  1. In my opinion it was the introduction of the GP series that influenced the downfall of British Speedway. Don't get me wrong I'm a supporter of the GP's and always look forward to each round. The knock on effect of the televised spectacle was expected to create an influx of new supporters, a similar model to F1. Poland, Sweden, Denmark all seem to have gained support whearas British Speedway (the place to be) went downhill rapidly. Even they are now falling into decline. Why? Inconsistent race nights, the loss of regular 1-7 teams and 'superstars' that no longer rely on plying their trade in the UK. The result being top riders could demand top dollar, coupled with decreasing attendances, severe lack of sponsorship, cash strapped promotions with insufficient funds to market the product - a business model doomed for failure. Is it coincidence that all the other nations all have a dedicated Speedway night, Sun, Tues, Weds? We have continually tried to accomadate the desperate clubs, for the right reasons, to assist survival. Unfortunately it appears to have backfired drastically as most are now gasping their last breath. The PL has it's problems but due to lesser costs, consistent race nights and in my opinion better racing it's survived better. Problem is for many, once they've had steak...... I originally posted my thoughts on the local forum. I would also like to add having a BSPA with so much self interest will always create a divide. We stand no chance unless all pull together for the good of the sport. Sadly I won't be holding my breath.
  2. Can pick up tickets on the day, need 2. VIP preferred 😄😄😄

  4. Sorted, roughing it in a tent for the night. £27, 10 min walk into town from campsite. Thanks for the replies and assistance.
  5. Yes understand. Did it for 5 years by pre booking very early, another year got late cancellation. Couldn't pre book this year as wasn't sure if I could make it. Now it's full steam ahead, jolly boys outing (well me and Bro) pairs Fri, managed to get Prem inn 7 miles from track, then GP Sat - just need a room now, don't mind being a few miles way, just don't like being ripped off.
  6. Thanks, would have done the job but full. Appreciate the recommendation.
  7. Anyone have any rooms they plan on releasing?
  8. My point entirely. I really do hope the new lads progress well but they are not ready yet. As far as all the comments regarding riders failing in the past, usually a case of best of an average bunch.
  9. We couldn't qualify for the under 21 WTC, so really what would the point be to put them in the senior team. We are debating who should be in the 10 man squad, what is the point of naming 10 when it will be reduced to 4/5 in a couple of weeks. What will they learn from that?
  10. Oh come on people, Garrity, Blackbird, Lambert, Kerr, Lawson etc... This is World Team Cup, I really hope they make it one day but get real, they are miles away at this level. Draft riders and PL at best - you can not be serious!!!
  11. Rusky's looking like a reserve team of Kov's. Emil and Laguta Bro's won't ride as they don't pay enough, allegedly.
  12. Really? Worrell and Lambert are not ready. A bit unfair on Harris, maybe inconsistent over the past few seasons but 3 British Champion titles, League success and some great battling performances in past World Team cups - much more than just Cardiff 2007. How many points do you think the mentioned youngsters would have after the 6 GP rounds? At least he gives it a go knowing his best days are behind him - unlike a certain Rusky. Barker, like or dislike, will out score most we have to choose from (granted not a lot of choice). He can, on his day, be an entertainer. There is no long term planning in Speedway, who knows where it will be next year, month or even week. Pick the team that will give you the best chance to progress - it will still be a job to qualify.
  13. If Rosco picks a team for the future he won't be in the job long enough to reap any benefits. Play your best team on the day - far too soon for some riders mentioned. Woffy, Cook, Harris, Barker. Not a lot beyond that - King and Bridger rarely perform on the bigger stage. Nicholls would have made us look a tad stronger.
  14. No not watching something different just have differing opinions. That is all. What actually happened, in my opinion, NP caused the crash - as the majority agree. So, as someone has to be excluded for causing the stoppage - you really see a case for excluding Zager?
  15. I don't understand where you are coming from. Zager is holding his line on the 3rd bend, not clamping anyone. Pedersen slams straight into him, either going for a gap that wasn't there, trying too hard to move him over or totally misjudging his speed. Whichever it was the conclusion was without doubt Pedersen caused the crash.
  16. If it was exactly the same move it would have had exactly the same result. Not the same at all.
  17. Gundersen is a perfect example that this sport is dangerous enough without Pedersen's kamikaze moves. He states the incident was tough racing (tough racing that could have been fatal) yet wants the book throwing at Zager for the handbags in the pits. You couldn't make it up.
  18. The only difference being Lindgren had that slight opportunity to move over, Zager didn't. Slam Dunk!
