  1. Possibly and more than likely yes. But would you have given it to Nicholls, Harris or Richardson ? How many chances do the three of them get before enough is enough. You could possibly make a logical argument for it going to some one like Joonas Davidson that might have been a bit adventurous but again the guy had a chance to qualify and didn't. I can see as much logic in Kennet getting it as I can Hans Andersen.
  2. No I am not really missing the point to be honest. The real reason Zager missed out is because he didn't qualify and crappy old Zorro did, so if he cant qualify before some one like that , why should he be in it ?. Zorros qualification would also show the reason behind having qualifiers do you think Zetterstorm is the kind of " face that fits " in the Grand Prix ?. As I explained in my post the reason I think Woffy and Kennet have been selected is to learn to be GP riders. Do they have a chance of winning the World Title ? Not really , not next season but lets see what they can learn , I actually think Kennet especially could be dragged along in the GP and could find another level in him self. Would Ulamek , Walasek , Lindback or even Zager ? Win it ? No they wouldn't. In fact all 4 have had there chance in the Grand Prix with a mixed level of success. So why not pick riders with the potential to improve and learn the series and in time make it a more open competition , because at this moment it is between 3 or 4 riders. As I said in my post , if they are going to have Wild Cards, which I can and cant see the point of having , they are as well using them for a logistical reason and I can see the logic behind the selection of the riders they have picked , Andersen being the exception. Not one rider can put forward a logical argument and say Woffy and Kennet have there GP place, because they don't, they all had there chance to qualify and like I said they couldn't even beat Mango to do it.
  3. That's the way I see it and a few years ago , admittedly in a 24 rider series , people like Cegelski, Nicholls and Jonsson were given Wild Card places and the time to learn the series , and at times all of them faced struggles , it even took people like Adams time to adjust to GP life. It takes an exceptional talent like Emil to just arrive in the Gran Prix and be a success. It isn't just about staying competitive on track you need to learn how to compete in a Grand Prix , I might be wrong but Emil has a few guys around him that used to be part of Rickardsons set up ? which would give him a slight advantage before he even got on the bike. As long as riders like Kennet and Woffinden see the first year as being part of an apprenticeship and learn from it then the idea could work. I would doubt that there results will be fantastic in the first season but as long as they are competitive and on the pace , then I don't see a problem with it , I can see the logic in the choice. Truth be told it excites me more to see new faces in it with the idea of them improving than riders like Walasek and Ulamek , they also had there chance to qualify and didn't. We can all sit and name riders who had a chance to qualify but didn't and it was through no fault but there own. If there is going to be a Wild Card system in place then it s better to use it for younger riders IMO and I would have said the same if it had been a nomination from another country. Some would argue that the bigger problem is giving it to some one like Hans who I am a massive fan of but didn't do enough to justify his place in the series this season at all.
  4. I agree I thought Slovenia was one of the better tracks in the series. I would hope they will start to rotate the schedule of the series as well , I don't know if I am to won over by the idea that Bydgoszcz is going to be the last round every year.
  5. I agree with this post. IMO out side the top 5 or 6 riders the rest are just making up the numbers. , rather than having riders Yo Yo in and out of it they are looking for progression and more riders who can compete.
  6. Well done to Crumpy , very deserved title and probably the best man off the track to be Speedway WC as he conducts him self as a Champion should.
  7. 1. N Pedersen 60 ( Captain ) 5. H Andersen 45 10. F Lindgren 30 7. A Jonsson 35 13. G Walasek 20 190
  8. Ain't got a problem with the wild cards my self no other names stand out to me.
  9. Its a factual statement any one that has watched him on a regular occurrence knows he isn't ready for the GPs yet. Woffinded him self admitted that he might struggle to compete with some of the Elite League riders It isn't just ability he is well behind them in terms of equipment and backing It just takes time, he will get there one day though
  10. Holder has turned it down so they have asked Zager ?. Hampel and Holder first reserves ?. I agree with Niclas the way the Grand Prix system is it will take a rider two season to really establish them selves in the GP and cope with the demands put on them , more so at a young age. They could do worse than set up a mini GP for qualification say 4 rounds in Poland, Sweden, Britain and Denmark With riders 9-15 from the GP the season before and then the highest place riders from the National Championship who aren't in the GP eg Kennet ( GB ) , Zorro ( Sweden ) , Sckornicki ( Poland, Holder ( Oz ) and so on.
  11. Lindgren just lacks consistency that will come with experience, put in a decent first GP year IMO
  12. I wouldn't apologize its a very logical post IMO
  13. The GP is about the best riders in the world if you can name me the riders better than Nicholls to keep him out the GP I will be shocked.
  14. It will be an insult to the sport if he wins any more than 3, in fact 3 is a bit of a slap in the face.
  15. Gollob took Crump of any one who doesn't think that is deluded or just seeking attention
  16. So what is the PL promoters responsbility then what is the PL for ? Are you always going to mention Peter Waite ?. When I say not enough of them justifying it I mean of the Brits racing now
  17. Its a side note on the whole affair another bullet point under why Brits are struggling IMO. I give you an example of a rider, being a Kings Lynn fan Doolan was wasting his career away due to a lack of dedication and probably finance, he went away and changed his life style and in turn his career around, sort of says some thing. Talent wasn't the question with him it was the dedication
  18. And that's the point I'm making Harris ,Richardson and Nicholls are the country's best performers and like you say you don't see them pissed in the bar every week because they are dedicated they would rather be on a plane to Poland or Sweden to improve them selves and that is to there credit and they have got the rewards other riders should follow there example, there isn't enough dedication from riders in this country IMO
  19. It isn't some thing I here of on a regular basis , and it if is some thing he is doing on a regular occurrence it isn't affecting his game, it does affect the Brits. He will ride in a World Team Cup Final on Saturday , some thing the Brits wont be doing. He is one of the most precious talents in World Speedway at the moment. Can you tell me if it does happen on a regular basis ?. And yes if he is having an occasional heavy night once in while fair play,he is on the way to making it IMO it is ok , call it reward for success. The Brit riders I see pissed on a regular basis aint rewarding them selves, drowning there sorrows for there constant failure maybe, a bit of dedication and a few early nights wouldn't go a miss, racing in a meeting doesn't mean you have to go and get pissed in the bar afterwards
  20. The big difference is its a rare occurrence for Holder, I can understand riders need a social life, more for some one like Holder who is well on the way to making it.
  21. And that is why Britain fail because they constantly write of and rubbish others, its the thing you dont see coming that hits you the hardest The ever so talented and progressive Tai as good as he is wont have much an answer to the average *cough* GP Winner *cough * Holta or the crap..... even though he isnt ....
