  1. A guest and R/R as they did for the evening meeting. No reason at all for what Skidder is putting forward as fact.
  2. Add to that the fact that we could have had a facility for him anyway (contrary to what has been posted here). We could have used Jensen with R/R for Tobi as we did in the evening meeting. I'm not disputing that Tobi was a bit battered and bruised from previous knocks (one on Sunday included) even before the meeting at Poole, but there was no pre-conceived plan to do a lap and pull out. There would be absolutely no point and no gain. And I'm sure the flight to UK and home again was just for fun.
  3. Or have previously achieved a 3 point average in the UK's top league
  4. Am I missing something as to why it's a dead rubber meeting? Do both teams not still have a chance to top the group?
  5. I'm assuming he's guesting and available until Doyle's back. Doesn't have to be a 28 day replacement (meaning Doyle would have to sit out for those 28 days even if he's fit) and a better option than scratching about for a guest each time
  6. You mean other than his home track? And more so than potentially at places like Peterborough and Belle Vue? Critical for the sake of being critical in most posts.
  7. It is to some, as long as the track gives some reason for complaint they'll be happy. Hopefully that won't be the case, after Monday's showing I'm feeling more confident than usual of an Easter double over you pesky Pirates
  8. 50-40 for this one. Anything closer than that and I'll be pleasantly surprised with it being first meeting of the season as a team
  9. I think what is often overlooked with this type of comment is that the original plans for redevelopment did not include a speedway track at all. The Council made it quite clear that absolutely no redevelopment would be signed off unless it included a track for Swindon Speedway to continue racing on. Whilst there have been several changes of plans etc, the Council's backing seems to have remained a constant. One would hope that would continue should any complaints arise further down the line.
  10. Inside line of bends 3 & 4 taken in 2 metres as well as a metre off of the inside line on the straights to give even more width. Couple of pictures taken from Swindon Speedway Twitter show it all progressing well. TBF I'm sure Terry Russell would also like to know why the Club were not permitted to start the work earlier in the closed season.
  11. Very sad. To have lost Lakeside, Rye House, Coventry and Workington all in such a short space of time really is horrible
  12. What is it that creates such bitterness as to have to throw a boot in at every opportunity?
  13. What is your actual issue here? You're like a broken record. The Club are having to play the hand they have been dealt. I'm sure they would have liked to have been given the green light to have started the work earlier but that wasn't in their control. Having been given the green light, a number of people have been working their proverbials off to have the track ready for Thurs 11th April. What is unprofessional about that? If they pull it off, and everything is ready for the 11th I expect you'll lay low for a short while and wait for the dust to settle. There can be no guarantees, but there's no lack of effort going in and a lot has been achieved in a short space of time. Let's hope for the best, or not in your case as you'd prefer to say 'I told you so'
  14. One is the outside of the speedway bends 1&2 - track will be built and banked up to that level. The other is the inside line of the new dog track corner. Gap between to prevent sand from the dog track running across the speedway track in wet weather as happened previously
  15. Think that's the angle of the shot, as mentioned the dog track apex also looks narrow from this photo. Width on the bends is the same as the original width
  16. Anything from it that could potentially be transferred to a speedway meeting? Any of the gap fillers etc? Can't see cheerleaders catching on with Speedway's demographic, but could it bring a new demographic through?
  17. The wording is quite a big part when quoting
  18. My personal take on that is that it is a bit different from actively selling season tickets and advertising "You'll be able to watch the second half of the season from the new grandstand" as you had originally said. I believe assurances were being given by Stadia UK a way into the 2016 season that work would be complete by July. This obviously proved false and we are where we are. Most Swindon fans have been following this saga since 2008 when original plans were outlined without a Speedway track included in them. We're 11 years on, 2 league titles on and still racing, with track alterations now taking place as is part of the revised plans. We're all well aware of our Landlords track record (no pun intended), but can at least see our Promotion are sticking to what they have said they would do.
  19. No comparison in regards to size of project, but huge comparison in relation to the prophets of doom that fill these pages. Your other point I have highlighted on another thread that those comments have come from Stadium owners rather than the Club.
  20. Do you mean here https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/15898083.work-on-new-stadium-could-be-underway-by-may/ or here http://www.swindon-speedway.com/news.php?extend.2871 Think most of what you quote has again come from the Stadium owners rather than Rosco & Russell. They have passed on info as told in the past which has proved incorrect and have since not made mention of the stadium, just the track alterations.
  21. I'm not so sure I did. I recall lots of quotes and talk on the build up to the 'Farewell Meeting' at which point season tickets for the following season were not on sale. I then recall not long after that Farewell Meeting, still prior to any season tickets being on sale, it becoming public that it wouldn't happen for the 2016 Season. So at what point since are they mean to have said, and I quote, "you'll be able to watch the second half of the season from the new stand."? On the build up to a different season?
  22. I don't recall season tickets ever being advertised on the back of a new stadium being in place. Lots of fictional facts being thrown about at the moment, so perhaps I missed this originally
  23. Remember all of the same negativity surrounding the NSS before it all finally happened, and look at it now. I appreciate the circumstances are completely different in Swindon. The Club have only been able to pass on info they're told, a lot of which has proven incorrect hence why they have stopped saying anything about the new stadium. The Club commented that an altered track would be in place for the 2019 season. Again, nothing about the stadium. The new track will be in place for the 2019 season. I very much doubt money would be being spent on all of the alterations if it was for one season. We'll see I guess.
