Depends on the timing of the question. Earlier in the season most would choose Rohan but last 1/3 it would be Josh. Ask yourself who you would have picked for the play offs between the two. You will answer with who was the better rider at that time.

That made me chuckle, even funnier if not intended.

Not really. @Paul_Burbidge: Had an interesting chat with Jason Doyle, whose UK visa application has been refused. Other riders having issues too. #speedway

Very hard to believe. Surely they must have an idea when team building, but then again....

He's quit as GB manager.

You could predict Poole challenging for the play offs without knowing any of their team.
-
No that was Mythtary.
-
Love or loathe them it is a winning mentality. Some incidences are questionable but if our teams did the same most would be commenting differently. Yes I'm jealous, I want a winning team, as long as within the rules.

Understand the need to reduce costs but I predict the weakened product will nullify any savings due to less paying customers. I'd prefer a higher team average, maybe 6 rider teams to save a bit. If there are not enough takers that could take the financial risk then 'same time next year' = one league.

Brought up at EOES so big track specialist. I find it harder to enjoy the smaller tracks - guess it depends what you grew up with. Agree Wolves does provide decent racing and is usually well prepared. Track preperation is critical but if the gulf in rider ability is too big, great racing is bound to be limited. Poole are always striving to improve their team, at considerable cost one assumes. Fair play (maybe a tad contentious with some) to them but why couldn't they prepare a track last season.

That's my point. I've been to many meetings where the scores were close but all very processional. Look at last years EL, how close was the run in to the play offs - yet the racing wasn't entertaining. Understand we won't get great action in every heat. From my understanding 5 out of 15 heats that get the adrenalin pumping will send most punters home happy. This is where they need to focus, not a 'joker' winning from the gate to make the scores closer. Team balance and perfect track preperation will do to start.

In my opinion this is why they keep getting it wrong. A close score or competitive league does not mean an entertaining meeting.

Hey Big'en, all good here thanks. We used to have some good banter on the original forum. Problem on here is all threads end up as an argument, rather than a discussion based on personal opinion. Merry Christmas.

This has got little to do with bringing on the kids, we all know that. My comment was ride against each other at a similar level. If they had implemented this in the PL the kids would still get plenty of track time. In my opinion would improve quicker riding against all opposition. Those British riders that have shown potential over recent seasons are frozen out, replaced by novices that are so out go their depth they have to have their own races. Nah thanks.
-
Much rather watch everyone ride against each other.
-
I'm really pleased we are in the PL. I will be attending far more than if in that ridiculous EL set up.
-
I'd vote for Sunday afternoon but get the feeling most wouldn't.

Great news and goodbye in one post. It's no wonder you pi$$ people off.
-
Some would say that's a positive. Not me, I actually enjoy the Smashy and Nicey show.
-
Why did I read it as Mrs Brown....
-
If one Brit raises their game but several more who improved or retained their game last season are frozen out, you consider that progress?
-
It would still be more viable than the outcome. Aware of the reasons, assume Frosty was too.
-
Auty is a similar age, in most cases younger than the draft riders mentioned. He is no world beater but is a much better rider than Lambert, Starke, Halsey and Smart will ever be. Not sure how you view this as working perfectly. Why they didn't implement this in the PL and have a minimum 2 Brits in EL teams is beyond me.
-
They have been forced out by this ridiculous ruling. All had their chance but some progressed quicker than others - which now makes it much harder to secure a place in an EL 1-5. Whereas some that haven't done as well are given a team. Then again Speedway has a habit of penalising improved performers.
-
Very sure. For years the EL has pandered to the weaker clubs (with good intent) which has now resulted in this new shambolic set up of two separate meetings in one. It doesn't matter how close it looks now - after a few weeks manipulation of the rules predictions will become clearer. I have often stated any speedway is better than none, but to be honest if Peterborough were still in this Elite League I doubt I would have been a regular - as I have been for many years.
