a pretty picture but in reality the faults are still there and waiting to fall down completely
  20. Too early to decide who can ride for Wolves next season until you know what the points limit is, if there is fixed race nights, one or two leagues and who are in the same league plus the obvious injuries to Freddie and Jacob. LINDGREN - Will be the first name on the team sheet if he is fit and able to return to Britain and due to injury can't commit to a Polish club at the moment. THORSSELL - Due to injury he has been released by Zielona Gora who would have kept him on but until he is fit, he may not get a chance to sign there so Britain seems likley and the most improved rider at Wolves. MASTERS - Much will depend on the first two but would love to return and like many of the team is one of the Adams Family during the season. Owned by Edinburgh and think he will be the one to miss out. SCHLEIN - Loves it at Wolves and clearly would love to be back and think they would love him back as back up to the main two. HOWARTH - Has had a great year at Wolves and with Sheffield and no doubt he will be back at Owlerton but will they move up or move race night if it is going to two set nights. RISS - Edinburgh asset and while he did well, he filled the gap left by the top five and Unlikley to return. GREAVES - Signed as a young rider who was going backwards and a bit of a surprise signing who struggled early on. Improved as the year went on and very likley to return next season at reserve. Until we know what's happening with those above will depend on who might be looked at to bring in. PIOTR PAWLICKI loved it at Wolves and out of the GPs could see him wanting the extra meetings and a bargain at 7.32 while ROBERT LAMBERT could be a surprise signing as he may be looking to move on and has been with Tai Woffinden quite a bit this season and if they are looking for new heat leaders he could be looked at. NICOL or BECKER would be of interest on low averages but think Broc will be st Lakeside Hagon Shocks Hammers while Luke may be part of the new package in Glasgow. They have sold Klindt and Musielak and don't think Ty Proctor is in any plans to return but Ricky RICKY WELLS may be an option but think he will be elsewhere. See what the AGM throws out and where the Swedes are at in terms of recovery, then we can guess at a possible seven but most importantly, who will be the management or owners come March 2018
  21. Greg Hancock may be 47 and struggled early on but still class and injury stopped him trying to get into the top 8. Has to be included. Martin Vaculik scored 99 points which is way ahead of the next in line and held a top 8 place until Zagar finished like a rocket. Vaclav Milik deserves a chance and in just 3 Grand Prixs he won 5 of his 18 heats scoring 31 points so averaged 10.33 per GP Not too sure who I would give the last one to as they all have ways of justifying their place but also have doubts over their inclusion, so one from Pedersen, Iversen, Holder, Lebedevs, Kildemand or World U21 Champion, Maksym Drabik
  22. Wolverhampton have always welcomed ex Wolves riders and the older fans love the fact that ex stars like Ermolenko, Correy etc down to older riders likevArthur Price and Ken Eyre have or are regular visitors and if anything Belle Vue should encourage these to attend as often it can make someone's night that they get to chat with a rider they use to watch week in week out. Not sure what other tracks do but think Poole also welcome ex riders
  23. Think those line ups are only examples as a number of those are very Unlikley but switch a few around, sadly take out Coventry and take out Fisher (retired), Woffinden, Lebedevs and Milik (not returning) Doyle (GP), Holder (GP) and Skornicki (Unlikley) and it's clear all of racks can field a team f seven riders and all have British youngsters at reserve which has to be a good thing. You may be able to include Hancock, Piotr Pawlicki, Kildemand etc that may be out of the GP series and available to ride here and a few others. One big league would give a fresh start to British Speedway and stopping doubling up which has ruined this country has to stop and while tracks like Polle, Wolves or Belle Vue will look and say we want better teams, it's a move that would help British Speedway not just the few big money tracks. Wolverhampton would or could look more like Thorssell 8.68, Schelin 7.56, Howarth 6.64, Becker 4.00, Perks 3.49, Greaves 2.54 and a 2.00 number seven which is some drop to what is in place at the moment but in such a league would be a strong team with a good top three, potential in Becker and three young Brits getting experience.
  24. Each rider is different and while one rider may earn more per point than another, he may not be any better off as the other rider could have sponsors that helps him out so his running costs are lower. It was well speculated that Matej Zagar got a minimum of £4,000 a night at Belle Vue and didn't have to ride in heat 14 if it didn't alter the result of the meeting and he wasn't the top earner in the top league. However in Sweden he would be on somewhere double that and even more in Poland where there are riders over £1,000 a point. So basically Rider A could get paid £1,500 for scoring 9 points and Rider B earned £1,300 but with costs, Rider A has made £500 profit and Rider B has gained £700 profit. Meanwhile Rider C will be just about making £200 a meeting profit and back to work in the morning.
  25. I can see your thinking but a few things make it a no go in my opinion. Firstly you have named teams that are unrealistic. Wolves for instance wouldn't have Howarth if Sheffield are in and why would we want Ludvig Lindgren on a six as he isn't even a Wolves rider. Then you have Sam Masters at Sheffield who would be at Wolves given the chance but haven't moved Edinburgh up but have moved up clubs Unlikley to move up. Will Lindgren be fit or back, same with Thorssell and the only reason we are keeping a top league is for the likes of Doyke and Lindgren and without them we could easily run a big league of 18+ teams giving more variety to the fixture list and no doubling up riders at all apart from reserves who would be National League riders only and stay at reserve. NL riders would be riders that have an average of 3.99 and no more unless British and under 21, allowing riders like Dan Bewley to still ride at both levels for another season. No foreign riders would be allowed an average below 4.00 so reserves would only be British giving every team two Brits at reserve which Gives them the chance to progress. Teams should be built to Championship level but using Premiership averages with the conversion rate being one point taken off Championship averages as the difference between leagues is already very small. Points limit at 34 or 36 gives every team the chance to put together an affordable team so Redcar v Belle Vue will be equal strength and affordable.
