The Polish PL, not the big boys. Would have made no difference in my opinion. -
World Cup Final 2nd August 2014

Great meeting on a great race track, very entertaining and what a finish. Expected GB to finish 4th so didn't disappoint. They just don't have the hp to compete on big fast tracks. So far behind from the gate against this opposition. -

Cook was easily the best and most entertaining rider on show at Peterborough yesterday. Very quick and gained many points from behind. Only been riding a few years, can only see him getting better in my opinion. A victim of his own rapid success. -
British Youth 125cc Championship - 20th July 2014
Hodgy replied to Mimmo's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Great to see the kids give it there all. Swiftly run meeting that keeps the interest going. I keep hearing how our problem is we have no youth policy. Well Neil Vatcher and team take a bow, the youth scheme looks in good shape to me. Bravo 👍👏 -

S W C - Who Will Be Picked For Uk

Sounds like Lynn was slick this week. That would suit little big bear, doesn't like the dirt. Ex MX riders tend to handle deeper tracks better. -

That's probably the average time it takes to read the rule book.

Prague is an amazing City but it's usually the worst GP, the track never produces good racing. If you can put up with that you will have a great time.
-
Difficult to top the Cardiff experience but The Polish GP's usually create a great atmosphere - apart from this years at Bydgoszcz, result of an internal dispute and stance from Polish fans.

Well said. Where else in the UK do you see a City painted totally Speedway. Streets, bars, shops, cafés, hotels all Speedway themed - you can talk the sport with so many different supporters. Whereas at most venues up and down the country you wouldn't even know there was a meeting on. As you say, that's what needs addressing, Cardiff has it sorted. Fantastic weekend. P.S. Keep the air horns for the stadium, I kept spilling my pint 😄

On the bright side, bet you felt a tad more lively than Bro and I this morning.
-
Oh no! No draught where you were, feel your pain my friend.

The bar we went to after heat 0,4,8,12,16 🍺🍻🍺🍷🍻🍷 hic! served pre-poured draught beer, albeit crappy Fosters. I've watched from all areas of the stadium and all serve the same. Great weekend. 😀😀😀

In my opinion it was the introduction of the GP series that influenced the downfall of British Speedway. Don't get me wrong I'm a supporter of the GP's and always look forward to each round. The knock on effect of the televised spectacle was expected to create an influx of new supporters, a similar model to F1. Poland, Sweden, Denmark all seem to have gained support whearas British Speedway (the place to be) went downhill rapidly. Even they are now falling into decline. Why? Inconsistent race nights, the loss of regular 1-7 teams and 'superstars' that no longer rely on plying their trade in the UK. The result being top riders could demand top dollar, coupled with decreasing attendances, severe lack of sponsorship, cash strapped promotions with insufficient funds to market the product - a business model doomed for failure. Is it coincidence that all the other nations all have a dedicated Speedway night, Sun, Tues, Weds? We have continually tried to accomadate the desperate clubs, for the right reasons, to assist survival. Unfortunately it appears to have backfired drastically as most are now gasping their last breath. The PL has it's problems but due to lesser costs, consistent race nights and in my opinion better racing it's survived better. Problem is for many, once they've had steak...... I originally posted my thoughts on the local forum. I would also like to add having a BSPA with so much self interest will always create a divide. We stand no chance unless all pull together for the good of the sport. Sadly I won't be holding my breath.
