Would expect a ticket purchased in advance entitles you to use the season ticket gate, otherwise as Gemini states, what's the point. Problem with discounting is potential conflict with season ticket holders.

British Slag (speedway) In A Crisis
Hodgy replied to peatbog's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
You mean like a forum where different opinions are discussed. Ok no worries, the fact you only responded to the first 8 words of my post rather than my opinion confirms we have a very different views on the subject - so no need to reply. -
British Slag (speedway) In A Crisis
Hodgy replied to peatbog's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not sure what you mean by 'used us'. The guy is earning a living, as we all are. British Speedway can't offer him the income other countries could, why should he choose 'us'? If you are offered 2 jobs with a significant difference in salary, the choice isn't that difficult. If things don't work out take the next best option, as we all would. It's not Hancock 'using' British Speedway, it was a matter of convenience for all parties. -
Very interesting and emotional article. The separate piece from Gary on the bonus points pages regarding the concern about NL riders instant elevation into the EL, I totally agree with. Mixing experienced riders with lesser experienced youngsters has dangers that the BSPA haven't given enough thought to. Even if only riding against fellow reserves and second strings it's a jump too soon.
-
Very poor planning in my opinion. Your no 1 rider missing a minimum of 7 meetings, that's without reschedules and going beyond round one of competitions. Supporters want a consistent team line up. We don't know how riders injured in meetings will be replaced (NL riders can't race against the big boys), or how we replace NL riders that are double booked. The NL and PL were ticking along nicely, the EL comes along and makes a decision that screws everything up. They make these stupid rash changes without carrying out a thorough risk analysis. It's now totally out of control. Rip it up and start again.

There wasn't the choice then and was at a time when people could be ar$ed. You've got to shush it up a bit and entertain. A well prepared track can do that safely. People have to go home thinking that was exciting. That can't be changed now, the standard of track Preperation can.

£17 is fine, if I don't watch 15 races to the first bend. Fill in the holes and get some dirt down, create yourself a few racing lines and let's go racing. That's the only way to bring them back, and keep them. It's too borrrring on slick or badly prepared tracks.
-
Hawksbee and Jacobs just congratulated the appointment. Stating how did they decide between the 4 candidates - first to the bend wins!!! 😄😄😄
-
So your judgement is based on seeing him ride one track. It is surprising though as I would expect ex motocrossers to go well round Poole.
-
To you, to me 😄😄😄 Mmmmmmm EL sensible

Cooke won the NL riders championship in his first season in the Sport, 2009. Won the PL riders in 2012, Topped the PL averages with 10:42 last season, scoring numerous maximums at more than 3 tracks. Finished 3rd in the EL riders. His EL average 7:42 was on a par or better than 3 of your GB team. Why would you think he can only ride 3 tracks and has reached his level? Appears to get better every season to me. I expect him to step up another level this season.

No that was Mythtary.

Hey Big'en, all good here thanks. We used to have some good banter on the original forum. Problem on here is all threads end up as an argument, rather than a discussion based on personal opinion. Merry Christmas.
-
This has got little to do with bringing on the kids, we all know that. My comment was ride against each other at a similar level. If they had implemented this in the PL the kids would still get plenty of track time. In my opinion would improve quicker riding against all opposition. Those British riders that have shown potential over recent seasons are frozen out, replaced by novices that are so out go their depth they have to have their own races. Nah thanks.
-
Much rather watch everyone ride against each other.
-
I'm really pleased we are in the PL. I will be attending far more than if in that ridiculous EL set up.
-
I'd vote for Sunday afternoon but get the feeling most wouldn't.
-
Some would say that's a positive. Not me, I actually enjoy the Smashy and Nicey show.
-
Why did I read it as Mrs Brown....
-
Agree it's still good value. If you get it every week a subscription works out much cheaper. Before anyone asks no I'm not on commission
-
No it's not for me. I still like flicking through the magazine.
-
Mine doesn't always have any left so can't guarantee availability. Ordering ensures my copy every week and I don't need to go and hunt one down. Guess it's what suits the individual. Still can't find the Speedway Mail anywhere
-
Avid SS readers generally order their copy as newsagents and supermarkets are too hit and miss. You cannot rely on getting a weekly copy, whereas by ordering it drops through the letterbox every Thurs (barring the odd postal glitch). Remind me, when did the mail go out of circ?
-
Surely you didn't expect anything other than chaos.

British Speedway Promoters Meeting
Hodgy replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Maybe we know enough to hazard a dam good guess. What's the point in watching the same riders race each other. Team Speedway is about racing against everyone at some stage of the meeting, in most cases. I'm all for promoting the Brits but don't really want to see Blackbird scoring a 9 point max by beating Josh Bates 3 times.
